I am quite happy with my ET-4800 purchase. From wirelessly connecting to my Mac to software installation to adding the ink, it was easy to set up. I feel you can't go wrong with this level of ink capacity. It holds so much ink without the bother and added expense of frequently replacing cartridges. I will never go back to a cartridge machine. I don't care who makes it! I've used my printer several times so far, and each time it has done a great job by giving me the colors and clarity that I expected. This is the first printer that I've owned that wasn't a front-feeder. I wasn't sure how I would like that, but I've found that holding the paper straight and then dropping it into the slot rather than placing it, gives the best result for paper alignment. For my needs, I have only used it one sheet of paper at a time. So if you are wanting to load several sheets at once, your loading experience may be different from mine. But just make sure that you do not load more than 100 sheets at a time, per the manufacturer's instructions. Also, be sure that the movable paper guides are in the correct spots for the size of paper being used, without any buckling. To date, I have not used the scanner, but it is definitely a feature that I did not want to be without, so I'm looking forward to using it. The display window, though small, is simple to follow along with, and I appreciate that the angle of the keypad can be adjusted. Working with the Epson Smart Panel app gives a bit more flexibility, particularly if you're not right next to your printer and want to check the ink levels or start a printing job. To use the app, be sure that you turn on your printer first and that both the printer and your device are set to the same wi-fi, so that the app can find your printer and you can begin operating it from afar. Once inside of the app, be sure to check out the "Other Features Menu" from the app's homescreen. There is a link to another Epson app that can be used to boost your creativity and streamline layouts for collages, and a colorful guide full of project ideas that outline everything that you need for each project and how to execute them. There's even a feature for sharing what you've scanned and submitting it as an assignment. This is something that you'd want to read more about to see if it is an applicable and helpful addition for you. You can use the search term, "google classroom in epson smart panel app," to find out more. There is only one downside that I have found at this point. The pull-out paper catching tray in the front feels flimsy. It seems out of place on an otherwise sturdy machine. But so far, I've had no problems with it. I just take my time pulling it out, flipping down the end, folding it back up, and pushing the tray back in. I figure if I baby it a bit, then all should be well. Overall, I really like the Epson ET-4800 as much as my ET-5170. I feel it performs well at an acceptable price point.

I have been wanting a color printer for some time now, and I had done some research and picked this one. I love this printer! The set-up instructions were very easy to follow, and normally I struggle with printers and make my husband do it. Not this time! I was able to do it all by myself. I have been so impressed with the ink usage (or lack there of) with this printer. I have printed several things that have looked like they would use a ton of ink, but my ink levels have hardly gone down! It makes color printing fun and worth it again knowing that I am not spending a fortune on ink all the time. I have not had any issues with the paper jamming, and I have printed close to 100 pages now. I highly recommend this color printer!

Update-I have a problem in that the print options I see are not the same as the manual shows I should have. There is no way to contact Epson by phone or even chat (that I have been able to find). I did get an email response about 8 hours after sending my email, but all it did was repeat what was in the manual and never acknowledged that I had already tried those steps. Based on the poor Epson support I can't give this product more than one star. I've used HP for used and been satisfied except the last two died fairly quickly so decided to try Epson. So far it is just OK. Set up wasn't too difficult. The password was for the webpage was not where Epson said it would be nor in the correct format. Once in, you can't set up the wifi through the web page even if you are already on ethernet. You just get system error messages. Doing all the firmware updates that are required before you can even do anything took more than 20 minutes. Paper feed is from the back. This probably helps prevents paper misfeeds but is not my favorite. It just collects dust and dirt to get into the feed. I am using on a MAC and in spite what everything says, there is no "draft" option for printing., though there is when you "AirPrint" from your phone. If the ink level gauge is at all accurate it is using a LOT of ink. Will have to see what it is like after I have printer more than 10 pages. Scanner is ok in both flatbed and feeder. Photo print quality is quite good, but no matter what I do with the paper size settings it says there is a mismatch that I have to go through a multistep process. Document printer appears to be pretty good. Print speeds are SLOW and it is noisy.

