Great for taking our puppy on longer adventures!
We want to take our chocolate lab puppy out this winter for some snowshoe adventures and longer hikes. She isn't able to hike very far yet, and this pack will let us take her with us and carry her in a way that is comfortable for her and for us. At 16.5 pounds, she still has a lot of room to spare. We encouraged her with lots of treats, and she quickly took to riding in the pack. We fold a small fleece blanket at the bottom to help her head reach the porthole. The tether is helpful, although it isn't fail-safe. She almost climbed out when she saw a neighbor's dog. We carried her on the front the first few times so we could watch her and reassure her. The pack is well-made, and we appreciate the extra pockets. She will eventually outgrow the pack, but we got it knowing we can continue to use it as a backpack for ourselves or her stuff when we travel.

Excellent Option for Travel
We purchased two. Good quality, roomy, and functional. They work extremely well for our senior 20lb Westie girls. And they double as overnight hotel bags for us. (We typically use a stroller for our girls at home but it it too big and bulky for travel.)

It's awesome so far. I will have to add on to the decision I've only used it once with my cat
I just got this bag. I just used it with my cat. He is a very large cat. Erik the Red is both overweight and very long he's a very long cat. Probably 17 or 18 lbs. From head to tail he's about 22 in. He comfortably fits. I think I'm more often going to use this bag in the front over my chest not on my back. Probably the best way to do that is to clip the chest strap on first and then pull it over your head to pull it onto you like a Kevlar vest I guess I mean I've seen people on TV do that or movies. I think it's a very good quality and I've yet to see how it's going to work but I want to go biking and jogging or hiking with my cat and I have to see if he's amenable to that yet but yeah we'll see. I think the bag will not be the impediment my cat might be. The pictures that I included emphasize how to use the safety rods or that I don't know support rods that's it. Before I bought this bag a lot of the reviews were talking about how useless those support rods were and they're not useless it's the instructions are very bad! The zipper for the backpack straps it's got a bottom part and a top part just like an easy zipper does and if you don't realize that it's kind of hard to know that the the rods will go inside the very top part of that compartment where those back straps the backpack straps will be able to be checked into. The instructions are very bad but if you ever try to put the straps in which I think if you don't do that that's what the instructions ask you to do then you realize that the very top of that compartment is above the zipper and that's where the top part of those rods go. I think a lot of people to buy this bag never intend to use it as anything other than a backpack so they skip that part in the instructions and they never realize that that little like an inch and a half on the top of the bag in that back compartment they don't even want to mess with that zipper. You never realize that there's a top part of it.

Way way way over priced for the cheap material they used and poor quality stitching.
Way way way over priced for the cheap material they used and poor quality stitching. Otherwise, it's okay. It's a bit roomy if there's nothing else in the bag but the dog. However, if you use the back pockets for anything, whatever is in there pokes into the dog in the sitting area and doesn't leave much room for the dog. The dog gets a little squished. My dog is only 11.5 lbs, so less than half the max recommended weight, but the stitching in the strap was already coming apart after less than a month of intermittent use. You do have to use a towel or some other cushioning for smaller dogs to be able to poke their head out the window. The only reason why I'm keeping it is because there aren't a lot of other options out there for a bag that is somewhat comfortable for both of us. The hard shell bottom of the bag seems sturdy but takes some getting used to as it dug into my back until my back got used to it and it stopped hurting. Still not comfortable after a few months but doesn't hurt anymore.

Pretty much the only option for hiking with your friend
Disclaimer: I tested this with a 4-lb kitten. EDIT FOR FIRST HIKE: This is only one step up from a normal backpack. Comfort was surprisingly fine for me, and because my cat is tiny, she was not impacted at all. But my water reservoir was filled to 3L, and it took up a ton of space in her compartment. Cat area was not as stuffy as I thought it would be in the heat (90 F / 32 C), but the limited ventilation did not take advantage of the breeze. Make sure your shoulder clips are buckled, otherwise the fit will feel off. Lowered my rating by a star because the price is way too much for what you get. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have tried many, many packs, and this one is the only one to have a separate pouch for the owner. This makes it ideal for hiking, so I can carry my water reservoir with me (there is an actual sleeve for it) instead of a water bottle. The membrane separating it from the pet pouch seems thin enough that if I put cold water in it, it should help keep my cat cool on longer hikes in the sun. The two pouches on the side are large enough that I can put a larger nalgene bottle in each of them, which is very convenient if I don't want to hassle with a reservoir. There are two stabilizing rods that don't seem to make much of a difference; I think it is more when you use it as a carrier for the airport. While wearing it, the comfort is average compared to other packs I have tried. Mesh/foam on the back is okay enough for padding, but offers zero breathability. Regarding my cat, it actually has a decent amount of room even when it is on my back, though I have not tested it with a full reservoir, which will undoubtedly change that. However, a longer/taller pet would not feel cramped if sitting upright. There is a little window at the top that can be rolled up and held in place with a latch, which is a nice feature that I have not seen with other packs. My biggest complaint on my cat's comfort is that there are very few ventilation holes: two medium vents on each side (where the pockets are, and could be covered up), the hole in the top (which is doesn't breathe well when closed), and three vertical slits facing the front. While this offers good sun protection, it likely gets very stuffy for your pet during the warmer months. This has not been tested yet as an airport carrier, but clearly some thought was put into designing that as a feature. It has a handle on top for carrying, but I would have preferred a shoulder strap. I doubt I would take this to the airport not just because of the comfort points listed above, but because it does not look like a cat carrier, and it would be easy for airline staff to assume it's just a normal backpack. Also, this doesn't meet the size restrictions for most airlines for carry-on luggage, and definitely wouldn't fit under the seat, so ... take that as you will. Personally, I wouldn't even risk taking this on an airplane for fear of getting turned away at the gate.

Perfect dog pack!
Works SO well for my 20 pound senior Norwich terrier. There’s plenty of room for him to readjust and get comfortable! Super easy to get him in the pack (he actually jumped in and wouldn’t get out), and he feels safe and secure on my back. I’ve tried other dog packs on the market, but this one beats all of them for my slightly oddly shaped dog. I like that he has room to sit instead of being held upright by his spine. So worth!

Best One
It’s is bigger than I expected. After trying other brands this is by far the best one. Our puppy dog loves it. She is almost 10 pounds and has plenty of room. Extra places for storing other items, so we only need to take one bag. Built to last, great ventilation, strong zippers, could be a little cheaper, but worth the price for sure. The bottom is flat and durable material so she can sit nicely and look out the front mesh or sides. FYI we returned the K9 sport pack immediately. Get this one instead. Love love love.

Amazing product
My 13 year old (9lb) Chihuahua loves this! I was worried because she usually gets a little timid of new things since losing some of her eyesight. After a few tries and some patience, she has no problem getting inside and refuses to hop out. She feels safe and relaxed in the backpack knowing she is with me. We will be using this more than expected. I highly recommend!!!

Would absolutely recommend
Really chuffed with this purchase! Once you’ve got all the straps in the right place it’s pretty solid and comfortable on. He weighs around 10kg and it supported his weight fine! My poor dog is nearly 12 now and struggling to walk so this is ideal to still be able to get him out and about and he seemed pretty comfortable and happy in it!
