I gave this item a special location in our little pond ... it worked fine for two days and now it is garbage.. Not working at all.

This 1.5 watt pump is perfect for the simple water feature I made for our new pollinator garden. If I'd gotten the more powerful pump the water output would be too strong for what we wanted. The different fountain heads are a nice feature and very easy to change out. For reference, the container I used for the pool of water is 22" diameter and 3.5" deep. The rocks are slate. With the pump being solar it only works when sunlight hits the receptor panel, meaning the fountain does not work when it's dark out, if there's a good amount of cloud cover (mine works if there is some light cloud cover but causes the flow/spray of water to be weak), or if the panel is in the shade. This pump has a "low water level shut off feature" which is great for preventing the pump motor from burning out due to running without enough water covering it. I make it a habit to maintain the water level to avoid stressing the motor, and hopefully extend the longevity of the pump. The cord that connects the pump to the solar panel is 9 feet, but in reality you will have less than that as to how far out you can place the solar panel from your water feature. But depending on the situation, it is possible to have your fountain in the shade while the solar panel is, say, 8.5 feet away in a sunny area. Something to keep in mind, as an example - if you have a taller type of fountain where the pump will sit 2 feet down, and you want the section of cord that will be outside the fountain to hang down along the side or back of the fountain - and not be pulled taut coming out at an angle from the fountain - that would use up 4 feet of the cord and leave you with less than 5 feet of distance to place the solar panel. Last thing - be sure to periodically take the pump out (disconnect the cord from the solar panel) and rinse off/clear out any debris build up, which WILL occur especially if it's outside. #1 reason pumps stop working.

Great little solar pump for our pond, it starts up after about 10 seconds of direct sunlight on the panel.
