Hogue OverMolded Rubber Bantam Style Grip for S&W J-Frame Round Butt

Product fit my 640 pro . Fairly easy install , just requires some hand strength . Make sure that when you slice the groves in place , that you also squeeze the grip to get a glove tight fit . This grip is not meant to be taken off and on , it’s more or less a permanent install . Every time you take it off, you damage the rubber . I’ve always liked the cobblestone texture of the Hogue grips . Grip will provide a 2 finger grip, so make sure you’re comfortable with that .

This grip is a tighter fit than the original S&W grips that came on my 642. The grip is attractive and functional and is highly recommended!

I got this grip within 12 hrs thru Amazon and while it fits perfect and improved the shoot-ability of my Airweight, I'm debating switching back to the stock grips. The reason is the palm swell creates a hot spot on my thigh when I pocket carry. I'm trying to find an alternate method of carrying because i really like these grips! The Hogue grips protects my finger from being banged up by the trigger guard and the palm swells fills my hand better. I followed the instructions to the letter and it made for an easy installation. You must make sure the roll pin is centered on the frame or else you will end up with a gap. A good amount of force is requried to install the grips but not bad at all.

Outstanding grip for a S&W 442. I just purchased this new revolver for my wife and immediately decided to change the grips to a Hogue, as they have always served me well. The Hogue has a more friendly texture and the additional indentation for the strong hand middle finger makes a huge difference, especially for a smaller hand. The .38 spl is a nippy round for a lightweight handgun and any extra grip traction is welcomed. A footnote: the latest 442 factory two-piece grips are held in place with a hex screw, which is not shown in the Hogue instructions...a H3/32 bit fits perfectly. The new grip is quite pliable, so installing it is a breeze. The little "tool" will help. but is not necessary. However, Keep the "tool", as it will be valuable for removing the Hogue grip for internal cleaning later on. It is easy to slip the grip pins into the internal guide grooves and rotate the grip upward. It snaps in place as per the instructions and the grip fits the gun seamlessly and looks terrific. I highly recommend this upgrade to your 442.

I bought this to put on a S&W J-frame Chief's Airweight to make it easier for my daughter to control. Which it does. The grip feels great in your hand, but the fit to the gun frame isn't quite right. At the bottom of the butt there is a pin that runs across the frame and sticks out on both sides to fit into corresponding holes in the grip/s. Hogue's excellent instructions say to insure that this pin is centered evenly, which I did. Then you use a spacer they provided to hold the grip opening apart while you slide it in from the butt end upward. There is a channel in the grip in which that pin rides. The instructions say to slide it up "using a radial motion," towards the top of the frame "until the stock pin snaps into the corresponding internal stock pin holes" in the grip. I did that and got no snap. Maybe the pins are a bit longer than Hogue must have expected, because the it was difficult to get the grips all the way up, and it doesn't fit tightly against the rear of the frame. I can still see the pins visible in the openings on both side of the frames. The instructions do say to squeeze the grip side together until it fits tightly against the frame. Do they mean to put it in a vise and cause the pins to sink down into the rubber? Maybe. I tried squeezing as hard as I could manually but the pins don't seat. Guess I'll try to remove the grips and start over. Maybe I can see where the pins are supposed to "snap" into. But removing it won't be easy.

Perfect fit for my S&W snub nose 38 model 442. It's my daily so the original grips fell off over time. This was a perfect replacement and installation didn't even take 30 seconds.

Well made and easy to install! Just make sure you are installing it on a S & W "J" frame pistol!

I bought this mainly to have a better grip for my S&W 642, but when I tried to install it with the supplied wedge tool, it was very hard to get it on. The product said that it was easy to install, but I disagree on that part. Also, when I try to get it all the way in, it was a very loose fit. It didn't even "Snap Into Place" like it said it would. The ergonomics and feel of the grip did not make any significant change than the stock grips. They are literally the same grips, but just styled differently. After I try to take it off, I saw "shredded rubber" on the inside part of the grips which makes sense knowing that these grips are cheap. My 2 cents would be to stick with the stock grips that come with the gun already since they are easy to take on and off the gun without any hassle with tools and they are nearly perfect for the gun to begin with...
