Absolutely great value
Owned these many years ago and remember them being an excellent sounding headphone. They were not in the best of condition after years of use so decided to purchase a new pair. My memory did not fail me. The Porta Pro is still a fantastic sounding headphone for this price. In fact, I would compare them to models costing 4 times as much. One caveat is you have to like “on the ear” open sounding headphones. If you prefer an isolated “between your ears” sound these are not for you. Any loud outside noise will probably be noticeable. I prefer the “outside of your head” sound that these produce. The music floats just outside your ears much like listening to room speakers. The frequency range seems to be quite accurate. Even though the earpieces rest on the ears and not around, the bass is punchy, well defined, and musical with no added boom. The midrange has great detail and the higher frequencies may be a bit rolled off, but are very easy on the ears and do not produce audio fatigue. The Porta Pros, despite the low price are more than adequate for focused, critical listening. They are light and not sturdily built and should be handled with reasonable care. Highly recommended.

Wow… meet your new daily driver music and calls.
WoW, a no brainer purchase. Koss Porta Pro Utility. these are amazing, the best sound and comfort, got the extra cable with the mic for phone calls. wore for hours. wow, calls are crystal clear, music is crazy amazing very dynamic range with super punchy bass, vocals are amazing. Not audiophile quality but the most fun since the original old school Sony walkman headphone, remember the first listen? it was wow.

Good For the money, Just lacks some of the high end
For The money it is a decent headphone. This headphone has alot of pros, the price is cheap, good soundstage, good midrange. decent comfortability(i can wear for an hour or two without any discomfort) and can be powered by anything. however this headphone lacks in alot of things, the pads are not lush enough for long listening, the sound to this headphone is very dark, the mids are pronounce but the highs lack clarity and sound muffled. This can be fixed with some eq however the bass cant, the drivers struggle to produce undistorted low end but thats what you get for a on ear headphone with tiny drivers. still though the upper bass is present enough to give the kicks in music punch. Definitely would look for an over ear for hip hop or anything where you want to hear bass. Rock is pleasing on this headphone though and so is pop. Basically a good headphone for rock or pop, has a dark tone, Great quality to the sound just wish the high end was more present.

As good as ever
Same great Porta pro sound with a fun stealth colorway and better cables

Great sound, terrible durability.
Great sound as always, but... • The cable is thin and feels flimsy • The utility connector feels stiff and requires lots of pressure to fit. • The construction uses weaker plastic (the transparent bits between the temple cushions and earpads), which cracked after about 2 months of daily use. • The band doesn't adjust smoothly like in earlier models. I legitimately have purchased over 20 pairs of Porta Pro headphones and, for whatever reason, this specific part of the set is particularly weak, which is uncharacteristic of this line of headphones. While it has other good qualities, I can't justify buying it at all if it's going to critically fail within 2 months of just wearing them. Get an earlier model, or cannibalize an earlier-model headset and pop these speakers into it.

Drastically lower product quality
I have owned 2 previous Koss headphones, the original wired one from 2013-2018 and the wireless bluetooth from 2018-2023. They both eventually succumbed to basic wear and tear from the wires, and started losing sound quality, but I was very happy with the length of time I had used them. This brings me to this product. Firstly, while I would have preferred to have the original iconic light blue earpieces, black frame and silver band design, I was not opposed to the new redesign. The headband was a black metal, the light blue ear pieces were strangely replaced with blue left and red right earpieces, and the plastic frames that connected the ear pieces to the head band was now a translucent black plastic. In total these 3 changes were strange to me, I specifically didn't understand why the two earpieces were not symmetrical in color, either both red or both blue. On the upside, the one change I liked was the flattened cable, it made it very clear when the cables were twisted in the wrong direction, as this was a problem in my previous 2 Koss headphones; they would get tangled in ways I could not easily undo, because the cables would rotate around themselves and bend in a way would only be undone if untwisted in the correct direction. I later learned that it was much easier to just pop off the headphones and let them unravel. The biggest knock against these headphones is the fact that after a month of daily use, the left earpiece snapped off the headband. I was just unfolding the earpiece when it just snapped cleanly in two. The plastic seems much weaker than the older models I've had, as they still are very strong and have not bending or warping. A smaller complaint would be the way the headbands extend and contract, sometimes the little plastic squares that hold the two metal bands in place get stuck, and the headphones are unable to contract, as I typically extend them to the maximum distance, then shorten them to fit my head. Instead they just get stuck and I have to spend a minute fiddling with the plastic piece to get it unstuck from the metal band so it can contract properly. Overall I do not suggest this product, return to one of the older models that use more durable plastic and have less loose parts that risk getting stuck. If a newer koss was able to keep the old headphone design, but retain the new flattened cables, that would be my ideal iteration of this product.

Very cool looking retro headphones and good sound
Wow, love the retro look and knowing that this company has been building them since the 80s. Good sound quality and they fit perfectly, very comfortable Good quality pouch to carry the headphones

Good, but not as effortless as the KPH40
Edit: Koss contacted me! They are standing behind their product and replacing my unit; what more could I ask for? Thanks to Mike at Koss I'll hopefully have a set without a headband defect. I will update this review appropriately if that is the case! In short: Good: Super portable (seriously smaller than the earcups of my daily drivers when hooked) Sounds great with a pad roll Porta Pro band wont fly off of your head while you exercise Bad: Questionable changes to the band Needs thicker pads out of the box if they're trying to make the (imo positive) sound changes found in the 40 uniform in the PPU Out of the box... I wasn't entirely sure. There is a slight boxiness to the soundstage, and a slight loss of separation compared to the KPH40. Initially I thought that it could be some reflection from the plastic frame (compared to the lack of anything surrounding the KPH40 drivers) but... it seems to be the clamp force. The drivers are being pushed just.. slightly closer to your ears. And that is all it takes to make them sound inferior to the 40's on first glance. I tried yaxis with the 40's, didn't like it. Tried them with the PPU, and now they basically sound just like the 40's (though I still perceive a slight elevation in sub bass and mid bass). Now on to a real issue.. They used the same teflon coating on this band, that they did on the 40, and that was a MISTAKE, in my opinion. The sliders are literally scraping the teflon off of the band, leaving an unsightly mark. The worst part about this is that the inconvenience isn't rewarded at all.. they do not slide nearly as smoothly as the original Porta Pro did, nor any of its subsequent variants. As a reference I have used them maybe 4 hours total, and Adjusted them 4 times (once per session) I'm going to contact Koss and see what they say about the band damaging itself... Unfortunately I expect that if it's not an isolated defect, a replacement band will do the same thing. If it DOES end up being a defect, and not just a design flaw, I'll mention it here and add a star.

You get what you pay for
They look amazing and super retro in a great fashionable way… My critique is that they are very fragile above the ear piece. And are uncomfortable do to the thin sponge lining.

Muito bom!
E um ótimo fone, tem um grave bastante reforçado e no geral o som é agradável. Sinto falta de um app desenvolvido pela Koss para equalizar o som e ter uma experiencia mais equilibrada quando uso no celular.

Incredible sounding earphones burdened by bad build quality
The plastic around the earphones broke in 5 months, could never fit on my head and I had to purchase something else to replace it altogether. But I guess there isn't much to demand outta $60.
