Amending once more after receiving replacement. As a note, the issue may not *actually* be the battery (it still could be), but the switch battery indicator incorrectly reading battery life incorrectly, which Nintendo has an article for (solution didn't work for me however). I tested the original NYI battery I received by playing and letting the indicator drop to 1% and seeing how long the battery lasted afterwards, and the battery lasted a total of 3 hours for Mario rpg (not too graphic intense). It's definitely no where near the original battery's life when I first got the switch, but it's better than the Nintendo battery after 8 years/SO many hours of play and changing, lasting an unpredictable 1 hr sometimes, 30 minutes others. I opted not to use the replacement I got because every time you have to change out this stuff/unplug connectors there is more chance of something breaking/bending. I am satisfied with this overall and would buy again. Amending my original review (below) because after charging and playing for about 15 minutes last night, my switch sat in sleep mode. I turned it on at lunchtime today to see if had dropped to 56%, and then when I went to turn it on after work it was completely dead. I charged it again to test it and this time I left it on for 10 minutes. Watched the battery drop rapidly to 56% then a couple minutes later it showed 4%. Ordered a replacement... It will amend my review again if i receive an actual working part. The kit had *almost* everything needed, and the instructions were very easy to follow. As others said and I had read, the adhesive on the original battery was REALLY tough to break. I watched a YouTube video that used isopropyl alcohol and a straw to drip it down the sides of the battery/tilt the switch and get underneath. The plastic tool that came in this kit was a little too thick to get under all sides of the battery, but ended up being able to pry from the bottom of the battery. After getting it out the rest was simple. The battery charged, and so far seems to hold the charge (this is less than 24 hrs after installation) so I will come back and amend my review if I have any issues, but as of now this kit/replacement gets an A+

The NYI Battery Replacement for the Nintendo Switch is a great option if your Switch battery farts out and you need a reliable replacement. The kit includes everything you need to replace the battery: the battery, a screwdriver and matching tips, and a spatula for removing the battery. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow, though I would still look up a video for reference, as there are a few steps that are quite delicate, such as detaching the SD card slot and the battery itself. Additionally, I would definitely advise using the tray everything was sent in to separate your screws as you remove them as they come in different sizes and head shapes. I thankfully did this by group, and didn't have an issue with the screws getting mixed up. As of the battery itself, it seems to be working perfectly. My Switch now stays charged for more than a minute (it was that bad) and I can travel with my console and enjoy using it while on the go again. I can't say much about longevity of the battery as I've only just installed it, but if starts wearing out quickly, I'll update. At ~$17 for the battery, it's a small price to pay to get my console working again and much cheaper than getting an OEM Switch battery. It seems like an excellent value for what I'm getting so far. Overall, it's a great kit and something I would purchase again if my battery decides to stop working again.

2 things, the new battery had the same battery life as my 8 year old original battery, effectively making this replacement pointless and a waste of money. After charging up, I left it on standby overnight and the Switch went from 100% to 20% in the span of 8 hours on standby. The kit itself is also incomplete, if you are replacing the Battery, highly recommend replacing the thermal paste on the heat pipe, the kit makes no mention of this, but I discovered the thermal paste when I opened up the switch to replace the battery. I then ordered new thermal paste and put the switch back together with the new battery. Luckily the thermal paste being old did not effect the cooling but I will still replace the thermal paste as I discovered my switch body had several damaged screw mounts so I also ordered a new switch body, will also try a different battery and see what the results are. The battery is a PITA to remove, but that has nothing to do with the product itself. The tools provided did make the installation easy.

I bought this for my daughter's switch, replacement was not difficult, the tool kit especially the multi bit screw driver was very good and instructions were clear. Battery worked with no issues. If you do not have experience replacing batteries in similar electronics such as smartphones and tablets you should watch YouTube videos, take your time, and be careful. Additional tips: 1. Use a repair mat and secure the screws in groups as disassembly progresses to make repair process smoother. 2. Use tweezers to remove sd card reader vertically to avoid damaging connector. During reassembly, carefully align rubber connector cover in the slot and press carefully on the center to reconnect. 3. Make sure battery is completely drained with no residual charge. This switch had been dead for months so it was ready. Use the plastic spatula to pry out the battery to avoid punctures and leaking chemicals. This greatly minimizes risk of battery fire. Bending the battery during removal is unavoidable although use of rubbing alcohol to loosen adhesive could reduce this. I'm paranoid about battery fires and put the battery outside overnight where it can't do much damage, probably unnecessary, but sleep better not worrying. 4. After replacement battery assembly, place more thermal paste on heat sink which will be surrounded by the original red-orange thermal paste. If existing paste is hardened, remove completely and replace with new paste. Press the metal cover in firmly to seat in the paste. 5. After reassembly and before replacing the back cover, test to ensure battery AND SD card reader are functioning. Reinsert sd card, go into device settings and make sure the card is registering. The connector may not be seated correctly or get damaged during assembly. Have a spare card reader on hand in case needed. I bought the two pack replacemt kit from another seller but didn't need it. Maybe for the next repair if careless or unlucky. Overconfidence can result in mistakes and damaged components. 6. Bright light or headlamp will help reassemble small screws.

