healthy and covers grays better
Love love Henna. This is the third brand Iโve tried and although I really havenโt had any complaints about any of them I have to say there are definitely some extra great things about this one. Huge bag for great price and all the extra ingredients good for your hair. Contains jaramansi to prevent graying hair - score! And lots of other great things in it. It was ground together well (powdery) and Smelled kind of like tea. Pleasant I would say. I mixed mine with some avacado oil, coconut oil, and calamansi (Filipino lime). That was just my substitute for lemon because we had it in the house and I figured why not. The great thing about Henna is you can add what you want. So for people who have never used henna- itโs not like buying a box of chemical hair dye. It takes more time and care but I feel it covers grays longer and makes my hair more healthy so itโs worth it to me. I make my mix with warm water and whatever else I want, apply immediately, and throw on a plastic hair net from the dollar store and leave on as long as I can. I also use plastic gloves from the dollar store. (This bag comes as is with no gloves). The longer the better because henna is good for your hair. I sleep in mine (with hair net on and towel on my pillow) and shower when I wake. So at least 7 hours on my head. Another option is letting the mix sit in the bowl for 2-3 hours and then leave in your hair 3-4 hours per the bag instructions. Now when You wash this stuff out donโt get in a big rush or you will pull some hair out. Itโs kind of like working out mud. Rinse with warm water. Squeeze and work hands gently DO NOT try to get all the tangles out right away. Once you feel youโve rinsed it best you can, Then I highly recommend using a conditioning hair mask. The kind you put on in the shower for 2-5 minutes before rinsing out. Then I feel like when you rinse the second time your hair will be more manageable. I also add a leave in conditioner when I get out of the shower and thatโs when I begin to work out my tangles. I find hair right after henna is a little more stiff and dry feeling but that goes away more and more each time you shower. If itโs still too strange and you just canโt stand it go ahead and shampoo. It wonโt completely remove it but it might speed up the process of your hair feeling more normal. The more you stay away from shampoo though the longer the henna will last so if you can stand to just stick with conditioner try it. Iโd say my hair feels normal after second or third shower. I get lots of compliments with henna. My hair feels healthy and shiny. I tried to switch back to box dye for convenience but grays showed more rapidly and color faded fast, it was irritating. So now Iโm back to henna. Luckily I didnโt have any weird colors happening from switching back and forth. Iโm naturally brunette hair with Gray roots - the gray hairs turn out lighter than the rest of my hair and more copper colored while the rest is more a perfect red/brown that looks even more red in the sun

Covered Gray and Added Subtle Life and Color!
I am a brunette and this henna hair dye gave my hair a beautiful reddish tint while completely covering my gray. The color turned out gorgeous, and I only needed to leave it on for about an hour and a half. It was also very easy to rinse out compared to what I expected. One of the unexpected benefits was the texture it gave my hair. I have very fine, thin hair and it made my hair feel a bit thicker and easier to style because it lightly coats the strands. I also appreciate how little product is needed, making it a very affordable option for maintaining color and covering roots. I plan to keep using it regularly for touch-ups as needed. Overall, itโs a great natural way to add subtle color, improve texture, and cover gray effectively without harsh chemicals.

Henna is a great natural way of coloring and treatment for my hair! Love this product!
This product is amazing!!! I just ordered my second bag! Very natural and great results. My natural color of hair is brunette and I have a lot of grays. My propose using henna is to give the grays a natural color matching my natural brunette color. I tried 2 ways of activating the henna, I let it sit over night and apply during 4 hours. 1) Mixing the henna with lemon and black tea, the results was nice and give my hair a tone of dark red ish. 2) Recently I mixed with chamomile tea and lemon. The color is way more natural and close to my brunette. Still some red ish but softer tones. Keep in mind that the more times you used it the color will get batter or keep changing based on how and with what you activate the henna. Photos: 1) No henna just some grays. 2) after 1st time applying henna 3) Video: after 6 months using henna and mixing with the 2 option. Extra benefits: Henna is a natural antifungal (or at least that is what a read somewhere) soooo henna also helps me to keep my scalp clean and free of dandruff and stopped the itchiness. I hope this helps :)

