Best seaweed!! Thank you Down to Earth!
I am pleased to find this product for my large garden at a reasonable price. The packing is very simple, clean and biodegradable. I will be buying again in the near future. Kelp adds trace minerals in you soil...yes, from the sea. You will see much larger produce. Sweeter fruits, luscious vegetables and flowers in your garden. And a whole lot more of hungry little worms...that will grow into healthy BIG worms to work your soil. Those worms gobble up some of that seaweed for themselves. That's right earthworm castings. Add 3 inches of composted leaves every year for 3 years with this kelp and you will have one of the most productive gardens you have ever had...you will be giving produce to your neighbors, guaranteed. I am glad Amazon offers this product. As always..Thanx Amazon. And thank you Down to Earth for your very reasonable prices. And no, I was not gifted in any way for this review.

Love kelp meal.
I really think this product is an incredible product even with its NPK as it is- we all know kelp helps things grow very fast and this is just a great product. I truly think that for the most part all my vegetables everything that I've started so far is due to the fact that I've used meal in there

Small Garden - I love it and need more for next season.
This is my second box of kelp from this company, 3rd or 4th now total. What I find nice about this product compared to others is the wonderful smell, it seems fresh to me and smells like, well... kelp! Like the ocean in a way. That's good in my book. I did not find this true of some of the other guys. Kelp has proven a fantastic amendment to my soil beds, as well as soaked, strained, and sprayed as a foliar feeding. The other brand that I was fond of was Dr. Earth, but I prefer this product to that because of the perceived freshness factor and it looks to be all kelp, and less filler (that's my suspicion, though I CAN'T confirm this) The packaging is plain jayne, and knowing what ratios for application doesn't hurt, though they give you suggestions. Happy gardening!

One of nature's wonders in gardening
Really excellent product. Easy to use and store in the packaging received in (considering it's contained in an interior bag). Kelp meal contains many of the vital minerals and nutrients required for healthy plants and excellent plant growth along with naturally-ocurring plant hormones within the kelp itself to stimulate root development and prevent transplant shock. Absolutely recommended! I can see drastic changes and growth after application to my transplanted plants in new beds I establish and ammend.

As Pictured
I received my kelp in the box that is shown in the picture. In my case it didn't really need it because I am using it in a fertilizer "recipe" that I got from a book Gardening When It Counts: Growing Food in Hard Times (Mother Earth News Wiser Living Series) If you - like another reviewer - do not receive your box here is what it says: Application Rates Vegetable Gardens & Flower Beds: Apply 1-2 lbs per 100 square feet and thouroughly mix into the top 3" of garden soil. For transplants, add 1 teaspoon per hole, mix thoroughly into soil and water in well. To feed established plants, side dress 1-2 teaspoons per plant 1-2 times throughout the growing season to promote plant growth. Containers & Houseplants: For new plantings, mix 1/4 cup per cubic foot of soil. For established plants, side dress 1-2 teaspoons per gallon of soil 1-2 times throughout the growing season to promote plant growth. Guaranteed Analysis Total Nitrogen (N) 1.0% Available Phosphate (P2O5) 0.1% Soluble Potash (K2O) 2.0% Derived from: Sea Kelp (Ascophylium nodosum) Listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute(OMRI) for use in organic production. It goes on to tell what N-P-K is and does but you can look that up for yourself. As for how the stuff works in the organic fertilizer recipe - I will have to get back to you on that.
