While there are definitely parts that should not be skimped on, this shifter shaft cap cover is every bit as good as overpriced name-brand items that sell online and at HD dealers for 3-4x as much, if not more. (The included allen wrench works well enough to install, but yeah, it's garbage after that. Or just use a good one to begin with.) On a rainy day in the middle of a recent 2k+ mile road trip, I removed the annoying rear shifter pedal (and keep it in the TourPak in case the front one ever breaks, strips or falls off), slipped this shifter shaft cover cap on, tightened it down and have ridden without issue 1,500+ miles since. It's not unattractive, and most importantly it protects the splines in case I ever want to re-install the rear shifter pedal. It's economical enough to where I'm ordering another one today to keep on the bike, again, just in case.

Fitted perfectly on my 2007 Fatboy once I took the heel shifter off and finishes it off really well. I did put some blue Loctite on the grub screw to avoid it vibrating out. Been on several long rides since fitting it and it’s still there .

I bought this cap to cover up the spline shaft on my FLHTC, once I removed the super annoying heel shifter. I don't wear highly polished leather boots when riding because I'm not a cop or WW2 military personnel. This is a solid metal machined cap with a good chrome plating, There is a allen screw in the side of the cap to fasten it to the spline shaft. Same cap at a Harley dealer is going to be at least $100 as we all know!
