I work for a small college and we make student and special event badges all the time. These are dye-sub ribbons for the badge printer. We are also looking to put more visual elements on the badges. The nice thing about these cartridges is that they use the same amount of film regardless of how much stuff is on the badge. Each cartridge is good for 250 cards so it's easy to determine when we will need to have them on the shelf. If the film is a little loose when you take the cartridge out of the box you will need to tighten it by manually rolling the middle of the take-up reel.

These Fargo YMCKO ribbons work well and produce good quality prints with my DTC1250e. However, I’ve had a few instances where the ribbon ripped during printing, which wastes both part of the ribbon and a card. It’s not ideal, especially during larger print runs. That said, considering the price point and the fact that you get two ribbons, it’s still a decent purchase overall for most ID printing needs.

Opened it & slid the ribbon into the slot & that's it! Very easy. No instructions needed

Our organization uses these to make Id cards. These worked perfectly and at a great price. Will buy more soon.

10 cards in a row ripped the ribbon on the first replacement I put in. I hope the second ribbon does better.

Exactly what was needed.

It's printing pale prints and sometimes totally bank. Called HID and they told me it's defective ribbon. I got set of two and both of them are defective.
