BORA Portacube Miter Saw Stand with Wheels, Rotating Top Workbench PM-8000

It took me about a half an hour to assemble the thing mind you it is quite heavy all the tools needed to assemble it other than a 10 mm wrench were included. I installed a 12 inch compound sliding miter saw on it and it fit it barely fit, but it did fit, and it rotates evenly. The brand I used was flex before I purchased this. I put out the question of anybody using a 12 inch compound miter saw with this and everybody mentioned that it did fit, but just check your measurements. It rolls around pretty easily. The only thing I don't like about it is the lifting don't necessarily go high enough for my table saw I have to fool around with the adjustments on it to see if I can get them to go up higher, but it certainly makes a bigger difference than the traditional miter saw stands that are out there and it's a lot easier to roll around well it's bigger or wider than the traditional miter saw stands. It looks like it's gonna take up less room overall, overall it's an expensive proposition but so isn't a decent miter saw stand and this looks like it will be a good addition to my collection, remember, you are likely going to somewhat permanently mount your saw to this thing unlike a traditional miter saw stand where you can quickly release it from the stand, but if you're using this in a home workshop environment, it takes up a lot less room. It's a lot more stable and easier to set up, I may in the future change the wheels out to something a little bit different but right now they roll around really well and I do. I think this will be a nice addition.

I bought this to mount a 12" Rigid compound miter saw, replacing the normal "saw horse" style miter stand that had 4 wide folding legs due to limited storage space, and to be able to use it as a work surface when nots sawing. In all honesty, I'd never pay this much for something I could make myself, but I just didn't have time with current projects pending. 1) Assembly. This was a real PITA. The flip top has very narrow clearances against the side panels - too wide and the locking levers won't catch the flip top, too narrow, and it doesn't spin/catches. There are a dozen small bolts on two cross pieces at the base that control the overall tension/squareness at the top, it took quite a while to shimmy pieces around to provide a stable top - and even so, I have to squeeze one corner together to get the locks to work. Make sure you mount your saw AS FAR TO THE REAR AS POSSIBLE - the side wing elevators are centered, but most saws have a fence that's on the front 1/3 of the overall saw depth, so the saw has to go as far as possible to catch the elevators width. 2) Parts quality. Excellent to poor, a mixed bag. The sheet metal work is fantastic, I just don't understand why some parts are plastic. The locking lever, and catches on the flip top, as well as the adjustment mounts system for the side elevators are plastic - I'm not convinced they'll last the life of the (expensive) system. 3) Use - I've gone through a few sessions of having to unpack and repack for storage. When "deployed" it's a LUXARY - the ample wing space supports boards and provides a work surface to catch misc. pencils, squares, notepads, off cuts, etc. When collapsed, the cross bar/handle does not slide up easily for me (goes back to the overall squareness of the sides). The pins are under alot of tension, and you'd need a second person to push them both in to be able to lift the handle - so you have to push one, shimmy 1/8 ", go to the other and repeat, then yank it up to have full use of the handle. The unit has to be tilted FAR back to the person to get the saw's mass over the wheels - it rolls nicely, but there should be a reinforced "kick plate" on the bottom rear - I'm a larger person, and if you just pull the handle back, the unit will roll towards you, unless you have wheel chalks or you push it forward with your foot. The balance point is precarious with the high center of gravity! Also note that the "cubed" storage shape is too wide to fit through many doors. Overall it was a good purchase, way more than I thought I'd spend on a miter stand (actually almost 2x the price of my reconditioned saw). I hope the plastic parts hold up, and it really is a nice workstation when all is said and done. I plan on building in some on-board storage in the base, as there's room there, and maybe figure out a mobile shroud to help with dust collection.

I debated between a 3 and a 4 star review on this product because at the end of the day I really do like the product, but at the same time I am not completely sure I would actually recommend this product if someone I knew asked me if they should buy one. Like many of the other reviews mention, the box it came in was so beat up I was expecting missing parts of at least one part to be bent or broken. Everything was ultimately fine, but it was definitely a little concerning at delivery. The Portamate while not hard to build, is a little frustrating. No step is hard to conceptually understand, it's the implementation that can provide difficult since the cart only comes with a few of the required tools and often requires strange angles for access. I might be wrong, but I believe all of the parts were metric ultimately, and while the instruction do not recommend a ratchet, a ratchet makes the build process significantly easier. Once I had mine built I found mounting my miter saw a little trickier then it should have been since for some reason one of the four locations was sinking lower then the others. Not a big deal since the kit comes with two different lengths of mounting bolts, but if you're someone who has issues when all the hardware isn't exactly the same, I suspect you will have the same issue I had if you like your work area devoid of protruding bolts. Not a real issue since it was an easy fix, but it's something I grappled with. It also felt like the slots on the rails were about a 1/8" shorter then they should have been, which while overcome able with some force, did make the mounting process a little frustrating. Now that it's built, I like it. If you're looking for a stand for a chop saw that you plan to move once in a while but want to be able to slide into a location for storage or incorporate in a larger bench system like I have it's decent enough. It's not the easiest cart to move since it's a tilt and roll and it does not do uneven or cracked driveways well, but compared to just carrying my saw around it's fantastic and when it's all setup it's a great work station.

