These augers are rugged and work great in Georgia red clay. I dug a 48” deep 15” diameter hole in a drought using these. GA clay in a drought is like red concrete. It was slow going at first. I rotated in circular fashion as I drilled making multiple holes and broke the dirt free using post hole diggers. I repeated this and finally around 32 inches there was a slight bit of moisture and the process spread up. I also used these to plant 19 trees 3 days after 2 inches of rain eased our drought. These augers worked fast and held up hitting gravel. You need a strong drill.

Excellent for Installing Termite Bait Stations – Even in Tough Soil
I bought this auger bit specifically to drill holes for termite bait stations, and it exceeded my expectations. It cut through hard clay and gravel with very little effort, making the job much faster than using a hand tool. The bit stayed straight, cleared the dirt well, and fit my drill securely with no issues.
