Momofuku Tingly Chili Ramen Noodles by David Chang, 15 meals, Vegan Instant Noodles with Spicy Chili Oil Sauce

Overall fantastic. I usually have been eating the buldak carbonara or buldak yakisoba cuz I like spicy but I prefer more of a soy sauce or curry spice taste. Sometimes noodles are too chili spiced or taste almost like buffalo sauce. These Momo ones are the best texture and best tasting noodle I’ve had, it reminds me of the texture and taste of wonton soup. I have to say the sizing is perfect too, enough thickness cut for your bowl but too long or too wide! The tingly chili sauce is definitely a nice tingle of chili, not overpowering it’s more like a salty dumpling sauce with a chili aftertaste kind of like a Szechuan or Kung Pao taste. My only complaint is it can be a little salty and you can’t really make broth with this. It’s more like a thin sauce like something you would put on pho or flavor on lo mein. Honestly though lightness isn’t a bad thing, there’s beauty in the simplicity! I sent these as a gift and my daughter loved them. I have never tried them myself. Large amount for the price.

Taste good, a bit pricey. Glad that I can now purchase at local store.

I had been hearing about the Momofuku noodles for a while and i've been wanting to try them. I would consider myself a Ramen fan and like to try the various styles and brands available. I think that gives me enough credence to write a critical review. I bought a 5 pack of the Sweet & Spicy and a 5 pack of the Tingly Chili and i just thought they were okay. I guess i should point out that this isn't "Ramen." It's more of a asian style noodle and sauce. The quality of the noodle is fine, but not exceptional and there is a small packet of liquid seasoning. The flat noodles are not fried like a regular Ramen noodle are, so this helps with the texture, but honestly i wasn't blown away by the texture anyway. The flavor of the sauce packet was a let down as well. its an okay flavor but the spicyness isnt very balanced and it just ends up being one note at the end. Ive tried these a few times now and even though the serving size is smaller for instant noodles, i haven't finished my bowl of noodles any of the times i fixed it. For reference, my favorite instant ramen is Nissin's RAOH Tonkatsu, and those go for about $2.30 a package and the noodles are far superrior to these, Plus its actually ramen, not just asian noodles and sauce. Bottom line: Decent quality but just ok in the flavor and texture department. I probably wont be buying any more.

I was shocked at how delicious these are. So easy to prepare and addictive. However, the Soy and Scallion were a bit disappointing. Not nearly as flavorful as the Tingly Chili. Bought them 3 x this week!

These are fantastic. Don't really taste like ramen, more like lo mein. And expensive too but if you want the best flavor, texture, and consistency you can get in a semi-instant noodle, this is it. Can't be beat.

These did not live up to the description. I expected a tasty treat because a chef created this but it wasn't even as tasty and much more expensive than the cheap ramen noodles from the supermarket. I wound up throwing them out because no one would eat them.

First of all I'm not new to the world of instant noodles. I've tried most of the brands available at good Asian markets and the better plain dried noodles as well. In terms of the noodles, these are excellent as long as you are careful not to overcook them. The package recommends 4 minutes, though I would only cook them for 3 and eat them right away if you don't want overcooked or gummy noodles. Now, the big letdown here is the sauce packet. The ad copy makes a big deal about the inclusion of Sichuan peppercorn, which is an ingredient I love. If you have ever cooked with good quality Sichuan peppercorns, you'll know that there is barely any of that flavor in the sauce packet. The soy and chilies completely overwhelm any traces of Sichuan flavoring. As a chili sauce packet, it is below average because there are many other types you can buy that taste one hundred times better. Matter of fact you can make your own that will taste better using a few simple ingredients. Given the price of these noodles, which is over 2X what the better instant noodles sell for per package, there is very little room for error here and I expected a much better tasting sauce for the money. If the company cut the price in half and sold the plain noodles with no sauce at all, I would buy those instead. As such, I might try another type of A-Sha made noodle to give the company another chance, but I won't be trying any more of the Momofuku flavors. As for this one, don't believe the hype. Go to your local Asian supermarket and buy some noodles there instead.
