Great beginner project - you’ll learn a lot!
This is a great beginner kit for crochet. I had no experience with crochet and ended up with a cute gift for a friend’s birthday! It definitely was a challenge but just enough to keep going. Here was my experience that I wish someone had shared with me to make sure I wasn’t completely off: 1) Started with the pre-started magic circle. Super confused with the stitches initially, as you jump immediately into the “increase stitch” which is two single crochet stitches on the same “v” hole. The video walks you through the first couple rounds and it’s intimidating to go by yourself. Felt like I was in over my head! I made a couple mistakes and ended up “frogging” - removing all the stitches I made a few times. TIP: Don’t be afraid to restart - the starter piece does not unravel! You just have to look out for the “v” since the stitch marker is removed. I also completed Pierre over a few days (2+ hours a day, total 8+ hours?) and felt my muscle memory improved! 2) Counting stitches is really confusing initially. Definitely write it down as the videos advise! TIP: Don’t forget to put your stitch marker in each round! When I got faster, I forgot and had to undo a bit to count everything again. 3) Right before you stuff the body and start the decrease stitches, it will look kinda big. This is normal. Stitching the piece closed with the tapestry needle was less intimidating than I thought it would be. 4) The white tummy was initially frustrating, there was always a hole no matter how tight I did the “easier” method. I clicked “help” and ended up doing the magic circle which was less difficult than I thought because of the step by step. TIP: For the magic circle, make the slip knot, chain stitch, and crochet stitches bigger than your regular stitches as they will become smaller when you pull it to make a circle! (I got really frustrated initially as I couldn’t put my hook through, and loosening the stitches helped) 5) Sewing the tummy to the body - redid this a few times to make sure it was really centralized between the eyes, and at the right height! 6) Beak - another magic circle! With experience under my belt, I took my time to try to do this from memory, made a lot of mistakes, and really absorbed the concept. Remember to turn the piece inside out. 7) Wings - a little complicated as it incorporates chain stitches, turns, and slightly more 3D. TIP: When you start to sew the wing flat at stitches 1&2, put a stitch marker across stitches 7&8 as it will become harder to see them. Make sure you follow the instructions on attaching the piece correctly each time. If you’re a stickler, make the wing pieces first before sewing on - mine ended up slightly different sizes but it adds to the charm (and I was so happy to be done!) 8) HOOKED! Ended up giving the piece to a friend and tried to make a second Pierre. Didn’t have enough yarn by round 10 so I had to give it up and make a tiny one! Thinking about getting Wooble. Bought regular yarn and ohhhh easy peasy yarn is SO much easier to work with. Thanks Woobles for introducing me to this hobby! Experienced crocheters may consider this pricey but for a total beginner like me this was a great kit to not have to think about getting all the yarn colors, correctly sized hook, yarn, and eye pieces! Looking at other free tutorials and patterns as my next step, none of them are as straightforward. Big kudos to Woobles!

Great for beginners and those who can't read a pattern
I learned to crochet in October 2022. I learned the single stitch and started to create a basket and then a scarf. I had not done amigurumi's yet and also did not know how to read a pattern. This kit is great for beginners because Justine is amazing with her tutorials and she will literally go step by step with a tutorial to teach you how to do the stitches and how to read a pattern. I know people that can crochet but don't know how to read a pattern. I have recommended the woobles to them and even as experienced crocheters, they bought the kits and found them fun and really helpful. I bought this one first on Amazon and I've purchased the rest on the actual woobles website. They do have coupons from time to time, they also have limited edition kits which you can sign up for their text alerts to be notified of pre-sales. I have purchased at least five more kits since purchasing this one. This was the first one I did and this is the most basic one that the woobles has so it will teach you everything step by step. When you get to beginner plus, it may not give you everything step by step but you can still look up the videos on the Woobles website for a refresher. So what are you paying for with this price? You were paying for pretty much a teacher. You are paying for yarn that will not easily split or fray which is really helpful for beginners or just people frustrated with splitting or fraying yarn. Most kits come with a crochet hook. You can also purchase them on their website without a hook sometimes. You're paying for the entire package which includes a lesson on how to create the cute little character that you have purchased, the means to make the character and the confidence that you will now have after learning to create this cute little creature. Is it a bit on the expensive side? Yes at first glance, but when you think about how much you get out of it, the price fits the package. If you have been thinking about buying the woobles products, I highly recommend them. Any of them! They are so fun and you feel really good after creating one of these little creatures that maybe you thought you couldn't do before. And you have access to that pattern and the videos on the website forever. You can also use the patterns after you learn, to use different yarn and maybe make a bigger character. You use the same pattern, you just use a bigger yarn so while you may not have enough yarn to make two little friends, you could either buy more yarn on Amazon or buy a different yarn that you like and make more!

