Third year of use!
I'm slow to review products like this one, simply because its impossible to tell their quality over time when you first purchase them. However! Having just set it up this year, for its third year of use, I'm happy to say its still working just as well as when I first bought it. Overall, love this thing. It's my 10 y/o black labradors best friend, he loves napping in the cool air stream. And it's made the last two years summer heat spikes so much more bearable, and its now doing the same for this year too! Its pretty noisy, but thats to be expected as far as I'm concerned. No home AC unit is going to give you an absolutely silent room. But it's no issue for me, my sleep remins uninterupted by it. The window vent is a bit flimsy, so I used some padding and such to improve the seal with the window and frame. All good. It cools my room down in a matter of minutes. I like to turn it on before the room heats up to maintain a cooler temperature when able since I find this more efficient. But it can take it from, say, 24 down to 20 no problem. Sometimes have a little battle of wills with getting the cooling system to start after it's been turned off for ¾ of a year. But I can't really blame it for not wanting to wake up. I can't say I really use the timer, as I just turn it off and on as I feel is necessary. But it's a good size, not too big. And it does just exactly what I want it to. I cant claim to have stored it away meticulously, either. But its pretty easy to take the filter panels off to clean the dust and such. All in all I'm extremely happy with this, and for now 3 years of cooler sleeping conditions in summer it was very worth the price in my opinion.

Cool, powerful and reliable, but with a few quirks
❄️ Cooling Performance I’m definitely a fan of this unit - it works very efficiently and does a great job of cooling larger spaces. At 9,000 BTU, it’s powerful enough to comfortably control the temperature in a good-sized room, and it’s been a real lifesaver during the summer months here in the UK. I did notice a bump in my electricity usage - I’d estimate around 5-10kWh extra depending on how often it’s running - but that’s to be expected with any air conditioner. 🏃♂️ Mobility & Build It’s a heavy unit, so moving it around isn’t the easiest task - especially on carpet. On smooth flooring, the wheels make it a bit more manageable. The filters are easy to clean, and I really like the built-in cable organiser and plug slot on the back, which makes it tidy to store when not in use. 💨 Functions & Features The dehumidifier function is a handy extra, and the swing mode helps circulate air - though it only moves the fan guard up and down, not side to side, which limits how widely the cool air spreads. If you’re cooling a larger space, you’ll probably need to angle it manually or move it around slightly. 🪟 Vent & Window Fit The included vent hose is about 160 cm fully extended, so you might struggle if your window is far from where you want to position the unit. One thing to note for UK homes: most windows open outwards, which means there’s usually a small gap that reduces efficiency unless you get a proper seal. The unit only comes with a sliding cover - not a soft one to fully seal your window - so you’ll likely want to purchase that separately. 📱 Missing Smart Features It’s worth noting that this model doesn’t have Wi-Fi or app control, which would have been really useful for pre-cooling a room before getting home. Not a deal-breaker, but something to consider if you like smart home features. ✅ Overall Despite a few limitations, this is a solid and reliable portable air conditioner. It cools quickly, handles humidity well, and is powerful enough for most UK homes. A couple of extras (like Wi-Fi and a full window seal) would make it perfect, but as it stands, it’s a strong performer and one I’d recommend - especially when the heatwaves hit.

relief
Greetings and glad tidings everyone. I have never done this before, however the relief from this product compells me to write. I have been doing my own head in over getting one of these. Sweltering for years in 20 degrees and more in the uk. After too much looking and too many reviews and so much concern about the venting hose outlet, I have finally got one. It arrived wednesday evening. I am in the uk. Well all I can say is do it. Its miraculous. I have gaffa taped the hose to the unit as it keeps coming off and put it out my window with a blanket. Thanks to the reviewer who did that also . do it do it do it. Amazing. It cools my room in 5 minutes if fact the whole place. And I don't think its that noisy at all. I read somewhere that some described as having the hoover on. I thought oh no because my hoover is very noisy. Its not whisper quiet but quieter than I thought.

Fantastic for a great nights sleep
This is an amazing cooler on hot sticky days and nights, used a lot since buying with perfect results. Very easy to use, looks nice and whilst a quite heavy to put away in the loft in winter it has been a life saver for a comfortable sleep. Wouldn't be without one now. You pay for what you get so whilst some may thick its expensive you really can't compare to the old fashion fans that just blow hot air around your room. this not only sucks out hot air but pumps lovely cool air down to 16 degrees. Noise level is ok, can be noisy of full speed but small price to pay.

