SkinSmart Antimicrobial Eczema Therapy, Hypochlorous Acid Spray, 8 oz

I wish I’d thought to take before/after photos, but—having dealt for weeks with the gross, blistery, weeping eczema that was completely covering my left-inner forearm and creeping up my other arm and my midsection—I was in no mood to collect photo evidence. Backstory on my eczema is I never had it as a kid and have none of the red flags, like asthma, sensitive skin, or allergies, that often correlate with eczema. I just started getting it in the last few years, and it only seems to flare up in the spring and summer, but when it does, it’s BAD, with one infected swath requiring a trip to urgent care and two prescriptions to clear it up. I spent months last year in oatmeal baths trying to get some relief. I was duly freaked out when it started up again this month. About a week and a half ago, feeling pretty miserable and knowing the most likely treatment a dermatologist would prescribe was a corticosteroid cream (which I prefer to avoid), I did an Amazon search for “eczema treatment.” The rave reviews for SkinSmart seemed too good to be true, but I liked that many were quite specific/descriptive and sounded as if they came from actual eczema sufferers. I didn’t love that it “smells like the pool,” but the price was right for a shot in the dark. I received the spray a week ago and immediately spritzed it generously all over my rash several times that day and each day since, applying and letting it dry completely after showering in the morning, again in the afternoon, and once more before bed. The fluid-filled blisters on my inner forearm started drying out within the first 24 hours, and by three days in were mostly gone. Within 5 days, all areas of rash had flattened out, and by that I mean: no blisters, no redness, and no swelling remaining. The spray also killed developing rash before it could get worse. The only remaining evidence of the horrid flare-up that made me want to crawl under a rock last week is some skin discoloration (which I know will eventually fade). The most impressive thing about this stuff is how quickly it starts working. It kicked in faster than the antibiotics and oral steroid I was prescribed when I had infected eczema a few years ago, without the nasty side effects. Does it smell like the pool? Yeah. Do I care? NOPE. Because IT WORKS. NOTE: This is not a moisturizing product. It dries out the rash and leaves fairly dry skin behind, but that’s easily remedied by using a moisturizer designed for eczema (I use Eucerin for Eczema or Cerave Eczema Oil) periodically. I used no moisturizing product for the first several days (per manufacturer’s advice), but once the blisters and gross crustiness had cleared up, I applied cream once daily after my morning application of SkinSmart had dried completely. The mystery of why I suddenly developed severe eczema in my late 40s remains unsolved, but I’m overjoyed to have found an affordable product that will help me kick its ass until I figure out how to prevent it altogether!

This antibacterial spray is a miracle worker. I use it on scrapes to speed up the healing process as well as acne and it clears it up quickly. The spray is great for the summer to spray on your armpits and growing to keep funky smell smells away in the heat. I had a scrape on my eye and this was safe enough to put on my eyelid- healed within 24 hours it was healed. The spray does have a bleach/ chlorine like smell to it.

I used this FDA approved skin cleanser spray for eczema and other skin conditions and the itch and rash went away fairly quickly! The best feature is that it’s easy to apply with the spray because my rash is on my back so I can’t reach. The spray is much easier and efficient. Will buy again. Soon

Only thing that cleared up my daughter’s eczema. She’s 6 and scratches a lot especially during her sleep. It didn’t dry her skin out and you can use it with cream or lotion after it air dries. I used shea butter or whatever unscented cream we had on hand. It’s does have a pool chlorine type smell but not overwhelming and dries unscented. The picture was one of her bad breakouts that started getting better as soon as we started using the spray. Her leg was completely clear in a little over a week.

My entire life I’ve suffered from eczema but this is the first product that has made such a dramatic change and worked instantly! First day I had instant relief! My flares up come up horribly during the warmer and colder months and my legs and arms have been pretty annoying the past couple of weeks until I used this. By the second day it was GONE! The bumps where slightly there but they were small and non itchy. By the end of the week my skin was completely smooth. I wish I took a photo but I honestly didn’t think it was going to work. In my experience, eczema has appeared everywhere on my body but mainly my arms, legs and neck. My son who is two, has his mainly on the top of his hands. It’s a tricky spot since we’re constantly washing them throughout the day. I thought I was seeing some improvements the first couple of days but now it’s the second week and his hands are red and bumpy again. It could be the hot days we’ve been having because like me, his flare ups get pretty bad with the hot or cold weather changes. Eczema started appearing on my right ankle yesterday so I sprayed the product on once and next day there was zero itch and again, bumps are small. This has been a blessing for someone like me who’s had to deal living with having eczema their entire life. I wish this product was out during my preteen and teenage years because I would wear sweaters even during the hot summer months to my skin out of the sun that’s how bad it was. Keeping my skin out of the sun. Also it was pretty embarrassing. ***Update*** Using this product combined with prescribed hydrocortisone cream has smoothed out my sons hands. Unfortunately, using it alone does nothing but adding the ointment helps tremendously!

I originally purchased this because I kept hearing people describe it as a more affordable alternative to Tower 28’s hypochlorous acid spray. Since the bottle is much larger, it seemed like a good value, especially if hypochlorous acid was going to become a staple in my routine. I was also hoping it would help with my acne because that was one of the most common claims I saw online. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice any meaningful improvement in my breakouts while using it. That said, I did find a practical use for it. I would often spray it on my face before reapplying sunscreen during the day, after the gym, or anytime I wanted to freshen up my skin before I had the opportunity to properly wash my face. In those situations, it felt convenient and refreshing. The reason I’m giving this review a moderate rating rather than a poor one is that I used the entire bottle. It wasn’t irritating, it was easy to incorporate into my routine, and the large size lasted a long time. However, when I evaluate whether a product earned a permanent place in my routine, I have to ask whether it made a noticeable difference. For me, the answer is no. My skin looked largely the same before and after finishing the bottle. If you’re curious about hypochlorous acid, this is a reasonably priced way to try it. But if you’re expecting dramatic improvements in acne or overall skin appearance, my experience didn’t support the hype. Would I use it if someone gave me another bottle? Sure. Would I spend my own money to repurchase it? Probably not.

Works great when paired with an emollient

Reviewing SkinSmart Antimicrobial Eczema Therapy with Hypochlorous Acid I have never had eczema in my life, until recently. I ate wasabi dried peas, and had what I thought was an allergic reaction. The resulting rash around my nose and mouth lasted for nearly 6 weeks. I tried everything I read about how to cure, and while some solutions improved the rash, nothing cured it. This product didn't cure it either, but it did improve it. I started using it multiple times per day, and applied 99% alcohol using Qtips. Finally, the eczema slowly disappeared after about two weeks using this treatment protocol multiple times each day. Along the way, I learned this product is fantastic for keeping my facial skin blemish free. I'm in my 60s, but still get pimple like breakouts if I don't keep my face cleaned every day, which also dries my skin out (moisturizing cleansers contribute to breakouts, so I use an organic, natural soap). After cleaning, I apply retinol, let it absorb, then spray this product on my face and let air dry (morning and bedtime). Bingo !! My skin stays clear and moisturized without any dryness. More recently, I stopped using cleanser all together, which tends to strip natural oils. sway I simply clean with warm water, apply retinol, spray SkinSmart. This technique should keep my facial skin in good condition for decades to come. Note: I have used retinol since my 30s, and I get botox in my elevens and forehead once a year. I still have no wrinkles on my face, pretty amazing for being in my 60s, but then I started early in my 30s with retinol (used to require a script). Highly recommend this product for keeping blemishes away.