Printer Review from an Artist. Printer cost with a 3-year extended warranty - $199.00. Came with four full bottles of Ink. Each bottle was huge, and enough to completely fill up the tanks. In my old Epson printer that used Epson 127 Ink Cartridges a cartridge held 8ml of ink. The cost per cartridge for the XL Black was $31.00 on Amazon. In comparison, a bottle of ink for the tank printer costs $15.00 and holds 65ml. The Epson 127 Ink Cartridge is rated at 175 pages for the XL cartridge and the Tank Printer is rated at 4500 pages per bottle of ink. So, the difference in cost is striking. Unboxing the printer was simple enough. The printer weighs about half the weight of my old Epson printer. The new printer does not have printer drawers but, back feed only. This actually worked out well for me since I was constantly taking the paper in out and out of the drawers when changing paper size. Also, with this direct paper feed, I figure it will handle my heavier weight card stock paper that I use for my art and greeting cards. To my great surprise, the printer offers two-sided printing. This is really handy when printing my Zines. The printer setup was extremely easy as they recommend a phone app, that walks you through each step with pictures. And it communicated perfectly with the phone for the setup. It takes about 15 minutes to completely set up the printer. I have learned to not rush setup. Take your time, and follow the instructions step by step, Which include filling the tanks. Features, * The printer dues Dual-Sided Print - Great for zines. * It has fax capability, but we do not have a landline, so that will not be used. * It does copying, with a document feeder or you can lift the feeder and place the document on the glass. * I mostly use my Epson Precision San copier but it is nice if you wish to make a quick copy of a document. * Some reviews complained about the very small LED display but I find that by using the app or computer I can control all that I need to do. Print Alignment. I did this test but the printer heads did not require any alignment. During the setup process, the program installs the printer driver on my computer. However I found it to be the very basic driver, and I went to the Epson Website and downloaded and installed the latest driver which is very robust and has all the settings that I needed. The printer's footprint is smaller than my old printer. And my old printer had two paper drawers, though I never used the second drawer. Negatives. The output tray is flimsy and seems like it would easily break if bumped when I walked past the printer, so I have to be careful about this. So far I do not see a way of checking the ink levels from the computer. And they said in the instructions to be sure to check your ink levels. You can see on the front of the printer, where you can see the ink levels. When you purchase more ink, you can attach the bottle and it will not overfill the tanks, and you can then use more ink from the bottle later. So I will purchase a complete set of ink and keep it and as it runs low with about 1/4 left in the tank, I will just fill it up. So far I am very happy with the investment and now printing and ink cost is not a major factor. And I figure I will do a lot of printing with this printer when the holiday season rolls around for my greeting cards. As for print quality, I will need to report on this later, though there were no negative reviews of print quality. A test print on regular paper and the colors seemed to be spot on. One note, I still will continue to use my Canon Pro-300 Wide Printer for my Fine Art Prints, but the new Tank Printer will be my studio workhorse.

Pros & Cons Pros 1. The ink usage on this is AMAZING. I print a lot of things day to day and since I got this almost a year ago, I've only had to replace the ink ONCE. I think they said something like 48,000 pages (B&W) are printable with this system per ink fill. 2. Super Easy Set Up. It almost does it all by itself. Connects to almost any device fairly easily. 3. Extremely fast. I print music bingo cards mostly on this. It'll print about 40 pages in about 5 to 7 minutes. 4. Ink is decently priced. For how long it lasts and how much you get when you buy new bottles, this is where it excels in cost effectiveness. 5. Unlike some of my other printers, if you run out of one color of ink, the whole system doesn't shut down and make you buy all the colors to get it back to normal. 6. Changing the ink is SUPER easy. Basically, it's open the bottle, open the tank, pop on the bottle and watch it fill. It won't over fill unless you squeeze the bottle or put it back on if it's already full. 7. Very compact design so it doesn't take up much room on my desktop. Cons: 1. (This unit) Only prints one sided. This one is on me because I didn't read the description well enough. 2. Card stock seems to slip a bit when going through the rollers. I sometimes get crooked printing, but only intermittently. 3. Color quality isn't the best, but what I need it for, it's passable. 4. There isn't an automatic ink sensor so it constantly tells you to check ink levels, even if you've just filled it. That gets annoying. 5. You get bloatware on your computer when downloading the control app. You get all sorts of Epson this and Epson that for stuff I probably will never use. 6. I didn't change the empty ink tank in time and it clogged up the nozzle. It took a few cleanings to get it to work right again.

