Can I blow in gas directly with my mouth?

The outside frame just needs you to blow it up by mouth. That's what they mean by gas. The middle part has a larger plug which allows you to fill with it water.I squeeze air plug to blow air by mouth, it's very easy to inflate. Anyway, it's more convenient if you have an air pump

What would the best way be to clean the water portion?

Change the water every other day and add vinegar or bleach each time. I just bought this for my granddaughter for Christmas, so she won't use it for long, and she has to dry it off after every play and put it in the box for next time.

Is this mat really small? It doesn’t look small, the dimensions seem very small.

The water pad looks small in a gift box, but it's actually is isnt very small it is perfect my baby is 6 months old and still using it and will be for a while longer too!

What age is this product suitable for? I would to buy a tummy time toy for my niece as a gift.

I think it's ok for 24 months. My 6 month old really likes it and it's also catches the eye of my 2 year old nephew. It's fun and colorful and nice and big.