I needed a saw stand for my Hercules 12 in.dual-bevel sliding miter saw that I use in my shop and also just on my property. This stand has been awesome! It works double, actually triple duty, with its left and right extension tables that I use with both the work-table mode and the miter-saw mode. I won't ever have to load the stand in and out of the bed of a truck, it's not transport friendly. Assembly was a bit tricky... care needed to be taken before tightening major pieces so that the whole unit was "square." Starting out on a flat and level floor I took a lot of extra time making sure that the face/front and (seperately) the top diagonals matched (were the same length to within 1/16 inch). This was tedious to do, but when all the screws were tightened up the rotating top worked very well. The collapsable handle is just okay, it's a handful to raise and lower and other than that I think the "plastic" table rotation locks (located at each of the 4 corners of the rotating table) should be made of steel. Still a fantastic, functional, and super space efficient addition to my workshop.

This table/workstation is amazing! I picked up a DeWalt DWS780 miter saw and wanted a place to plant it in my garage/workshop. The saw had all the features I was after, but it was a bit heavier and larger than I expected so the hunt began for a worktable. I am so glad I found this Bora Portamate because it couldn't be a better match for this particular saw set-up. I'll admit that it just barely fit onto the table's mounting brackets, but I could not be happier with the way it works. Assembly was ok. The manufacturer provided the necessary allen head wrenches, so I just needed my socket set to complete the assembly tool list. The pieces all went together easily. They are fairly heavy sections as this table is very well made. Pay particular attention to aligning the moveable tabletop ahead of tightening the support brackets so it rotates freely and lines up with the locking tabs. Once assembled and after mounting my miter saw, I was very impressed with how smooth the travel was when the saw and tabletop were released to flip upside-down into the storage position. The side wing tables operated very well with a solid hold when raised into position. Once you adjust the raised sections for a matching height you are ready to go and you've got a good size working space. (No more stretching out your leg to catch that cut-off piece before it hits the floor!) If you are tight on space and you only need to work material from one side, simply drop one side or leave both sides down when small work is being processed. The handle's raising and lowering process is a bit tricky for two hands to manage but it does work and the locks the handle settles into are very positive. The wheels carry the load easily so I can roll it right into place for working or to tuck it neatly away. I don't see this being anything I'd roll onto a jobsite unless I invested in a low towable trailer as I wouldn't be able to roll this up a ramp into the back of my work truck. I see it as something I'll be keeping in my garage/workshop with the ability to move it easily out into my driveway or backyard but not rolling it around town. Great product, super durable, and a grand addition to my workshop!

3 stars and that’s generous! Here’s my initial review after getting it assembled and mounting my Bosch GCM12SD on this stand today. It’s heavy, which is a great thing knowing the stand will hold the saw and material being cut. I hate stands that wiggle. This doesn’t wiggle. The design concept is good, which is why I bought it. It’s a HD stand for a heavy saw with wheels, retractable handle and foldable extensions that will store the saw by rotating the table and gaining a work surface. This is a brilliant design that’s let down by the following. Fist, the instructions feel like they were translated from another language as they are very high level. Images didn’t portrait all the screws and theres two size washers that are not clearly specified as to where they go until you read all the instructions to know the large ones go on the main table, the smaller ones for the wheels. Next, I was missing hardware. Nothing is more frustrating and now I need to hunt hardware. The fit and finish on the table ok. Appearance is good, but the main rails you mount the saw to don’t glide easily with or without the saw onboard. The extension table has elevated sections that can be adjusted to level up or down with you miter saw deck. Instructions on this are horrible. As an engineer I figured it out, but the plastic parts and hardware are all chinesism! Also, the retractable handle has pop pins that didn’t find there holes easily. Again, good design, poor manufacturing! At this price point, I expect parts to fit very well and no missing hardware and better grade. The nuts and bolts are low grade Chinese crap. BORA almost got it 100%, but letdown by parts not fitting well, plastic pieces that won’t live long, garbage hardware, poor manufacturing and instructions that need more detail.

Jun2020/ 2 Stars: When I received the box, it was beaten beyond belief but I was hopeful that the contents inside were intact. To my surprise it looked to be BUT once I put it together, I realized that it was not functional. The top where the miter saw rests was warped unbelievably which I figured would be corrected when I attached the saw... it did not. Not only that, but the “squareness” of the frame could not be more off. It was perpetually at 80-85 degrees no matter how much I tinkered with it or adjusted it. The only reason I’m giving this 2 stars is because of the customer service for the company. The woman was really nice and understanding and only asked I send a photo of the damaged product(s) and they would send a replacement. Fingers crossed because I had such high hopes for this product. I will post an update when I receive the replacement. Update July 16th, 2020/ 5 Stars: This product is AMAZING... if you order it from BORA themselves. Do not order this through Amazon with a clear conscience. I just received my replacement from the company themselves and for one, the customer service is exceptional. I will definitely be ordering from them again just because of that.And two, she told me that they were out of stock a month ago, said they were receiving a shipment in middle of July and sure enough on July 15th, it was at my door, double boxed, extra padded and WAY better handled. The contents inside were all together and not warped, dinged or scratch (as you would expect from a new product) but the one I received from Amazon was. After I called to tell Bora how awesome my experience with them was and to inform them about how their product is being handled, she told me that I was not the first person to tell her that people have complained about Amazons shipping and handling. That tells you something... Once put together it’s great! I have the DEWALT DWS780 and it JUST fits but fits really well for a 12 inch miter. I cannot spin it 360 degrees due to its length but I don’t care about that at all. I can still spin it downward in one direction. Tips on assembly: It can be a bit tricky at first but “hidden” within the instructions it says not to tighten the fasteners until the top is installed and has full, unhindered rotation. Once the top is installed, THEN tighten the fasteners and ALWAYS recheck the spin with every tightening just to be sure. I did this and I had no issue whatsoever. Other than that, it’s pretty straight forward. Again, to summarize: Product is excellent but I highly recommend ordering it through the company Bora. I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

