Excellent softness and comfort. The microplush material feels soft, smooth, and cozy, while the warmth is excellent and the multiple heat settings make the temperature easy to adjust. It heats quickly and provides consistent heating performance. The size gives good coverage, the blanket is pleasantly lightweight, and the overall quality feels very good. The controls are easy to use, so the functionality is excellent. Very satisfied with this purchase and the value for money.

Edit 11/2025: So it stopped working after about three years, and that was disappointing because I only used it during the winter when I was occasionally on a couch in the basement. Basically, seasonal and infrequent light use. That said, I contacted Sunbeam and they took care of the situation very quickly and efficiently. So while I have some concerns with reliability, Sunbeam's customer service was excellent. Still 5 stars overall. End of edit. There are a lot of terrible reviews for a variety of reasons, but I've been overall satisfied with this blanket. We've been using this in a rather chilly and poorly insulated basement when watching television, listening to music, or reading. Pros: Decent price (I bought twin size for $69), quite soft, versatile temperature control, long cord, and looks decent. Cons: Somewhat uneven heat distribution, not great insulation Pro and Con: Thin, explained below By far the absolute best "tweak" to increase performance is to throw another layer on top of this. It is a thin and light blanket so the insulation is rather poor and the heat quickly dissipates. Even a very thin layer on top will boost the performance from "maybe okay" to very good. However, I would not do this when sleeping because it could be a safety risk in my opinion. The heat distribution is definitely uneven. It's warmer towards the bottom near the cord "input," but I think that's just unavoidable due to the thin insulation and how heated blankets physically work. The thinness is welcome when I'm moving, folding, and storing it, but it impacts consistency of heat. Again, with an extra layer, it evens out and contains the heat, which lets you reduce the heat level by many levels. The heating wires are easily felt due to how thin it is, but the fabric itself is soft. The generous cord length is nice (over 15 ft overall, about 6 ft from plug to control). The 10 heat settings seem excessively exact. You realistically only need maybe 5 intervals. What the preheat setting does is unclear in the manual, but in my experience it seems to quickly heat up the blanket for 30 minutes before changing to whatever setting you picked. Overall, it's not a terrible price, and I bet you will be satisfied with this if you incorporate another layer on top. If you don't follow that tip, then there's a decent chance you'll be disappointed.

I bought this as a gift for my daughter up in the cold tundra of upstate New York, lol. They loved it, warm, functioning well.

Due to physical issues, I've had and been using heating blankets nightly an all Season long for over two decades now. This heating blanket has been the most expensive but is my LEAST favorite one so far. It feels like it's more of a warming blanket than a heating blanket. The controller doesn't seem like it even goes with this blanket because it won't allow the heat to be set above 12 (as the highest heat setting) but when turned on, it shows the highest heat setting being18 before it automatically jumps down to heat setting 6 for 8 hours (even though you can manually reset it between 1-12 hours each time then too). If you don't want it set at 6 (which I never do), you have to manually reset it each use. It is the only one that I've ever owned that the heat & time has to be reset every time and also the only one that the controller doesn't stay lit to know if it is on. If you want to adjust it or turn it off through the night, expect to have to turn a light on to see the controller. Although it is softer than others, it doesn't really matter because I always use one over the top of a sheet and under a light comforter to keep it clean longer because unfortunately, they are not meant to be washed weekly like I would prefer with all of my bedding. It is the only one that has ever shed a lot of lint just laying over the bed sheet too. I have not washed it yet but feels heavier than any other I've owned, so it does concern me to whether it is going to be more of a pain to basically 'air dry' after washing on a cold & gently wash cycle when I do --and hopefully not clogging up my machine with a bunch of lint! At the same time and for good measure in being sure I have a 'back up' these days, I purchased a 2nd off-brand one from another company for exactly half the price that has exceeded all expections than this Sunbeam already. I've even washed it with no problems. The only thing that this Sunbeam electric blanket has going for it to me is a 5 year warranty even IF to have purchased through Amazon (unlike I've discovered with Beautyrest to NOT have honored by simply doing so) --so time will tell.

Good things are that it is nice and velvety. It heats up very quickly and gets very very warm, I usually have to turn it down or off very quickly. The bad things are there are large sections where there are no heating wires and therefore stays ice cold. The hems are not professional looking, there is no binding, they are kind of raggedy. The previous blankets I’ve had had the label where the plug is, it seems to give some more support to the plug, this one does not. It’s just sort of hanging in the blanket fabric. It seems as though at some point it’s just going to. rip out. The light on the controllers are very bright, and when they time out the light does not go off, you have to actually push the button to turn the controller off. If it has timed out, you have to push it twice to turn it off .The controllers are very difficult to adjust when you are barely awake, all of the buttons feel the same when you’re sleepy, and not looking at the controller. This is the third or fourth sunbeam electric blanket that have bought, they typically last 2 to 3 years. All of the controllers have been different, this one is the worst, and this blanket is also the softest most velvety, my favorite of all the fabrics I’ve had. I think it is probably a good deal for the money. I just would’ve liked to have known about some of the things before I bought it.

Works well with good control to the heat. Material is somewhat thinner that I expected so it should have something separating the blanket from you & the top! The blanket must be deliberately placed on the bed to cover the person s.

I love this blanket. However, one side of it when set on #3 will not stay on. It shuts off almost immediately. IS there a warranty on this? Like I said I do love it but am having this certain problem with just one side of the blanket. It's a dual control and other side works great.please advise me if I should return it or replace it

Not as advertise or as shown in the Amazon pictures. I paid for a Sunbeam Electric Royal Luxe Microplush Heated Blanket and what I got is not even remotely similar to what is advertised. It is made out of these 2 very thin cloth low quality material and poorly just slapped together. I had it turned on for an hour and no heat from it what so ever. It came vacuum sealed (should have been my 1st clue). This shipped/made by Star Elite Inc in Shaoxing (city), Zhejiang (province), China (country). They have been making it since at the year 2023. They had one of the Sunbeam heated blankets already recalled by the Canadian Government in March 2023 for fire hazard. It doesn't appear that company have made an improvement since. Do not buy this product. It is falsely advertised and misleading.

i used it on my bed every night in the winter and spring until the weather warms up.I will pack it in my closet for the summer ,i wouil buy another one if that ones stops heating .im 65 years old and full of joint pain it helps my bones not to ache as bad .i would advise anyone to buy this beautiful electric blanket
