Yes, it also leaves a smell of warm plastic. It fades after several uses, but the smell of popcorn/oil is permanent.

This as all US electric appliances a 60 cycle 110 AC current, will not run on DC or as you say straight current,

Avocado oil has a super high smoke point so yes you can use avocado oil for just about anything.
