When I first found this crimping tool, initially I thought surely this can't be that good, considering the size and price. None the less I decided to buy one and give it a try for an electrical upgrade project I was implementing on my 97 Ram diesel truck. Wow, was I surprised when I saw how great this tool worked. I used it to crimp a #4 AWG power cable lug onto a 4-AWG main power cable for a compact power distribution center (PDC) to a #4 lug with 3/8" stud hole. I needed this power cable to have a very solid and reliable connection to my truck's original PDC, as I was using this additional PDC to upgrade my headlight wiring with 12-AWG wire and 30/40 amp relays for low and high beams as well as provide additional fused power leads for other upgrade lighting projects. This little tool design is very well thought out and is so simple, which makes it an elegant solution for DIYers needing reliable crimps on larger critical power and ground wires every now and then. Not only was I surprised how well it crimped the lug onto my large power cable, it did so very easily, quickly and with much less effort than I thought it might take. I also like how physically small it is for such a powerful tool. If I ever have another need to crimp lugs onto large wires for practically any project, this little jem will be my go-to for any such future projects.

Worked perfectly for my small 6 cable project. Great combination of price point and utility. I appreciate the small size and mobility; it can live onboard in my RV toolbox. I also liked that you can easily index each terminal in exactly the same location, giving very professional results. There is a small learning curve to using sufficient force to properly secure the terminals every time. Almost enough whacks looks a lot like enough whacks, but I got it after one or two tries. If you plan larger/more frequent projects, there might be better options. But for my smaller and infrequent needs, this is an excellent option at a very attractive price point. For you shade tree mechanics (like I used to be), this tool is WAY better than a hammer and an anvil (rock). LOL.

I was not to sure of this hammer crimping tool but after using it to fabricate all my BIG 3 cables for my 1982 Wagoneer, it works great! I like the fact the arm is spring loaded and the tool is heavy, solid! It made easy work crimping on my annealed lugs to my 1/0 gauge wire super easy and fast. One everything is lined up the first hit locks the lug and wire into place, two more hits and it's locked. You can feel on the third strike it's done because it is a very solid feel with an audible tone. Well worth the price and I would definitely purchase it again.

I don’t have enough good things to say about this. I would buy this for my friends, out of pocket, if they were doing an electrical build or just needed to crimp 1 wire. I used 4/0 wire all the way down to 6AWG and everything in between and looked for lug crimpers. They were all too much money for what they did, and often didn’t include all the wire sizes I’d be using. This thing did all of it at a fraction of the price. It’s surprisingly robust, and is still holding up fine after tons of hammer blows. You really only need 5-6 solid hits to crimp even the thickest wire. The way it’s designed helps to hold the lug in place so you don’t need your fingers in the line of fire. I would definitely recommend using the mounting wings to screw it into a small piece of left of plywood to keep it in place, otherwise it likes to jump around. All in all, would definitely it again. But… I probably won’t have to.

Not bad, I own a hydraulic crimper, but purchased this for field service repair(quick fix) it does work, but if I have a lot of them to do… the correct Tool is the way to go

This tool is going to sit most of the time in my shop but it sure is nice to have when I need it. Works great and is easy to use. Creates a strong crimp and seems a good value. When I use it I make sure that it is on either a very solid bench or concrete floor.

Very pleased with this crimper. I removed an old trolling motor from my boat and added another battery to my system to complete/convert my new trolling motor setup to a 24V system. I used this crimper to crimp a total of 12 battery terminal connectors using 4 gauge wire. It did a perfect job on the crimps. I researched a number of crimpers here on Amazon and it seemed like the handheld handle style manual crimpers did the job, but a lot of people complained about having to crimp multiple times at different spots on the terminal connectors in order to ensure a good crimp. Some of them also left flat spots on each side of the terminal connector that made the terminal connector stick out on the sides. To me, the crimps just didn't look as good as what this one does, which is why I chose to go with this hammer style lug crimper. Something that might help someone else....I had to make a number of crimps on my boat deck, which meant when I would hammer down on the crimper tool, it would bounce off the deck. That's no fault of the crimper. It makes life easier when you can use a solid non bouncy surface such as concrete. I wound up grabbing a concrete block I had lying around to lay on my boat deck. That solved that issue. Anyway, I highly recommend this crimper if you've got some heavy duty wire that you need to add battery terminal connectors to in order to complete a project.

This is a must have tool the auto drop is very helpful when preparing to strike. It crimps very well and is made of quality materials, super portable and a great vale for the price. Wish I had this tool sooner

At the time of purchase it was the cheapest option. Absolutely worked a charm!

For me, using this tool in my press works extremely well to crimp lugs of various sizes, lot more control using it this way. Its a great tool and constructed well, I wouldnt want to use the hammer method myself.
