Dogs go nuts for it.
My small staffy girl has never really showed much a prey drive at all. I mostly got this for my heeler boy. They always play very well with all other toys. Well this toy really brings out the beast in her. She goes crazy for it and goes into kill mode. Potential to cause fights between dogs so keep that in mind. The plush covering is okay but it isn't that sturdy. It rips easily. So I started wrapping the whole toy in a small blanket, tying it, and wrapped something else around it and tie it up, like a thick shirt or pillow case.

Gives us a break from the flirt pole
My 3 1/2 month old puppy gets bored of his toys really quickly except for his flirt pole, and unfortunately for him we get really bored of the flirt pole. He won't play with this toy every day, but when he does, every few days or so, it gives us a nice 15-30 min break from playing with the flirt pole. I got the option with the three covers, which is nice, since I can also switch out the covers to pretend it's a new toy. After reading the reviews before purchasing, it seemed like the general consensus was that the sound was annoying, it sucks down battery life, the on/off button frequently operates on its own, and the dogs destroyed the covers. Now that we have had this toy for a few weeks, I will throw my two cents in.- I agree, the sound is a little annoying, but it's not too bad. Maybe if my puppy played with it non-stop for hours I would have a different opinion.- The first set of batteries that it came with died after less than 24 hours, but once I put in Energizers, this has been working for the last two weeks.- The button does sometimes turn off on its own, but very infrequently. Someone suggested putting the button inside toward the stuffed side of the toy, and that seems to work pretty well.- Now for the covers. The one with the tail did start to split apart after a couple of days. The dog cover seems to be holding up pretty well, and my pup ripped the eyes off of the yellow cover after about 30 minutes. He also started eating the hair on the yellow cover, so we had to cut it off to prevent any gut issues. I also had to trip up the fur around the velcro. It gets caught easily in the velcro hooks, making it kind of hard to close and open the covers.Overall verdict - I am glad that I purchased this with the three covers. It could be a bit more durable and the fur fabric around the velcro could have been thought out more, but as long as you put in some decent batteries and place the on/off button into the stuffed section, it should keep your puppy occupied for some time.

My dog LOVES these!
I had originally got one of these from a local pet store. He loved them so much I bought a bunch. He proceeded to rip all the fur off of them and make them bald so he can feel the movement more. Then they fell apart because he played with them every single day. I saved all the balls inside because there was nothing wrong with those. So I bought this set for him for xmas and he immediately knew it was his gift and was so happy and proud that he pranced around and played with it all day. If you tried to take it from him he would run the other way and grrr a bit to let you know he it was his. He got so smart with them he realized he could toss it down the basement stairs get the button to activate and play fetch with himself at the same time. I loved the fact that this has multiple skins so that I could utilize the saved balls I had. I have a collection of them all around the house. Just have to watch out for the ones on my basement steps so I don't break an ankle or leg.

To heavy to through, makes to much noise
There are no instructions on how to replace the batteries and it comes with a tiny screwdriver. There are 4 tiny screws in the battery compartment. I gave up after being very determined to get it done. Give me a rubix cube. Same frustration!

The Ugly, the Bad, and the Good.
The ugly: not for larger dogs. It took my Ridgeback less than an hour to have the cover torn apart and. Destroyed, as well as the pastic ball torn askew. Bigger dogs with large mouths and teeth will destroy this quickly. The starter button is hard to find when the ball is inside its cover. The velcro opening is difficult to reclose. The bad: the motion device inside the plastic shell is battery powered. The plastic battery compartment is secured by a screw (which was missing from the first one I bought). It was present in the second one, but not very durable. My dog chewed it open easily and I found gnaw marks on the batteries. That was frightening. The Good: this is without question the most exciting and fun pet toy ever created. My babies could chase and play with it untl they collapsed from exhaustion. They both absolutey love it. Play time should be monitored and limited to extend the useful life of this wonderful toy. It is far too expensive to keep replacing. I really wish they could find a stronger, more durable construction without ruining the fun aspects.

Broke
It's very cute AND very annoying. But my dog loved it so thats what counts. However, it didn't last for more than 2 weeks until it broke. Not very durable, and cheaply made.

Hedgehog.
Dogs love this thing. The batteries last a reasonably long time because it switches off automatically after a short time. They have shaken the crap out of it and it still remains stitched perfectly. It is tough. The sound stops sometimes but is easily fixed with a bit of a twist or two after taking it out of valcroe closing pouch. No good for brothers Dog that straight away pulled the pouch open. Our dogs are happy attacking it without doing that.

cavoodle adores this toy
This is a fabulous toy for self play my cavoodle loves to shake it and drop it to start it up. The noise it makes can be annoying but the joy it gives outweighs that. It has survived a couple of months maybe not suitable for a rough chewer.

Not made well enough
I have a miniature dachshund and he killed this in no time. Normal toys, he does not chew or tear apart, but ones that make noise, he does try. The first problem with this, is that there is not enough room for the ball inside the owl without it pushing on the seam of the Velcro. It’s super easy for the ball to come out of the toy itself. So no matter how many times I put it back in, my dog just got it back out and broke the ball. I considered stitching it but then it becomes impractical.

Cute and Fun
This toy vibrates, shakes, and squawks in such a way that it triggers the killer instinct in our miniature Schnauzer. We don't leave this toy out all the time, only to bring it out when we feel he needs some excitement. He barks, and attacks this thing, and it helps blow off some steam that usually builds up in a high strung dog like ours. The only thing is the noise from the toy can get on our nerves after a few minutes, so we distract him from it, and put it away until the next time, which helps keep him from getting bored with it. But it's fun in short segments. So far it's working good, and takes whatever abuse our doggie dishes out.