For a start, I’d just like to say that the removal of the old battery and installation of this one is a long, involved process with plenty of ways for a beginner to make mistakes that can harm the Switch and render it inoperable. For a while after I installed this battery, I thought that my Switch was broken - you could easily fall to this same fate if you are inexperienced. I will share how I averted my crisis, and some tips that might help everyone else at below. After I installed the battery, I thought that it broke my Switch - I tried every way to power it on that I could think of, all to no avail. It was dead. I was very distraught at this turn of events, to say the least. If you find this happening to you, try this - hold the power button for 20 seconds, release power for 20 seconds, and then press the power button once. When I followed those steps, the issue fixed itself. If this doesn’t work for you, you probably messed up somewhere. Below are some tips for installing this. I have seen many other reviews of this item saying that they experienced this problem, and I believe that this would fix it. I only found this out after several hours of struggle and research, so I hope this benefits someone. Next, some tips for the installation. Firstly, I found the included instructions to be lacking - I recommend using ifixit’s guide for replacing the battery. Second, you have to keep your screws organized and separate. I recommend an ice tray for this, you do not want to keep them in any position where they could mix. Third, the SD card reader - this is the first difficult step of the repair. To properly disconnect the SD card reader without damage, pull straight up on the circuit board gently (NOT the connector) - the connector is fragile. Those who have dealt with this type of connector a lot before will have a feel for it, but you do not yank, you pull. You have to be a bit forceful to get it off, but too much will destroy the connector. For a novice, I would err on the side of caution, and not try to force it. My SD card slot still works, but a lot of people break those because they remove them improperly. Finally, removing the battery. The adhesive is very strong, some of the strongest I have seen. To give context, I’ve removed the glued-in batteries of MacBooks and iPhones, which are notorious for their tough adhesive, and this is by far the worst I have dealt with. It may genuinely be better to spend the extra 70 dollars for Nintendo to do it, rather than turn your repair space into an EPA superfund site with one slip of the opening tool. I do have a few tips for this, however, if you’re willing to take the risk First, get some isopropyl alcohol to soften the adhesive. 90% plus is recommended - 90 or more percent alcohol will not damage any circuit boards or anything else. You should squirt it under the battery extremely liberally. This will turn the adhesive more gummy, which will make a mess, but at least you can get it out. Second, remove the battery through the hole where the cable comes in. Trying to remove it through the top is a fool’s errand. Also, to get it started, a smaller tool than the included scraper is highly recommended. It will be hard, and you will need to use a lot of force. Lithium ion cells are incredibly finnicky, you DO NOT want to burst or severely bend it, unless you want the fire department at your house. This battery is especially tricky because there is no way to do this entirely gently. I would say that it is better to direct your force at a downward angle, not 90 degrees or even 45, but 30 degrees is probably safe. I ended up tearing the bottom paper layer on mine, which is bad, but way better than puncturing it or giving it a severe bend. You need to go slow and be confident, even though it is very scary. I really hope this helps some people to decide whether this is for them. It works great now that I figured it out, holds a charge for a long time. It just took a while to get there.

This item worked great in my G1 switch. Installed it fairly easily in 30 min (popping out the old battery was a little scary, even after heating with hair dryer). New battery works great, and I'm back up to 2.5-3 hours of animal crossing. And my battery doesn't die in a day if it sits idle on standby! Note: switch has to calibrate it's battery life meter over a few charges so ignore the battery % the first time you get it in. It dropped fast for me, but kept running at low percentages. After the first full charge or two, it acts normal. Also note: a few tiny case screws wouldn't screw back into the back plate. I think those screws are self tapping and may strip on the way out. Enough screws went in for me to hold the plate shut, and I taped over the holes to prevent dust getting in. You can also get a replacement back plate. Great value, and it comes with everything you need. I bought thermal paste and didn't need it since I didn't need to remove the heat sink. You probably don't need it either!

So here my review is had this since July 1 and it was a replacement for the 2nd time . I would get maybe 20 to 45 min after a full charge before the switch would let me know it was about to shut down. That was a disappointment. So I would shut it down to charge . I would hit the power button to shut it down and could not turn it back on becaue it was dead . As of August 10th I have a few days in I could paly it longer I decide to push pass the notification on the switch down . I would go pass it by 10 min and it would I was still playing but as soon. As I hit the power button it would act like it was dead . So I post this review I left it on and for it not go in to sleep mode and it stayed running for 2hr! This has now made me happy that I can get this much time to play off the dock it no were near when I bought the switch but that is great for me and does charge up fast . I would buy this again . And buy used switch that had battery issues.

Good quality tools, but my daughter reports that the battery charges slowly and doesn’t have good life

Necesitarás paciencia para ir despegando la bateria y la pala incluida te ayuda bastante, asegúrate de desconectar la bocina que esta junto a la bateria para evitar romper el cable. Una vez que levantas un 10% de la bateria, lo demás es facil. Respecto a su desempeño. esperaba que duraría más; yo la compre para el primer switch que salió (la primer versión de hardware) y mi bateria original ya se me acababa en 2 o 3 horas, esta dura unas 7 horas continuas (a veces más, a veces menos depende el juego o si esta descargando programas) pero en general es aceptable. Si la recomiendo, pero no esperes que realmente la bateria sea de larga duración.