Doesn’t actually cool so is just an expensive fan!
Probably the worst purchase I’ve made from Amazon because it’s just not fit for purpose. In its favour the unit is compact and not as noisy as I’d expected. However that’s pretty much where the positives end. I left it to settle upright in the box as suggested following transportation before placing in position in front of the window with adequate space around the unit. The hose etc was easy to attach and of good quality compared with my previous Delonghi unit. Setting up was fairly self explanatory and easy. Having checked window seals were in place, sufficient space around the unit, settings and that the hose was connected properly it was time to switch it on, close the room up and give it time to work it’s magic. An hour later I returned with the expectation that the room would be chilled. Sadly this wasn’t the case. Upon checking it the unit was expelling room temperature air only as per a fan and not chilled air. I disconnected all parts, rechecked window seals etc and tried again only to have the same problem. Still hoping it would miraculously work I left it on for longer and stayed in the room noting intermittent bursts of cool air but no continual cooling. Instead it just pumped room temperature air around the room giving the same effect as a £20 desk fan! This is my 3rd a/c unit over the years having bought it to replace a more expensive Delonghi Pinguino which gave up the ghost after less than 2 yrs. So I do have some awareness of how they work & how to make them work effectively etc. I realise many have left positive reviews for this item with a few stating the same issue as my unit so perhaps it’s not a common problem. However in this instance the unit is not fit for purpose and therefore has been a total waste of time and money. Will be returned and I can not recommend the product based on my experience.

Great performance - But would only recommend with a dual hose conversion
Edit as of 01/08/2024: It's not been the hottest summer so far in Britain, but my top floor, double aspect flat has definitely been feeling the brunt of it. However I can gladly say that this aircon with the dual hose conversion has worked wonders. As stated below I cannot speak to how this unit functions with a single hose, but I'd expect performance to be considerably worse especially when the outside temperature, or temperature in other rooms is greater than the temperature in the room you're cooling. Out of protest of single hose air con I'm not changing the star rating on the review, although I would highly recommend this air con at the currently reduced price of £200 (I thought I was smart getting one before the summer season, turns out the price dropped £70 since I bought it!) IF planning on carrying out a similar conversion as I did You may still be able to find other units at slightly more expensive prices that have better accessibility and features. I have still not been able to open up the unit which brings some concerns for maintenance. Furthermore, the features are a bit lacking, there is no heating function which is technically not that difficult to achieve with an AC unit (that's what a heat pump is), also the sleep function doesn't actually reduce the sound of the fan, it turns off the lights on the unit (basically useless). I wouldn't recommend AC as a dehumidifier, get a dedicated unit for that, but it does dehumidify the room noticeably, but has never shut off due to overfilling. (I believe the water drops down over the condenser which helps cool it as well as evaporate through the hot air tube, this would likely only be an issue when not using dual hose). More notably I've had issues with the thermostat, I leave the unit at 24c target but as far as I can tell the room is getting much cooler than this yet the compressor seems to switch off only extremely rarely. I tend to just turn it off manually every now and again when I'm getting too cold. I can't say for certain this isn't related to the dual hose conversion, but I don't think it should be, as the temperature probe is clearly on the evaporator side of the radiator, possibly it's getting heated by the sun or there is another probe somewhere. In terms of running costs, I've had the unit plugged into a smart plug. It uses about 880W of power when the compressor is on the speed is on low, and 900W when it's on high. If you can stand the noise, then always leave it on high, as the benefit of increased airflow on the condenser will outweigh that slight power increase. How long you want to run it will change how much this actually costs you, but leaving it on for a large amount of the day will usually cost me about £1-£2, at current energy cap rates. Let me preface this review by saying that there is still a very poor understanding of the technology of air conditioning in the UK and it's disappointing that the only units you can get without importing in this country are these single hose portable AC units. I would urge anyone considering buying an AC unit to do some research into how they work (although this is a big ask), however, in summary, single hose portable AC units are incredibly inefficient at the job they need to do. This is due to the INTAKE air which is used to cool the condenser being pulled from INSIDE the room, then pushed out the exhaust. This removal of air results in the room being a lower pressure than the outside, which naturally wants to equalise and therefore will suck warm air from the outside in through every non-airtight opening in your room. This results in an AC unit that is constantly fighting itself, and although it will produce cold air it will never completely cool anything but a tiny room, and even then it will need to be constantly running the compressor wasting electricity. If you have the option to get proper split AC systems installed, seriously consider this, but otherwise this is how I went about it: I live and work in a flat that I know is going to get very hot the summer and decided I wanted AC, but this kind of unit is the only one available to me as I cannot get proper units installed (rental). Therefore I went into this knowing I would be modifying a single hose unit into a dual hose. I will not go into all the detail of how I did the modification here, but search for "Single hose air conditioners can't cool a room - Woolie.co.uk" online, as it has some good explanations and guidance of what you need to do. I picked this unit literally just because it was the "Amazon Choice" - I wanted to know what the majority of people were getting and how easily modifiable it was. Many of the units you'll find in the listings, including this, are exactly the same "OEM" models, and I'm happy to say this one is fairly well suited to the modification. It has a good enough internal seal between the condenser and the evaporator, however I was unable to figure out how to open up the unit to check the internals for certain even after removing all visible screws, as the exterior seems to be one whole part rather than removable panels, it's probably possible but I didn't want to force my way in when it seems to be fine, however servicing in the future is a consideration. One note is that this unit does not come with a window kit suited to the most common casemate windows in the UK. I'd recommend one of these (that supports two hoses) as you want a fairly good seal from the outside. You want to restrict the possibility of the intake pulling from your inside air and you absolutely don't want the exhaust coming back inside. I have not tested in properly hot weather yet but in my initial testing with my modifications I'm very impressed by the performance. I found all of my 17m squared room cool to the touch in around 40 minutes when the compressor stopped running, it runs at about 1000watts when cooling. There is a single motor that runs both the fans for the condenser and the evaporator. As such it's quite high powered at 100w and unfortunately does not turn off when the compressor is not running, meaning you're better off manually switching of the unit to save energy when it doesn't need to cool. I don't personally have any issues with the noise the compressor or fans make. It's not quiet, but reasonable, you cannot expect a compressor to run totally silent (this is another benefit of split systems). Probably would only be unbearable if you were sitting literally right next to it or were a light sleeper (I will not be running this at night so not relevant to me). I will revisit this review come the summer for how I get on. Again I would really not recommend getting this to run as a single hose unit unless even converting it to dual hose is simply not an option for you and you *have* to have some amount of cooled air despite the waste of energy.

