Yes, if you read the manufacturers data sheet on the product it states it's excellent isolating properties. Battery terminal grease should only be used on the outside of the terminal and not applied to the mating surfaces. It's designed to shield the terminal from air to prevent oxidation and to insulate the electrical connection.

Is this grease safe for plastics. ie will it degrade plastic on and around the terminals?

Hi, they do not mention compatibility with plastics, so I would play it safe and keep it off the plastic

Yes and no - pure silicone is clear, this is conductive grease so I used it when rebuilding a hybrid battery pack.