I bought this because my HP printer told me I needed yellow ink to allow a b/w page print! This Epson is a brilliant design with a customer oriented business philosophy. I have "ink freedom" and a friendly user interface. I was worried about plugging it into Linux, but it was flawless and beautiful. I'm embarrassed to say that I used the phone app to install it, but it was just too damn easy to say no. The phone app install did EVERYTHING step by step, A-B-C, easy as 1-2-3. And I can print from my phone too!

JUNK...once setup with ink, wireless, etc it CAN NOT be returned. Paper feed is a joke -- not a tray just a feed from behind the printer, sticking up. What paper can be placed in it is extremely difficult to put into it the very small slot. The paper will 'print' crooked once it comes out. NOISE, lots of it! Takes up a lot of vertical space & the paper that comes out goes well beyond the front of the printer. Not easy to use. Print speed in slower. NO printer instructions! I called Epson Company will did not help with receiving a manual unless it comes from one of their stores. They put me to call center & ALL I RECEIVED FROM THEM WAS THE FRONT OF THE CONTROL PANEL BUTTON graphic info picture. They refused to acknowledge I wanted the whole manual. ONLY a sheet of paper on how to connect printer, then a confusing message about MacOS not being supported after next update UNLESS I hook up to something they want me to download. Called computer engineer I know, said it's BS, do not install it & my computer will print without their insistence that I do what is requested.

I have had many, many printers over the many years at the business and for home. I honestly think this is the best value for what I need. The eco tank is fabulous. This is the first printer I have purchased with the ecotank. So much better than the cartridges. The quality is good and it was easy to setup and put on the network. I did wait a few months before writing this review to truly test it out and write a fair review. I am pleased. I have had Epson products in the past and do appreciate their quality and affordability.

I like it. After the experience with the high cost of an HP that accepts name brand cartridges ($200/set!!) only; this EPSOM is awesome. It took about 20 minutes to set up, the paper sits outside the printer, and it doesn’t do duplex printing - but apart from that it’s a breeze. The app is free and no subscriptions, and any quality ink will work. I particularly like the gauge that shows you the amount of ink left in each tank. Refilling is a breeze; with barely any mess - put a newspaper down just in case - and the ink lasts a while. Printing quality is enhanced by a fine-tuning feature; and it connects to WiFi and my phone easily - just keep them close together for the initial setup. I haven’t begun exploring the extra features or the photo quality; but everything up to now is making me very happy.

I like this printer because it holds a lot of ink and does not have to be replaced by a fresh printer head with every cartridge. The instructions to set it up were fairly simple but it does take about 15 minutes for the entire process to complete as it aligns the print head, sets up the ink, and then there's some tests that you need to run to make sure that the ink comes out smoothly when it prints. They do recommend printing regularly to keep the ink from drying up. So I print something once a week with just a bit of color to make sure everything runs smoothly. It was not clear that extra parts would have to be ordered, for example there is a part that catches all the extra ink that needs to be replaced when full. And a cleaning kit that needs to be bought as well to keep the printhead running smoothly. And each bottle of ink fills each receptacle perfectly. The only option on this printer that kind of makes me scratch my head is a fax function. I don't know many people who have a landline anymore. But I 100% recommend.

TERRIBLE PRINTER. Error messages all the time. Printed one page and copied one page. It says there is a paper jam. Follow all the steps; no paper stuck. Repeat. The direction window is very tiny. Difficult to read. JUNK

Great printer, ink lasts so long easy to use

This was the most complicated setup procedure I've ever experienced with an all-in-one printer/scanner/fax. Of course, who uses fax any more? The computer could not find the printer, so I had to use the tiny LCD screen on the printer to identify the wifi network and then manually enter the long Bell password. Instructions were sadly lacking for this procedure. Filling the ink tanks was easy; the bottles are self-emptying, but the magenta bottle dribbed some ink after being removed from the ink tank. We wanted an ink-tank printer because ink cartridges hold a ridiculous small amount of ink and are very expensive. Setting up the second laptop was much, much easier. The printer feels flimsy, but it feeds the paper OK and the print quality is outstanding. So if you can get past the complicated setup procedure, this printer should serve you well.
