Can i make kombucha using this jar? Never done any fermenting before.

You can certainly use the glass jars, but don't use the lid and airlock bubbler--kombucha needs a fresh air supply to ferment, so just cover jars with cheese cloth or a large coffee filter and use rubberbands or string to hold the cloth/filter on. You need an airlock to prevent fresh air from reaching things that are pickling, like suaerkraut.

what kide of glass? Borosilicat?

Glass artist here…borosilicate is the glass that Pyrex is made from, so it can handle high temperatures. However, like all glass, it is susceptible to thermal shock if heated too fast. Boro and tempered glass are not the same thing. The working/melting temperature of boro is well over 1900 degrees Fahrenheit. It anneals at 1100 degrees F. So the above statement about boro not being able to handle high heat are incorrect. All glass is susceptible to thermal shock if heated or cooled to quickly, and that will cause fractures and breakage. Boro is actually the least susceptible. That said, these jars are most likely soda-lime glass, which is formed and annealed at much lower temperatures, making it much less expensive for mass manufacture of large jars and vessels. Most drinking glasses are made from soda-lime glass.
