This came quickly and in a copious amount for my purposes . The bag was quite large. I bought it to use around a table top fire bowl I purchased ( which came with much smaller pea gravel sized rocks) but, in my opinion this size looks much nicer. The rocks were consistent in size and colour and work perfectly . They arrived earlier than expected , which was appreciated as the whole thing was a gift for my husband.

If you want to build a pingdom, these are the rocks you want! I've tried larger black and red lava stones, but they just don't wick up the moisture as effectively as pumice. I've also spend more money on larger chunks of pumice only to discover that these smaller ones work just as well, so yes, these are a good value. The bag contains a generous quantity, so there is more than enough to create multiple arrangements or try different set-ups. Personally, I like to put a layer of ping mix on top of my rocks so I'm able to tell when I need to refill my bowl with water. Seeing as how my other pingdoms set up in the same manner are thriving, I have no doubt the one made with these rocks will do just as well. Just make sure to rinse these well in distilled, RO, or rainwater before use because they are quite dusty.

Nice sized stones. Short by 9oz, the only reason for 4 stars. Probably washed away 7oz of dust and dirt so probably closer to a lb short. Overall they work for a pingdom so I’m good with them. Would have preferred some a bit larger but it’s fine. Quality isn’t amazing so they probably won’t last very long in a fire box, but should be good for a season if not used too heavily. If it was for fire I’d have sent them back and picked up red or black lava. For my use it’s fine, even being shorted a bit. Just wash really well, soak in hot water then put into clean hot water and bring to a boil for a few mins to really clean it out. Tested without extra washing by placing in a bowl of water overnight. The water was very dirty so washed again with scrub brush, soaked and boiled. Tested again and there was very little dirt left. If planting sensitive pings then make sure to use distilled for boiling or just let dry in the sun a couple days after using filtered and soak in distilled water. I used tap for the above but did let dry a bit then soaked in distilled before planting the garden. It’s doing well so far, long term we will see.

These were a replacement for the smaller granules that were not workable due to their size for my small portable fire pit. There are the perfect size to replace the heavier lava rock that comes with so many of these fire pits. In the RV I didnt want the extra weight and damage that the lava rocks would do to the gas fire ring on the bottom of the pit. These are so lightweight and easy to transport. After a while they do break down though as they are soft. When that happens I will most certainly purchase these again.
