I love this tool!! I’m brand new to epilating, but not hair removal from the root. My main method of hair removal for most of my life has been waxing. I’m a hairy woman with course, thick hair. I dislike the 5 o’clock shadow of shaving, so I’ve only used it periodically and in case of emergencies. I’ve also used threading (the most painful method), at home laser, and shaving in emergencies (but my least favorite hair removal method). I’m brand new to epilating but thankfully have thinned out my hair from consistent waxing. I will compare the pros and cons of epilating to waxing. Keep in mind, today is my second day of using the machine. -yesterday I used the machine for my chin hairs and sideburns. It was sensitive, not painful. About equal discomfort as waxing, less than individual testing (because of the built-in massage?). I was nervous because of the negative reviews, so I went slow. It went well, no skin irritation. Since yesterday went well, I fired up the epilator at the high speed this evening and went nuts! Here’s what I’ve gathered this far: Pros: 1. Time saver Today, I completed both of my legs (thigh and calf), my forearms, my cheeks, and upper lip… ALL in about an hour!!! This is significantly less time than waxing (which I’ve been practicing for the last 15 years)! Remember you save time in the prepping & cleaning up after waxing either (I.e. warm the wax, wait for the right temp, showering & cleaning the residue of the body and workspace). 2. Mess-free! I did this while watching TV on the couch. Sure, there’s probably a bunch of hair in my living room, but it’s probably minimal compared to how much my two dogs shed. It’s also better on my hardwood floors than it is In the shower Drain (as with shaving). 10x better than the wax residue all over the place! 3. Cheap!!. I spent 1.5 times as much I’d spend on a bag of wax. During the summer months, I typically go through a bag in a couple of months . If this machine lasts me 3 months I’d get my moneys worth (not insulting the cost of the wax warmer, sticks, etc.) 4. Works on shorter hair (1/8”) than waxing (1/4”), so it’s better for exposed areas. Con: -this model us not battery operated! I was under that impression, but that part just looks like false advertising Honestly, I really like this method a lot so I will probably get a battery operated version so I can use this while sitting in the the car! Hopefully I don’t get toO many ingrown hairs. I prepped my skin by exfoliating in the shower before starting my legs. I can update my review after several treatments. Overall a very positive experience and you can’t go wrong for $35! I was ready to drop the thousands of dollars for professional laser…. I’m making this my new go to method!

This is the first epilator I have ever used. I originally tried it on my arm, on low speed. I’m not going to lie, it hurt a good amount on the first strip I did. Enough to make me consider not doing a second strip! I have no tattoos and never had a child, so I can’t compare the pain, but I did have three years of facial electrolysis that was terribly painful, even with numbing cream. This, was not that bad! It was kind of equivalent to hold an ice cube for a couple moments and then dropping it, so the pain goes away right away. After my second pass, which was needed because the first didn’t get every hair, it got easier and easier to do more strips. Minutes later I got the gall to try it on the peach fuzz on my face. It actually hurt less on my jawline than my forearm. I had to do quite a few passes on my arm and face, but each hurt less and less until it was just really mildly annoying. I think I’d do almost my whole body. This particular gadget has a little light facing down to your skin, which is a nice touch especially for the face. Your hairs are much more visible this way. My skin is a smidge pink (I am quite white and pale) but not even enough to require makeup to go outside to the store. It comes with a little brush to wipe hairs out, though the high speed (which didn’t hurt more or less but is noisier) sort of flings hairs out of it because it spins so fast. The noise IS intimidating, but it was fine. You do have to be plugged into the wall and the cord is fairly short. You’d have to stand at your bathroom sink to do it, but at least the power is consistent. I know with other little electric shavers, when the battery starts to die, it begins to pull hair differently. This also comes with a shaving head and a trimmer head, which I may try out down the road. I am impressed and will definitely continue to use! I am hopeful the hair won’t grow back prickly since it isn’t cut off like how a razor would! Give it a shot!

This epilator was definitely not as bad as I thought, especially after going through countless reviews on this item. I bought this primarily for my armpits because I’m an active person who has my armpits visible a lot, and also because shaving sometimes just isn’t convenient (especially with razor burn and ingrown hairs). I have never waxed my armpits either, so this was my first time doing true hair removal. After turning it on, it is 1000% more intimidating than it looks. You kind of just have to go for it and little by little it will be easier to use. I also think the plastic, spiked rollers found on the epilator attachment are actually very helpful with the pain. Imo, I think it helps just because it warms my arms up a little before using the epilator. It got almost all of my hairs (just missing the ones that are super duper short) and it only took me about 25-30 mins total. However, I did notice how a lot of people claimed it was “super easy” and “gentle” to use, and I do think that’s misleading just because something like this for a new user just can’t be painless, although it is 100% bearable. I played some music with my airpods in to distract myself from the noise and took short breaks when I needed them and it helped a lot. My armpits are a little tender and I did experience some light bleeding but it stopped shortly after. Overall, this was definitely worth it considering I know what to expect the next time I use it :).

