Laco Augsburg Mens Analog Automatic Watch with Leather Bracelet 861688

I REALLY like this watch! I’m a minor collector of mechanical watches. I own four modern Omegas, three vintage Omegas, a Breitling, etc. If you were to see my collection, it becomes immediately apparent I like simple, big, bold, easy to read faces - the kind you can take a quick glance at the watch and immediately tell the time (I’m not much of a fan of chronographs or skeleton watches where one has to take a moment to find the hands against the background clutter). The Laco Flieger (Flyer) watches definitely fit the bill for this criteria. I previously purchased the Laco “Leipzig” model. The Leipzig is a 42mm Type B face (Navigator/Bombadier) from their Original Series that very closely recreates the details of the original wartime Luftwaffe watches (one-piece sandblasted case with period-correct engravings, manual wind, blued-hands, etc) and retails for about $1100. I wanted to add the Type A face (pilot) to my collection, but didn’t want to spend the $1200 for the “Memingen” Type A version, so I instead chose this “Augsburg” from the Basic Series. It’s a wonderful watch! There is nothing “cheap” about it. There are clearly differences (as seen in the pictures - the Basic Augsburg on the left and the Original Leipzig on the right.). The brushed stainless case with see-through back, the color/appearance of the hands and face, the crown, and the Laco-branded strap (which is thinner on the Augsburg). But, overall it is a great watch! Solid, substantial feel, great looks, and the Miyota automatic movement actually keeps better time than the Laco-branded Swiss made movement of the Leipzig. Another feature I like on the Augsburg is it utilizes the ubiquitous spring bars for the watch band, so one can quickly change bands depending on mood. The historically correct Leipzig, OTOH, utilizes fixed bars, meaning if one wishes to removed the original Laco strap, it would have to be cut off or the strap rivets drilled out. I am extremely happy with the price/performance/appearance of this watch and would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid high quality and great-looking watch.

Ive had this watch for four years now. Im military and three of those years were in alaska working on ships in the bering sea. This watch has held up great to all of my abuse and crazy weather conditions. The wrist strap finally snapped the other day but I'm kinda surprised it didn't happen sooner with everything ive put this thing through. 10/10 would buy again.

A great watch representing value for money. For your 150 pounds you get a watch that has a bit of history (They were one of several watch companies that made watches for ther German air force in WW2) So you are getting a pilots watch from a company that has a genuine history of supplying watches to pilots. The watch is not quartz as advertised by Citizen Miyota movements. Miyota are the main competitors to the Swiss ETA. There is some disagreement regarding Miyota being of equal quality the main issue is with the ETA when you pull out the crown to set the time the second hand stops, with the Miyota it keeps going which can be a little hard to get used to. Miyota and Citizen are a respected company though so you can buy this with confidence. Buying Miyota also means you are paying about 300 pounds less than you would for an ETA movement watch. The dial is 42 mm which is an average size bigger than your dress watch (36-38mm) And is about the size of an average divers watch (Pilots watches are generally bigger going up to 44 or 46mm) What makes this watch look big is because how thick it is. It is a pilots watch and so not designed to tuck under your shirt. The lume on this is bright and its a very sterile watch. The watch comes in a big case and presentation box. The case looks pretty solid and I dont expect any problems from it. Watch comes on a thick brown leather strap. All in all exactly what you would want/expect from a pilots watch.

Eine sehr schöne FLiegeruhr. Sieht im Orginal besser aus als auf den ganzen Bildern. Ebenso auch das Leder sitzt super an der Hand.

Received my Laco Augsburg today after ordering it from Amazon directly. Arrived in a neatly packaged box. Watch comes in a black box with the Laco 1925 engraved on the upper side; inside you get a black leather case, the watch and an informative mini leaflet with the various calibres Laco uses for their watches. I've heard people ordering from Laco.de directly got an extra leather strap in the box whilst this box had nothing extra but the watch's itself but i can't really verify. The watch feels solid and has nothing to be jealous of other more expensive watches. Very comfortable to wear, uber luminance so far. Planning to order a Friedrichshafen now! Cudos to Laco for their beautiful watches.

This Laco Augsburg looks and feels like a quality watch and visually it stands up well against far more expensive pilots watches I have looked at. As pointed out by other reviewers it has a mechanical movement (not quartz as advertised) which has so far kept excellent time. Another reviewer said his came with an extra Fleiger style strap but mine just had the brown strap shown in the photo. All in all this is a great watch at a bargain price.