Highly recommend this product. I read a lot of reviews before buying, and it's true about the packaging. Mine arrived with the outer (Amazon) box actually untaped (the tape had popped) but inside was the product box which was fine. There was one foot with a small chip of paint missing, but nothing was bent or broken and I was able to assemble it without having to fix any dents. I now understand why the packaging is such an issue as this is a strong heavy beefy product, and it's HEAVY. The cart itself works really well. I use it for my compound miter saw, and when not using that, I use it as an outfeed table for my table saw. I also use it as an assembly table when needed. I was able to adjust it so the wings are perfectly level with the table, and the pop-up material support pieces are perfectly level with my installed saw. Its a DREAM to cut 2x4's on this table compared to how I did it before, always trying to rig-up some kind of material supports from sawhorses. One added benefit is the wings have dog-holes in them, which are great for using the unit as an assembly table, and since the wings fold-down and LOCK, it's also a great way to SIDE support things you're trying to assemble, because when the wings are folded down, the dog-holes are on the side of the unit. It was a bit fiddly to setup, but that's because it's very universal, so the rails you mount the saw on, and the wings and the material supports all need to be adjustable so you can dial them in to your particular saw. I decided to buy this instead of trying to build one myself and I'm glad I did that. It would be nice if it was a bit less expensive, but I wouldn't want to give-up any of the features, or have them make it any less strong, so as it is it's a good value. My only complaint would be that it's a bit fiddly to assemble the unit so the rotating table/saw holder is square to the sides, which is needed for the latches to hold the table when in position. Just not sure how you'd make that easier to assemble while keeping the flexibility you need to square everything up. Very glad I bought this, already super happy with how its working, and if I knew then what I know now, I'd definitely have bought it sooner.

THE BORA PORTAMATE. FANTASTIIC VALUE FOR THE PRICE AND I FOUND IT SIMPLE TO ASSEMBLE. ONLY PROBLEM THAT I HAD WAS WITH THE SWIVEL TABLE AS AT FIRST IT DID NOT LOCK EVENLY WITH THE LOCKING LEVERS, BUT I SOLVED THAT WITH DOING A 180DEG WITH THE TABLE TOP WHICH SOLVED THE PROBLEM. STURDY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT EXCEPT THAT THE LOCKING LEVERS TO LOCK THE SWIVEL TABLE IN PLACE ARE PLASTIC...REALLY? THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE FROM METAL, SO THAT IS MY MAIN WORRY...WHAT HAPPENS IF THESE FLIMSY PLASTIC LOCKING LEVERS BREAK? I USE AN EINHELL TC-SM2534/1 DUAL DRAG MITRE SAW AND I LIKE HOW COMPACT IT ALL IS WHEN FOLDED. JUST ROLLS AGAINST THE WALL OUT OF THE WAY. SAW IS ROTATED UNDERNEATH FOR STORAGE. WHEN SAW IS FOLDED UNDERNEATH IT IS GREAT TO HAVE THE TABLE TOP AVAILABLE FOR OTHER PROJECTS AS WELL. SIDE ARMS EASILY ADJUST AND IF YOU CHANGE SAWS, WILL ONLY TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO INSTALL NEW SAW AND ADJUST THE ARMS FOR THE CORRECT HEIGHT FOR THE NEW SAW. ALSO FANTASTIC THAT WITH THE SIDE ARMS EXTENDED, GIVES 7 FEET OF SUPPORT FOR THE WOOD. MY ONLY CRITICISM IS TO SEE BORA USE METAL LOCKING LEVERS FOR ROTATING TABLE INSTEAD OF PLASTIC. APART FROM THAT, EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS TABLE IS WELL DESIGNED, SOLID, STURDY AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE USING IT WITH MY EINHELL MITRE SAW.

Great concept, poor execution. This would have been an outstanding product if engineering was more thought through. The toss up is between having the bed rotate 360 degrees without hitting the sides of the case or the handle not being able to move up and down freely. I would have been happy if there was adjustment built into the two piece handle bar, but the screws were welded - really? So I am living with the handle bar being extended permanently. Some of the sheet metal is also pretty thin and not spot welded in enough points. If i rated product alone, would have been 5 stars, but lost on execution.