I had wanted an epilator for years, but I was honestly terrified to try it. I finally decided to give this super affordable one a chance, and it has genuinely been a game changer! here is my completely honest experience: yes, it does hurt at first! but your skin adapts remarkably fast. on my first leg, the pain was only there at the very beginning, and after a short moment, I couldn't feel a thing! making the second leg so much easier. underarms were amazingly quick, taking less than two minutes each. I will say, the bikini area was quite intense and ended up being the most painful part. it took me two separate sessions to complete, but the results were entirely worth it. the hair is growing back noticeably finer than it ever did with professional waxing!!! a few practical tips if you're thinking of trying it: exfoliate your skin daily for a few days leading up to your session & take a warm shower right before using it to open your pores and soften the skin! the only tiny drawback is that the machine is a bit noisy

i have to say that i didn't at all hate using this epilator. as someone who was just trying to get something for cheap, just to have something that worked ok to see how i liked using an epilator, this was perfectly alright. it breaks hairs at a significant rate, and it takes a couple passes to get everything, but it does successfully pluck a slight majority of the hairs in my experience. it also did that without being nearly as abrasive on the skin as the other epilator i've tried at the same price point as this, which i feel is extremely valuable in a budget epilator, and i feel that this model is a great entry point if you're not so sure about things. HOWEVER. there are some substantial downsides that i want to bring up. the fact that it takes a few passes to get the hairs means that it can take a long time to get things sufficiently epilated in comparison to more efficient epilators. like, i shave my arms and legs with the epilator, which can take me upwards of around 2 hours at times, and given that the epilator breaks a decent amount of the hairs, your hair will start to grow back sort of quickly. although the growth will be much thinner than if you just shaved, it's still something to note. additionally, in my use, i found it not quite delicate enough for use in places with sensitive skin, like the bikini area. additionally, mine didn't last super long. this is definitely partially my fault, i often left the epilator plugged in when not in use, which probably slightly increased the wear on the cable and the power jack over time, but i'm really not sure how significant that is to the speed of deterioration. in 7 months, the connection between the cable and the jack in my unit has started to get pretty finnicky, which has made using it a bit more frustrating, and at the end of the day, that is the consequence of design decisions. at some point, the design must take in to account the way that the model is actually used by its users, so i feel that the use of a more resilient power cable/jack is a reasonable thing to expect, to a reasonable extent at least. and all that said, it's also not *that* cheap! i do think the price is sort of reasonable, given the high price of other models and the fact that it's one of the few braun epilators that can be used while plugged in which could be a selling point for people. but given that you could spend 50% more for the silk epil 5, which can only be used wirelessly, but likely performs slightly better and has a significantly more resilient power cable that will be put under less stress over its lifetime, it becomes just a little bit harder to justify the shortcomings of the silk epil 3. that being said, if the $20 is a meaningful price decrease for you, you don't need to use this in water or away from a power outlet, and you're willing to put up with its weaknesses (and maybe if you're able to maintain the power connector!) this does have a reason to exist. i'm not wholly unhappy with my purchase, but i do wish the product could be improved so that it may be a bit more justifiable at its price.

I have had a Chinese made epilator for many years that I absolutely loved. When I lost it recentlyI was worried I wasn’t going to find another one that worked as well. Well, let me just say I wish I had lost my Chinese epilator years ago. Every blonde woman with a hairy upper lip, or should I say, fine haired mustache knows that there are longer hairs, then there are shorter hairs, and then there are shorter hairs, and then there are longer hairs of those shorter finer hairs. With the last one I owned, It had a plastic safety guard on it, which I liked, so it didn’t actually get too close to hurt me . However, It would never get those “ longer finer” hairs unlessI took the safety plastic piece off the device. I got used to using it that way, and learned how to use it without tearing my skin apart. But there were times when I first got it, however, that I did end up giving myself scabs from the device (definitely a learning curve). Not with this one, though. This one does not get the tiny tiny little hairs that no one can really see unless they are deliberately looking for them very closely with their glasses on. But it does get the longer of the finer hairs. No one cares about those tiny tiny little hairs that no one can see anyway. The only thing that can get those is a razor. So basically what I’m saying is, this device gets more of the hair off and it does it in about 1/8th of the time of some other epilators. It doesn’t have the plastic piece guard that my other one had, yet it still doesn’t skin my face when I try to Get closer to the skin. It didn’t work straight out of the box. I had to put it on the charger in order to get it to start working. But I’m sure once it’s charged it will work fine without the charger. And even if it doesn’t, the way it works being hooked up to the charger deserves a full five stars as it is. It’s only been one use, but I am very very, very, very happy with the results. It’s a bit scary at first Because you feel like it’s gonna get too close and it might be scratching your skin up. But it’s not. It’s simply pulling out the hair and that is what you were feeling. I would highly recommend this epilator to anyone with more hair on their upper lip than desired. I would definitely repurchase if something happened to this one. Braun, please don’t change this epilator unless you’re actually going to make it better, which I don’t know how you can because it works very very well as it is.

