Excellent, tasty, and, utulilitarian
What a surprise and delight to find this product. I've been eating tahini sesame seeds for my calcium needs for years. I never realized how much calcium there is in the black tahini. I've been using grinded seesds until now. But needed a way to incorporate sesame flavoring into food that makes it more palatable. This product fits the bill! it. Smooth, creamy, and delicious, it can be eaten on his own, added to salad dressings, to a meal, or a smoothie for a last minute, nutrient blast! I love the taste of it and it works with just about anything.

Better than other tahini I've tried
I got this tahini because I wanted something a little different to mix into hummus and salad dressings, and itโs been a great pantry staple overall. Itโs organic and made from unhulled black sesame seeds, so the flavor is richer and deeper than the regular tahini I had before, and it adds a nice nutty flavor to both sweet and savory dishes. I like how creamy and smooth the texture is, which makes it easy to blend into sauces or even just spread on toast, and the jar feels like it lasts a long time. I did notice that itโs a bit on the thicker side, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Overall I appreciate the bold taste and versatility, and haven't encountered any problems so far.

Black tahini is a whole other world!
Prior to trying this organic brand, I never tasted black sesame seed tahini. It is really a whole different taste, texture, and Gustatory experience. First, it is completely smooth from the top to the bottom of the jar. A problem that regular tahini has (even the good quality Lebanese kind) is if it sits on the grocery store shelf for a month or longer, sesame oil pools to the top of the jar and a solid mass of tahini forms at the bottom. Not great. The black tahini also has a more rich texture, toasty and a less dry, chalky taste than regular kind. Though I have yet to make hummus with it, to be honest, just eating tablespoons out of the jar is very satisfying. You can also spread it on multigrain bread and drizzle honey on top for a quick healthy snack. Sure, the price point is a bit high, but the quality is well worth the cost. Iโm sure that this smooth texture can form the base of a black tahini, salad dressing mixed with certain spices that will bring out its earthiness.

Love sesame, I love that it's organic. Large jar!
I need to figure out what to do with the rest of it but you can treat it similar to peanut butter. I like that it's organic and I love sesame anything. I bought this because someone in a Facebook Food group shared a homemade banana bread recipe that called for a black sesame tahini swirl in the batter. Not too surprising it tasted similar to peanut butter and bananas. One thing I noted is it's almost like black ink, make sure that you wash off or wipe off everything that it might come in contact with! When I wiped it on a paper towel it looks exactly like black ink. But tasty!

Ok
Itโs pretty thick, I apply the paste on my toast and it tastes not bad. Itโs very healthy and hopefully it helps my hair grow. I personally donโt think it tastes as good as the Chinese sesame paste.

This isn't regular tahini that happens to be black... but we love it.
We've ordered it twice so far, and love it. As with normal tahini, you'll find the need to stir it quite a bit , to mix the stuff from the bottom into the more oily stuff up top. I imagine that the vibration and bouncing of delivery trucks helps it separate. But it's always been fresh (not too separated, compared with some tahini which is almost impossible to stir back into shape, if it's been sitting on a shelf too long), and it will stay mixed and ready to use for weeks, especially if kept in the fridge. The flavor is definitely stronger and more earthy than regular tahini (I think part of it is that "regular tahini is hulled sesame seeds, and this contains the hulls). Also, it does turn everything dark/black, which seems a plus to me in that generally the colors in foods are the nutrients we are looking for. I've also read that for some people, black sesame, if consumed daily, can help the body turn grey hair back to its normal color. That would be interesting if it actually works. Meanwhile, it's a great product to replace normal tahini, or nut butters in recipes, add to smoothies, use for a dip- for veggies, like carrots and celery, or just scoop out of the jar to eat (which we do sometimes...). Remember that it's got a lot of oil content, so calories are high, if you're concerned about that kind of thing. I love to mix it with carob powder, a little stevia or honey, and some water to make a thick, almost chocolaty snack. If you eat chocolate, you could use coco powder instead. It's got a lot of calories, but it tastes great! One note on the price, because I see reviews under the 8 pound bucket saying how much more inexpensive it is to buy that way... it's actually not. This 3.5 pound size is the better value per pound. Get out your calculator. Prices may change over time, but as I write this, the 8 pound bucket is about 5.62 per pound, while this 3.5 pound size is only 5.08. Maybe that's why they list the price per pound on the bigger buckets and price per ounce on this size. Or maybe smaller sizes of product are just normally listed by the ounce. Either way, the only better deal than this is on the huge 35 pound bucket, which comes in at 4.12 a pound - with shipping added, it's 4.95. Not much savings there either.

Good product but issue with production/quantity
The one I normally buy is out of stock so I have this one a try. Flavor and consistency are great but this is literally a picture of how little was in the jar when it arrived. I had not even tasted it yet, the knife is just there to help with the visual of how much was missing when I opened it.

NOT LIKE ANY BLACK TAHINI I HAVE USED IN THE PAST!
This was NOTHING LIKE any Black Tahini I have had in the past, and I have been using it for years! I received the package and it sat unopened on my kitchen counter for a couple of days. Yesterday, August 23, I opened it to find the jar was a bit more than 2/3rds full of a thin, black liquid that looked like ink, usins a spoon, i found that there was a 1 inch layer of hard, rubbery solids in the bottom of the jar that resisted being stirred. I poureed off the thin black liquid and tried to scrape the solid stuff out of the bottom, but it was like trying to cut into tar. I don't know what this stuff is, but it doesn't smell like sesame and I did not wish to taste it. I am going to request a REFUND, because this is no what I ordered, and I will not order this product again.

Delicious and satisfying
Excellent product! Delicious and very satisfying. My body needs this! I gave "Easy to use" only 2 stars because of having to repackage the tahini out of the pail into smaller containers. I would order smaller containers if they were available, for ease of use and convenience. However, the larger pail does mean a lower unit price. The product is worth the effort and I will buy again.

Great tahini โ poor container design.
It's a very good whole food buy at a fair price. The darker fruits, vegetables and seeds have more antioxidants than lighter ones. It has taken me one year as a single senior to go through the 8 lbs. I'm ordering it again, along with their seeds. There's good science behind 1/4 C of sesame seeds daily for knee OA. I dropped one star, because the plastic container is substandard, being too thin at the closing rim, thereby losing the locking seal against the rubber ring. See images.

The products looks good. But I hurt myself when I try to open it using screwdriver. Itโs so hard to open!

Perfect tahinia at a great price
The instructions to open the lid are right ON the lid. You break the seal all around the rim at the weak points and you pry it open with your fingers. Took me 30 seconds.