Relief for the hot weather, but beware it's noisy.
Portable air conditioners are noisy. 54 decibels on low at idle kind of noisy. Think of walking behind a restaurant and you can hear the evaporators outside – that goes for all portable air cons as the evaporator is built-in. But it's not a bad way to keep cool in the summer heat. The air in the room feels crisp and refreshing when compared to other rooms in the summer heat. In terms of energy, it costs us about £0.32 per hour to run, so it's not great not terrible in that regard. I haven't tried the dehumidification setting yet, but there is some water pooling in the built-in reservoir already – I guess I have to put it on a small table to drain it, as the opening is almost flush with the floor. We tried sleeping with it on the first night we bought it – I couldn't bare it, my partner slept like a log. I've since purchased some reusable ear plugs for around £8, and they seem to have done the trick. Last night I used the timer function for two hours until we fell asleep, and that worked well. Another thing I had to purchase was window covers, as we have top-hung, outward projecting windows in every room. They do a good job of holding the supplied cheap hose, but I am thinking I might need another hose in the near future, as the one that comes with this product is super clunky. An ideal solution would be to drill holes through the wall to and attach the hose to that, but we can't do that since we're renting. All in all, a good solution for the British heatwave. We will see how long it lasts, but for now it's been a releif having it in the home office.

Powerful Cooling for Bedrooms & Home Offices (Essential Setup Tips)
Bought this ahead of the summer heatwaves to keep a medium-sized bedroom comfortable for sleeping and working during the day. For a 9000 BTU unit, it punches well above its weight and makes a massive difference in a room within about 15–20 minutes of turning it on. The Breakdown: • Pros: The cooling efficiency is excellent. It drops the temperature of a 250 sq.ft room noticeably fast. The digital display on top is crisp and easy to read, and the remote control is brilliant for adjusting the temperature or fan speed from bed without getting up. Having the built-in 24-hour timer is a huge plus for setting it to run for just an hour or two before sleep so it shuts off automatically. • Cons: Like all portable air conditioners with a compressor, it is quite heavy to wheel around and it isn't silent. On the low fan speed, the hum is steady enough to act like white noise, but if you are an incredibly light sleeper, you will notice when the compressor kicks in. Also, the included plastic window kit is designed primarily for sliding windows; if you have standard outward-opening casement windows, you will want to buy a cheap fabric window seal separately to exhaust the hose properly. Performance & Real-World Use: Setup takes less than 10 minutes out of the box. You just attach the exhaust hose, run it out the window, and turn it on. One thing many people overlook is that the exhaust hose itself gets quite warm while pumping the heat out, so keeping the hose as short and straight as possible maximizes the cooling efficiency. The dehumidifier function is incredibly effective, but keep in mind that during very humid weeks, you will need to drain the internal water tray via the bottom plug occasionally, so keep a low tray or towel handy. Final Verdict: If you are tired of sweating through the summer months with just a fan moving hot air around, this unit is a liface-saver. It’s powerful, easy to operate, and highly reliable. Just be prepared for the typical bulk and noise of a portable unit, and make sure to grab a fabric window kit if your windows don't slide. Outstanding value for the price.
