The Golf Swing

Definitely improved my swing.
This book is written for someone serious about learning the correct basics, who wants to learn the details piece by piece. How each body part should move and feel at each point in the swing. Once you have absorbed the details, advice is given about how to make the backswing, transition, and downward swing flow. But then it is up to you to video (Coach's Eye is a good app), see where it's not right, and make corrections. Definitely was worth the time for me.

Good shot!
When I retired some years ago, I decided to start playing golf again. I wanted to make sure I was using good fundamentals so I ordered this book by a leading golf teacher. Early in the book Mr. Leadbetter recommends that a person buy three yard sticks, one to line up the toes towards the intended line of target, another to make sure that the ball is properly aligned with the feet, and the third to make sure one takes the club back straight, rather than too far inside or outside. So off I went to Home Depot to buy three yardsticks. The lady at the entrance told me they were in the paint department so over there I went. I didn't see any so I asked the man behind the counter if they sold yardsticks? He reached under the counter and handed me one. I then told him I needed three. He gave me the other two and asked, "Sir, are you the principal of a Catholic school?" Oh, yes, back to the book. It'll be money well spent as he's a great teacher.

Great book!
Great book that covers fundamentals for the full golf swing. This book doesn’t include any information for the short game.

Best Golf Instruction Book Ever
This book literally taught me how to golf when I was in college. Best and most simple golf instruction book I've ever come across. Bought another copy for my kids, who are just starting. No gimmicks or tricks - it just plain works. If you have any athletic ability at all, this book will have you hitting balls with the correct form in no time.

Classic golf book
As an avid golfer, I love this book for the knowledge of David Leadbetter and the great illustrations.

Good, but...
I'm a fan of this book and it really does break down the swing very nicely. There are some points, however, that don't quite align with "modern" practices. The grip, for instance, is a little weak compared to what Mr. Leadbetter professes in his more current instruction books. It's a good read, but if you're only going to get one Leadbetter book I'd go for Leadbetter's 100% Golf. It's a little more reader-friendly and covers not only the swing but the short game and putting as well.

top rated for simplicity and clarity
simplifies the swing into an understandable motion. the drawings clarify where the golfer should be at different points in the swing. very much a balanced swing. just turn "on top" of your feet i. e., keep the knees inside the toe line while keeping the upper arms snug on the chest through the ball. Highly recommended.