Cute
This set by the Woobles seems to be made for beginner's. They provide everything you need for you to start right away. However, you have to watch videos or print out the card. Each file is password protected and you get the code only by purchasing. I have very small hands and trying to learn a new skill was challenging for me. While the videos were easy to follow it was taking me more than the recommended time for me to create the character following the instructions. I felt like my little hands couldn't hold very well the starter piece and start to crochet. It took me several days to get him finally made, so I would say the kits are nice and seem steep for the price point, but they aren't for everyone in terms of hand types. To say each character can be 3-8 hours I went over that with my hands not large enough to hold very well the proper way in the video to hold. Once built though, the effort to hold this and keep it at home or make a great gift to someone is nice, but putting 3+ hours on a project and you never did it before and having smaller hands is questionable to me.

Fun and adorable
Absolutely love my Wooble! As someone who’s never touched yarn before, this kit made me feel so confident right away. The penguin project was exactly what I wanted, easy enough for a novice but still fun and cute. The materials are top-notch: soft yarn that’s easy on the hands, and the crochet hook included is perfectly sized. The instructions are clear and simple, with step-by-step photos and videos that made it feel like I had a friend guiding me through each stitch.

Great Starter Kit, But Still Has Room to Improve
These are great kits for anyone wanting to start to learn to crochet. I’ve completed 4 of this brand of kit so far. I think the penguin is the perfect kit to start (although I did the bunny first). The penguin is easy enough to do. What I like about Woobles: • The kits come with a pre-started magic ring with your first 3 stitches marked. • The videos are broken into tiny chunks with each step explained and easily watched as many times as necessary. • Most supplies come with the kit, but you will need a pair of scissors. • I’ve never run out of yarn and have always had a decent amount leftover. • You get the pattern when you sign up for their website and can print and make as many more penguins as you want with different colors and styles of yarn. So buy the kit once, make it as many times as you want. Things that could be improved: • A pre-printed pattern card would be nice for anyone that doesn’t want to rely solely on the videos. (Yes, I know you can go into your account and download the pattern, but it would be nice if included). Bonus points if it’s laminated so you can use a dry erase marker on it. I’ve seen this in another kit and that was a game changer for tracking progress. • I’ve seen several other kits include a set of scissors. That’s been nice, especially when they work. • I’ve seen other kits include a bent needle and that would be helpful to add as I find it easier to maneuver. • I’ve seen other kits offer both weighted beads and stuffing and that’s been a nice touch. So far, the kits that I’ve done from Woobles only have stuffing. • Price: compared to other kits, these are on the higher end and do not appear to go on sale or are only discounted 10% or so. I’ve seen other kits, which include more and have decent videos to follow for about $10 less and go on sale 30-40%. Overall: I do love these kits and all of my plushies have turned out great following the instructions provided.

A helpful tip for beginners!
The kit comes with everything you need, but I do agree with other reviewers that the instructions were hard to follow. The video tutorial starts slow and basic, which is great, but then suddenly jumps, assuming the user is already comfortable with the different techniques. I did have to find additional videos on YouTube to understand the different stitches. Also, clicking next on every video tutorial while having the hook and yarn in your hands is frustrating. I had to start from the beginning several times. However, a helpful tip for others - instead of following the instructions step by step with hook and yarn in hand, I recommend watching the videos beforehand without doing any crocheting a few times to understand the stitches and techniques that the instructor is using. It definitely helps with the learning curve. It helped me understand each of the rounds and what stitches I was supposed to use. Like others have said, I don't think this is very beginner-friendly and requires a little bit of extra research & legwork outside of the tutorials provided.

Best thing ever
I’m not into crafting and have never crocheted before but I saw these and thought they looked cute. I started and was obsessed!! The instructions / little videos are so easy to follow and the penguin is just so cute. I couldn’t stop until I’d finished! I even had enough thread left to make myself a mini penguin using my own pattern guesswork. LOVE this. Great gift or just something different to treat yourself to

Perfect
My daughter liked her and had a good time at her work and it was very easy to explain it in the video in detail

Too expensive!
I bought this crochet kit because of all the good reviews. Turns out, it is just overpriced t-shirt yarn. Amigurumi is not made with t-shirt yarn. The video is too long. There is no printed instruction booklet either.

So fun and easy!
My daughter had never tried the woobles. She had never done amigurumi before and this kit was so easy to follow!
