Do you need an additional back support for road trip travel with this? Another piece to go against the seat?

I found that this was good enough, especially if you keep a little space between the backrest of chair and cushion. It kind of nestles you in. Also, if you use this AND a back support, there might be too many items on the seat, thus affecting your actual seating room. If you have back problems, Id just go with a back support and no seat cushion. 2cents.

Is this suitable for larger people or does it flatten out?

I am 190 lbs, weight has been fairly constant. My career choice finds me sitting in a chair in front of computer screens for very long days (40-60 hours per week) year round. I purchased this cushion in March of 2019. It is now January 2022. Thinking I might get a new cushion. The front of the cushion is now flattened to 1 1/2 inches from seam to seam in center of each thigh segment. The back is still at 2" and does provide some support (measured when I got up from seat after sitting continuously for an hour). Overall, I feel the support is weakening and this cushion should be replaced. It's been just short of three years, which is beyond satisfactory for the cost and benefits provided.

Sure. I measured about 17 1/2 wide, 14 long. Looks like it would be too wide :(

COMFY FOR FLIGHTS

I am quite petite 4 foot 11, 45 kg, just as a preface. I use this with a foot sling to make the most recent 5 hour ( X 2) domestic flight comfortable. My butt was very comfortable and I think I could have done a 10 hour flight. It does lift you up a bit and it fit in plane seat. I can't wait to use this for long haul flights! My boyfriend who is 6 foot 3 however found it a bit too tall for him on the plane. It is not so convenient to use portably as this model doesn't have a handle and doesn't have a bag, but I hand carried it, it is pretty light, I think around 500grams?
