I am an artist and use gouache frequently. I had a friend who really likes my work and wants to learn gouache. I got her this as a starter kit and I opened it before giving it to her to ensure the quality. PROS: Though the tubes and package look different than the gouache I usually get by Winsor & Newton in the store, these live up tho the Winsor & Newton quality. They are easy to use, easy to modulate the water, easy to mix colors and they are color fast. CONS: The tubes are really, really small. It's a good starter kit, but my friend these won't last long. NOTES: Gouache is kind of like watercolor, but there are significant differences. One of the main ones you have to understand is unlike watercolor the more you dilute with water the less gouache will stick to the surface over time. Gouache has a different binder than watercolor and so watching videos and learning about the mastery of this medium is highly recommended. I have been a gouache artist for many years and love that you can have far more control and play more with layers and opacity. In addition Gouache is great for mixed media and can be used on the same piece as many other types of paint and dry materials such as charcoal, pencil, crayon, etc. Gouache is so worth the little learning curve. Just remember not to use it just like you would water color.

I can tell this gouache is more of a student quality. Semi-transparent. If you want better quality with more pigment, probably try the Winsor & Newton Designer’s Gouache or Holbein. But I am still able to paint with this set just fine!

Needed a set of gouache paints for a class I'm taking. This is perfect. Reasonably priced and well pigmented.

I bought these to take with a travel kit. I filled the small wells with this liquid gouache. It worked well. I typically paint with acrylic in Plein air, but since I was traveling I wanted more pigment than watercolor, so gouache works for me.

It’s been a good experience to use a more artist grade gouache at an affordable price.

Normally when I paint I use acrylics for ornaments and watercolor for flowers…until just last month when I didn’t have either because I was away from home, all that was available was gouache. At first I wasn't ecstatic to use a medium that I’m unfamiliar with but I gave it a shot anyway and to my surprise it turned out way better than I expected! I am a huge fan of Winsor & Newton pigments and since the first gouache turned out so well, I thought I’d purchase this set and see how well it goes. Needless to say, I am not in the least bit disappointed. The price was just right for me, the colors blend nicely and very smooth. A little bit of pigment goes a loooooong way when you get the hang of it. I’ll be purchasing more in the future…might even splurge and buy the large pack 😆 The paint dries quickly, a lot faster than I expected. The size of the tubes are perfect for travel painters who enjoy doing a little work here and there. First and second are the same painting using Winsor & Newton gouache and the last painting is an off brand that I first tried last month.

Es una marca que no defrauda. Es el set de iniciación y como tal, tienen gouaches de mayor calidad, pero para empezar a pintar son muy buenos.

As these were on sale I thought I would try them out. Definitely not designer gouache as they are too transparent. I think it’s worth spending the extra cash and buy designer gouache.