Fabulous bouncy tresses, here I come!!!
I have 4a, natural hair and started using henna at the end of last month. So far, I am definitely a fan! The Nupur brand is reputable and the price is excellent for the amount of product you receive. Personally, I'm using it for conditioning and strengthening, not for color and so far it seems to be working. I was suffering from moderate breakage and after a good trim, wanted to strengthen my hair against future breakage. As far as the color goes, I recently noticed that indeed, there is a reddish tint to my hair in certain light. In spite of this, I will continue to use the henna indefinitely and will correct the reddish tint with indigo every 3-4 months as needed. I want to keep my hair jet black! As I mentioned, there does seem to be less breakage as well as fewer split ends. What I didn't expect was the dramatic reduction in shedding or the change in my curl pattern. I probably get 1/3 of the shedding I used to get! And, even though I knew it could happen, I didn't expect that my curl pattern would actually change. Well, it did. There is a noticeable loosening of my curl pattern, even on shrunken, air-dried hair. So far this is not really a problem, but hopefully the pattern won't continue to loosen with future treatments. As far as rinsing the henna out, yes, it can be time consuming and messy. But, I noticed that if I divide my hair into quadrants, it rinses out MUCH faster! The henna doesn't seem to dry my hair out, however the first treatment left it feeling a little more coarse than usual. A deep, moisturizing conditioner helped with that. The second treatment left my hair feeling soft, strong and fabulous, even before the moisturizing conditioner! To sum it up, the henna strengthens my hair, reduces shedding and increases moisture retention. If you have the patience, a pair of rubber (or latex) gloves, an old shirt and towel, as well as a few free hours on the weekend, I'd say henna is definitely worth a try! I will be using it once a month.

Covers Gray Hair but Leaves an Unwanted Orange Tint
Good product for healthy hair, but not ideal if you dislike orange color on gray hair.

Great all natural henna hair dye
This is my second time using henna hair dye. The last time, with a different henna brand, it was a disaster with a lot of mess made, but almost no color got on my hair. First of all, this hair dye bag is huge as compared with a lot other similar henna products. I have mid-length hair and 20% of grey. The bag size should be enough for 3-4 times. Second, this hair dye doesnโt have as many as requirements as the other one I used, such as clean and dry your hair before applying the dye, mixing it with coffee or Apple cider, using sulfate free shampoo etc.. I still followed those tips this time, but the outcome is much better. I mixed the hair dye with water and juice from half a lemon the night before, mixed it a couple of times before sitting it overnight. Make sure the mixture isnโt too thick or thin. It should look like the Greek yogurt in texture. The next morning, I added two droppers of rosemary oil to it and mixed it again. At this stage, the mixture should look very consistent with no obvious frites. Wearing dark top with low neckline, better covering your shoulder with a hair cape and gloves before applying the mix to your hair. I used a hair dye applicator to put the โmudโ on my hair. After applying even on my hair, I covered my hair with a 5 gallon clean trash bag, then wrapped a warm towel around my head, then covered them with a reusable shower cap. The warm towel need to be reheated with tap warm water a couple of times during color development. The warm temperature helped with shortening the time. After 2 hours, I removed everything wrapping around my hair, and rinse all the herbs off with lukewarm water many time until the water stay clear. I also applied a good amount of sulfate free conditioner and left it on my hair for 3 minutes. The conditioner smoothed my hair out a lot. After towel drying my hair, I can tell this hair dye worked really well. It changed my grey hair to the beautiful brown red color. The coverage of my grey hair is very satisfying. I definitely will use again if the color is lasting at least few weeks.

Will never go back to regular hair dyes!!!
I continue to use this brand. I have modified a few things. I now mix it in a glass bowl. I add more AMLA. I make it more like a mash potato mixture. I add cinnamon or nutmeg to cut out the grassy smell. I only use water. I now put it on my hair when it is wet or moist. By adding more AMLA, the orange tone seems to soften to be orangy on me. So, now I have not been doing the second step of putting indigo on it unless I want it black. So, to use the indigo, I would NOT put it in with the henna, I mix it separately and put it on after the henna is rinsed out. I would leave the indigo paste on for another 2 hours. But, like I said I am just doing AMLA right now to soften the orange tone. I love this product! I've been using it for about 6 months and have no regrets. I'm hispanic with wavy hair. Since using this product my hair has become super soft and smooth. It has even relaxed the wave in my hair. I've gotten lots of compliments on how healthy and shiny my hair looks. Before, I had to dye my hair almost every 2 weeks. Now I use this product about once a month. I do recommend using their 'curd or coconut' oil to condition. Also, after fully rinsing my hair, I condition it. Other suggestions are to put this one after washing your hair, so your hair is moist. Also, a key is getting the right consistency. It should be like pancake batter. After put in in my hair, I wrap my hair with plastic wrap and then a shower cap. That seems to work to keep my hair moist. You don't want to let it dry on your hair because it will be like mud which is difficult to rinse out. I do leave it on my hair at least 3 hours. Then, I don't shampoo again for 2 days. *Also, one of my friends says she read to add some vinegar to make the color stay longer on your hair. I haven't tried that yet. Also, this seems to be the best price on Amazon from this seller.

Good and effective
Purchased it for my wife and she is very happy with the results. The color is strong and can be enhanced with black tea water or beet root water, depending on the required final color.
