Taste, ingredients, convenience. No other can take the stage. I've tried "others". No comparison. And in the end, the number one is the packaging. Number one for "actual" sports enthusiasts. You don't want a pouch to have to tear open with two hands, and then dispense with the chews with two hands like you were at the beach enjoying the sunset. Try that on a bike. Disastrous. You are on the go. The "tube" of chews is perfect. Put it in a pant pocket, a short, a shirt. Tuck it into a short or belt. Anything. Tear it open once and push the chews up as you want them. So convenient. Perfect. Unless you want to watch a sunset and pick out the chews out of a pouch.............

We have used these for all of our race needs. From a half marathon to a full Ironman these are our go to energy gels. We used to use gu and sports beans until we found these. They are a bit pricey but work great to keep us from cramping and passing out. Easy to carry, don’t melt, easy to eat on the go. They taste great and we love that up can get whatever kind you need for your event whether it has sodium or caffeine or just carbs.

Both of our sons play baseball - two seasons here in the South. The spring season extends into All-Stars in mid-July when the temperatures are 100F. In fact, today we'll be at the ball field for hours with the heat index up near 110. Ugh. We keep these Clif Shot Bloks to help our kids keep their energy level up until they can have food. If they eat shortly before the game or even have a hot dog during the game, it makes them sick. But getting too hungry impacts their blood sugar and that's not good either. This orange flavor has sugar/carbs and caffeine, which keep them at the top of their game even in the heat. I like that Clif Shot Bloks don't have high fructose corn syrup or fake ingredients like the Gatorade chews do. I always keep some of these Clif Shot Bloks for baseball season, and with free Prime 2-day delivery or free SuperSaver shipping (on orders over $25), they're the same price as getting them at Dick's Sporting Goods. I've never seen them at Walmart or the grocery store, either.

I’m an avid cyclist and was disappointed when Cliff discontinued their gel packs. However, the Bloks are growing on me and I actually prefer them over the gel packs, because they aren’t messy and I like the orange flavored Bloks the best. The only grip I have, is the fact that the Cliff Bloks are relatively expensive and Cliff apparently charges customers more for the more popular flavors. I feel they are taking advantage of their customers by doing this. All flavors with the same caffeine content or minus caffeine, should be evenly priced.

I really like these shot blocks. I noramlly use GU packs so it's nice to have an alternative to those. They have a good taste and are easy to chew and swallow. They are a good price with one serving size to be three blocks and a total of six blocks in each pacakge. I like that because I normally cram them in a fuel belt pouch and each three at a time. I fold them in half and they take up about the size space as a normal GU pack does. I've used them for longer runs and as long as you hydrate they never give me any issues stomach or degestion wise.

These provide a good energy boost for a two plus hour bike ride. I am subject to migraine and use several small (25-30mg) doses of caffeine containing products from natural sources. Cliff recommends three bites which has 25mg from green tea. I use two which provides just enough and I’ve consistently used during bicycle rides exceeding a couple of hours. They never upset the stomach and never cause jitters. Orange flavor is also pretty pleasing.
