Got this for my Scout Troop.
I'm not a bugle player, though I did learn the French Horn many years ago. It turns out I've forgotten most of what I learned about playing a brass instrument. I could make some noises on it, but had trouble getting more than a handful of pitches out of it, and the high notes weren't happening. Note- I'm fairly certain this has more to do with me than this bugle!I handed it over to my scouts, some of whom are brass players, and they had a much easier time coaxing some musical sounds out of it.The quality seems OK on the instrument. The bag is pretty bare bones (I wish it were a little padded to help protect the instrument as I'm sure it is not going to be used gently). The mouthpiece pocket on the bag is too small. I got a couple extra mouthpieces so we could have several buglers and not have to share mouthpieces. The extra mouthpieces are more substantial than the one that came with this bugle and the pocket is not big enough to hold 3 of them. I'm not going to take a star off for this as this bugle was priced at half the cost of an official Boy Scout bugle. So, 5 stars from me.

Regiment Bugle
Like the above comment, the bugle is a tad light, but not by a bad margin. The laquered brass is much better than I expected (as good as my Bach trumpet, for now, anyway); the tuning slide works fine (about 1/2" out, it's spot on in tune); the mouthpiece is OK and works fine, but the mouthpiece receiver will take a trumpet mouthpiece just fine; all the notes slot in tune relative to each other; an experienced trumpet / cornet player will have no trouble with this bugle, and a beginner should be able to learn on it, as well. The tone is just fine, especially at normal to higher volume. I am, however, going to find a more substantial case for it (the bag really offers very minimal protection), and it will fit just fine in a used cornet case. Well worth my $100.

Good looking instrument
I’m retired military and ordered this bugle to play taps at veterans funerals and special events. The bugle arrived and I did my normal inspection. It looked very good but when I started to play it, I thought air was escaping from the mouth piece but it was coming from the tuning slide. Great looking bugle.

Great Scout Bugle
I bought this for my scout so he could work on his bugling merit badge. The bugle is very nice looking and sounds great. It has been easy for my son to learn to play. It has gotten a bit dinged up and some of the lacquer has started to scratch off, but this is to be expected for a well loved instrument owned by a kid.

Great bugle!!!
My son wanted this for Boyscout’s. He was very excited to get this and plays all the time so he can be the official bugler at his meetings. It’s pretty cute. He is 12 years old.

Very nice!!!!
I purchased this bugle to replace one that had fallen apart after 50 years. Very nice instrument for the price , arrived without any damage and with rapid shipping. Thank you very much! The bugle produces full vibrant rich tones, slide functions smoothly as well. Nice plating and finish.

Toy Bugle
Mouthpiece is garbage. The bugles metal is so thin that it feels like a toy.
