Q: Anyone use these for plants such as orchids?

Yes, for orchids, but keep out of direct sun. Holds in moisture pretty well.

Q: What do you feed your butterflies?

I have milkweed plants in my yard and keep the Caterpillars on it till they look very mature and then put some twigs in the butterfly habitat.

Q: Is the floor smooth so it is easy to clean up?

It is, however I line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup. The grass (poop) is semi-soft and will smear and stain. I have eleven on a plant in the cage right now, so LOTS of poop. I scoot it to the edge with a tissue and then use a hand vac to remove the mess. When the butterflies emerge, they release a red liquid and that can stain, so the parchment paper is double-duty.