For the price of this and after using it 4 plus times on different areas I definitely recommend it. Yes this product hurts but looking forward to not shaving as much. I used this on my armpits, legs, and bikini area. It isn’t a pleasant feeling but I go slow and in sections. I go until I can’t then move to a different area. Super easy to clean as well. There are 2 speeds but I only use the lower speed. There’s a light so it helps show you the hair as well. I read that it’s better to get a wax first then go in with this if you have never done either. Getting the wax on my armpits helped with not having so much hair to epilate right away. Now the hair grows at different times so I will go in when I feel like doing it.

I thought I knew everything there was to know about body hair removal. Glad to be proven wrong! I honestly have no problem with body hair. If I could, I would grow all mine out. Unfortunately, because my hair is so thick, it's a lot more uncomfortable for me. My pits were always itching like crazy, no matter how close to the skin the hairs were shaved. I was told that my pits wouldn't itch as much if I grew out the hairs, but it took me several months to do and it was still itchy as ever, so I always went back to shaving them. I had tried home waxing, but it hurt and was so expensive to have the warmer, the wax, the stick and strips, and the pre and post-wax skin products. I also went through razors like crazy, because my hair is so thick, they'd dull pretty quickly and create these little red bumps or would knick me and I hated having the equivalent of a paper cut, but worse, in the middle of my armpit. I considered laser hair removal, but if a wax kit is too expensive, I'd never be able to afford multiple sessions of the treatment. I discovered epilating through a video I saw online and it intrigued me. Tweezing all the hairs would work a lot like waxing in that it would pluck all the hairs without leaving stubble, and the baldness would last a while. The difference with tweezing the individual hairs is that, unlike with waxing or shaving, you aren't hurting or damaging the skin by ripping it off or cutting it. Sounded AWESOME! When it finally came and I turned it on, I admit it was a bit terrifying. This device is loud. Not a dealbreaker for me, but might be for others. I tried it out on my legs first. I was told that epilating would be the worst pain ever felt for the first couple of sessions, and I wanted to see if that was true. Honestly, my legs were fine and I wasn't in any pain. I ended up doing the whole thing because it actually felt kind of nice. I was feeling pretty confident about it and decided that my armpits wouldn't be so bad. Oh boy, did I regret thinking that. It really REALLY hurt! I kept up with it though. I wanted to make sure my pits were purified from the itchy fiends! Finally, it was done. And NO ITCHINESS!!!!! For several days! And luckily, when the hairs started to grow back, they didn't come back all at once, just a few at a time, so maintaining it did actually hurt a LOT less, took less time, and kept my pits feeling spectacular! They also look very nice. No red razor bumps or knicks and no stubble. The great thing about this device is that it also comes with a regular shaving attachment, which I did use to get rid of the tiny, thin, silkier hairs that the tweezers seem to miss, however, I don't reach for it super often because those hairs don't really bother me, but it's still nice to have the option. It is also corded, which means that it won't slow down needing to be recharged or anything, and the cord can also be removed from the device for easy storage. There are a few downsides though. Firstly, the noise, which I don't really mind, but it did scare my cat a little. Secondly, that I have to go over the area a couple times in order to get every hair. It has two different speeds, but I'm thinking it actually needs more little tweezers so it would only need one go. And lastly, it's somewhat difficult to clean. The cleaning brush that it comes with isn't very remarkable, but the tweezing device itself - many of the tinier hairs get caught around the little tweezers, which are difficult to clean out because the space surrounding them is so tiny. Still, I don't think this epilator is terrible. I really like it a lot. Overall, for my first epilator, it's pretty great and it does get all the hairs I want out, even if it takes a bit of effort. I haven't used a razor since getting it and I'm honestly thinking of giving my unused razors to someone who wants them.

Wouldn't really write a review for a product but this one is amazing. Going from a cheap knockoff brand that ripped my skin out and left a huge scar I was deterred from epilators. I was getting frustrated over shaving my light hair so on a whim tried this one out from a friend recommendation. It does everything so well, works on underarms and legs and arms amazing. Couldn't recommend this product enough.

Very good. I liked the attachments. 10 years ago, I used to have an old Philips Satinelle that hurt SO BAD, I couldn't even use it. But as I saw some reviews about this new one being a little bit more painless, I thought to give it a try. It hurts WAY LESS than what I remember, it's not totally painless for me (each person has different levels of tolerance to pain), but it works well and it's possible to use. My mom used it for many, many years and she doesn't have hair at all in her body now. So, I'm hoping that with time the body hairs tend to disappear, not completely of course, but at least some of it. For facial hair, it broke a little bit my skin but I imagined that since it's a very sensitive area. But overall, great product. In the future, I think I'm going to invest in the fancier and more expensive versions if everything goes well with this one.
