It may KP your M1 Mac on wake-from-sleep.
TL;DR: M1 Mac mini. May KP on wake-from-sleep. Does not happen on Intel-based Macs. Apple-branded dongle works fine on both. Your mileage may vary.--We have oodles of Macs in my house, all the way from PPC to M1 (Apple Silicon). I am currently typing this on my beloved M1 Mac mini. For reference, I have the Apple-branded Multiport USB C to HDMI adapter, a BBY "Insignia" multipart clone (USB C to HDMI + USB 3.0), and the practical Amazon-branded one I am writing this review. When I bought the mini, I used the Apple-branded Multiport USB C to HDMI adapter (also sold on Amazon); it's not cheap but works the very best of any dongle. No problems, two (2) screens, wake from sleep without a hiccup, etc. In short, no issues. The M1 really doesn't like the Amazon-branded model. If you are simply plugging it in for a few minutes, it should work fine; however, if you plan to sleep your Mac or let it sleep on its own, that's where the fun begins. The "wake" function either appears to be non-functional or has issues with wake commands because theOn Windows-based machines, it will come up as a "billboard device" but works OK. On the Intel-based MacBook Pro, it works but takes a bit longer to wake the screen. Sometimes, I have noticed that the display isn't always clear on the Amazon dongle, regardless of which machine I am using.I decided to try the Amazon dongle because I needed my Apple-branded one for another project. Unfortunately, I noticed within a day or two the kernel panics on wake-from-sleep. I disconnected the dongle, no issues for days. I switched back to the Apple-branded dongle, and the machine worked fine.On my Intel MacBook Pro, it works probably 95% the same as the Apple-branded dongle; the exceptions would be "wake" (it takes several seconds vs. almost immediate with Apple dongle) and image clarity. The Amazon dongle wills sometimes go "out of focus" on my Acer screen, very slightly but noticeably. In fairness, I've seen this with the BBY dongle on another monitor but never/not yet with the Apple-branded model. In short, I think you get what you pay for, and it's better to go with the Apple model if you want a trouble-free experience, especially on an M1 model.

It works great.
Used for connecting my cell phone to my large screen television. Able to watch videos and movies. Really like this product. Easy to use-- connect HDMI cable from tv to the device then connect device to cell phone. Use tv remote to select HDMI 1, 2 or 3. Done.

It Works On LG V40
It works great on an LG V40, as the other reviews stated. However, other similar products are much more affordable. I guess I paid a bit more for the greater chance of it functioning with my phone.

Works fantastically
I have 3 Chrome devices - 2 Chromebooks and a Chromebox (a desktop). I bought 2 of these adapters over a year ago. One of them is used daily. The other goes with the Chromebook I take different places with me. I have never had an issue with either of these. And, one of them gets used on many different televisions.I have not had any of the problems some have listed in their lower reviews. The price has gone up a few dollars since I bought both of mine over a year ago. But, I would definitely recommend this model. My son needs one soon, and I told him he should buy the same one. They produce a fantastic image, and I've never had a problem with the tv recognizing the video.

USB C port adds HDMI connectivity
I have a work laptop that has a VGA and HDMI port. I want high dev resolutions, so I avoid using the VGA. The HP laptop from 2017, had two USB C ports. I was able to use this cable which allowed me to add 3 monitors to the laptop (the LCD, the HDMI port, and this USB C to HDMI). It was perfect. I didn't have any issues, picture was great, and no quality issues. Would buy these again.

Great product and worth the savings.
I use these daily on my Mac to connect displays where docks didn't have enough ports to do the job.One thing to know is these are not just regular USB - C , they use DisplayPort Alt mode meaning they won't work on every USB-C connector, the host port has to also support that mode. Having said this they work perfectly on my Ubuntu machine, as well as Windows when using a port that supports the correct output mode. Otherwise you will just see a Cypress Billboard Device in the USB manager and nothing will output from the HDMI.Hope this helps someone.

Windows 10 Lenovo works great
Worked great straight out of the box on a Windows 10 Lenovo machine. Did not need to install any drivers or anything. I had messed around with other adapters that required installing Chinese drivers found on the device itself, or downloaded from a website I couldn't read. They worked on other machines (Win 7) but not the new Lenovo. But this one just worked without installing any drivers.

Works perfectly with my 2018 15" MacBook Pro
Edit: 02/06/22 - I’m taking a star off since I recently found out that this can’t do 4K 60Hz. Tried with multiple cables.——I ordered this for my MacBook Pro because unfortunately it doesn't have a HDMI out and I needed one for presenting the project I have been working on. It works perfectly without any issues. Video quality is good. It feels sturdy and doesn't feel cheap. It worked perfectly on my MacBook Pro running Catalina and works perfectly on Big Sur. I also tried it with my Samsung TV and it worked without any issues.

Clear and good value to boot!
With the advent of USB-C and more devices starting to take advantage of the connector, I grabbed one of these for both work purposes and personal usage. A month and a bit on so far it has yet to let me down and seems to be holding out strong. For £15 it's not the cheapest available on Amazon however it seems sturdy enough and should deal with reasonable wear and tear.I'll update the review later down the line to see if it packs it in. I typically find often dongles of these sorts suddenly stop being responsive for mysterious reasons; but this does seem to be holding out strong.

Work perfectly with 2018 MacBook Pro
Bought these adapters to hook up my MacBook Pro to 2 external monitors. Works perfectly and has them setup and working in less than a minute. The display settings on the Mac allow for really simple placement so that all 3 of my screens now work perfectly together. Display quality is great and the adapters are great for the price.

Another necessity when buying Apple
The world takes a little longer to catch up with Apple. In the meantime this adaptor bridges the gap for a lesser price than an original product.

Excellent for the price
Well made (had cheaper version which fell to bits) and does the job for a lot less than the apple equivalent.
