I purchased the Lucid 3-Inch Bamboo Charcoal Infused Memory Foam Mattress Topper (Twin Size) in October 2025 for an older mattress I began using while staying at my parents’ home as I started a new business. Since this is a temporary living arrangement and the bed is rarely used when I’m not in town, I couldn’t justify purchasing a brand-new mattress. As of June 2026, the topper still looks and performs like new. I’ve rotated it periodically and have not noticed any worn, compressed, or sunken areas. It has effectively transformed an aging mattress into one that feels practically new. I wasn’t sure which thickness to choose, but after researching several options, the 3-inch model seemed to offer the best balance of comfort and support. For me, it turned out to be the right choice. This topper does not heat up, nor does it create the “stuck in place” sensation that some memory foam products can have. Instead, it simply feels like a natural extension of the mattress while still providing the added comfort and support I was looking for. Before spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a new mattress, I would recommend trying this topper first. As a chiropractor, I’ve gone through many mattresses over the years and have received a great deal of feedback from patients regarding various mattress brands and sleep surfaces. Based on my experience, this topper has been an excellent value and has exceeded my expectations.

The topper looks just like the picture shown. Our bed is years old. The mattress is still in decent condition. It's one the flips over and has a pillow top on both sides. We've always been good about flipping and rotating it. But, time wears on. I have neuropathy and I was noticing that my hands and arms were falling asleep or tingling every morning. I have had to wear braces. Plus my lower back would take a while of creaking to warm up and not be sore. I have one hip that had started to hurt. I'm not getting into the husband's side. We are both healthy and keep in pretty good shape so I just knew some of this was the mattress. Was I ready to spend another $1K or more on a mattress....ummmm....nope! I had slept on a friend's bed who had gotten a memory foam mattress and liked it. Then I started researching the toppers. I have been looking into a topper for months. Figured I would give it a shot. Hopefully sleep better and save a little money. Thank you Prime Day! haha After reading about everything I could and then reading reviews, comparing prices etc, I decided on this. Hallelujah!! I picked this one because it had good reviews on temperature. I run hot so I needed something that wouldn't make me sweat. I liked the bamboo and charcoal features. This came perfectly packaged. Easy to open (provided a razor tool for the plastic) and lay out. There was absolutely NO SMELL. I was worried. I put my face right into it. Nothing. I have a small house so there was no way I was able to stick a king sized topper somewhere for 48 hours, so this only sat for about 14 hours. It did start to expand immediately after being laid out. I already had a pillow mattress cover w/ deep pockets and it fits right over it. I have slept on this for 2 nights so I might be pulling the trigger early on a review, but I will definitely update this if necessary. Night one: I could definitely tell a difference. It was very comfortable. I was worried about too soft or too firm, but like goldilocks, it was just right. It is soft enough that you sink into it, but firm enough that you are not in a hole (if that makes sense). I was not hot at all. Summer is definitely a time to test that out. Night two: I think I liked it even better last night. Just a huge difference. Even lying on it to read. I was comfortable with no aches. Huge difference in the morning. I haven't worn my arm braces and my arms and hands have not had any pins and needles or numbness. My hip has not bothered me and my lower back doesn't feel like I have to oil it up before exercising or just breathing. At this point, I would definitely recommend this topper. I know there are so many out there. My suggestion is don't rush it. Read reviews on and off of Amazon. Going through though, add this one to your list of a possibility. I will add too that I was thinking I would need a 4 inch, but I did read somewhere that someone stated that it feels like you sink further down with a 4inch so I got the 3 and it's perfect for my needs. Sorry so long, but I invested a lot of time into this. haha

UPDATE: I had to change from a two star rating to a four star rating because even though the product was too soft for me, I appreciate excellent customer service. I was issued a FULL refund unknowingly!!! They understood my plight and because it's important that the customer is satisfied issued me a full refund no questions asked!! Now that I can work with! One VERY SATISFIED customer here. I feel terrible here but I really really don't like this product. I paid the 145.00 and I feel TERRIBLE! This product was packaged beautifully. It came tightly wrapped and unfurled easily. I didnt mind the slight new foam smell. So after an hour of it being on top my bed, I wrapped it in my new sheets and jumped on top my KING size bed and HATED it! It is way too soft for my liking. Nothing even kinda firm about this 3" charcoal topper. I sank quicker than the Titanic! I tried. I really tried to like this but when you lay on it, you sink ever so softly and it molds and conforms to your body supporting every inch and then you're stuck in it! I have a newborn that sleeps in a bassinet with me and I have to get up constantly to deal with her needs but boy oh boy getting out of that bed was a pain every night! Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. I ripped that sucker off and wouldn't you know it my bed was comfortable once again. (I only bought it because I was trying to make two XL beds a KING. All I needed was the foam filler to put in the middle!) So now I have a huge useless foam topper for nothing and no one in my family wants it. It's taking up an obscene amount of space. And above all I wished that the seller emphasized in SIMPLE language that this topper is extremely soft. Not plush! Not comforting! Just really really soft. If you love soft beds THIS IS YOUR DREAM TOPPER!

This thing is great. Years ago I purchased a queen memory foam mattress from sleep innnovations and i loved it. after that i also bought a twin one for my daughter from them, however she never liked hers as much as i liked mine- well when i recently moved and put my big mattress in storage i started using the small twin and it was not the same, it was super hard and uncomfortable and i would wake up sore every day. I started searching and researching for a twin memory foam mattress that would be as comfortable as the queen mattress i purchased, and even for very expensive products there were bad reviews. In the end I came across this and decided to try it- that way, I could keep the twin even though it was pretty hard to sleep on, and not have to spend as much on buying a whole new mattress that might be just as bad. plus, i could return it if it was not comfortable. Despite some of the negative reviews I saw on this product I decided to try it- it inflated quickly and I slept on it that same night. I did not experience an abundance of bad smells like some have said but i also use an air purifier, and mine completely inflated within a few hours of unwrapping it. It is extremely comfortable, it conforms to your body while you lay on it, and it has made my hard uncomfortable twin mattress a place where i actually look forward to lying down! It's been about 3 months since I ordered it, and occasionally I examine it and run my hand over it to see if it is caving in or depressing like some of the reviews have said- so far i experience NO depression, it still inflates as soon as i get out of bed, and I do not see any wear marks or anything of where i lay, so even if it ends up wearing out eventually for the 60$ i paid it is super comfy, i am glad i bought it, i hope it lasts a long time but even if it does not it was still worth purchasing for sure! i highly recommend it! the only reason some people may not like it is that this type of mattress pad retains body heat, so it can get warm- for me this is fine because i like being wearm when i sleep but some people may not like that type of bedding which is common for memory foam.

Ok, so I purchased this Lucid 3 inch topper in Cal King! Right out of the box there is a slight smell but it's a "new foam" smell nothing out of control. The item was wrapped perfectly with a mesh fabric protector (dispossable) and a nifty letter type opener so you don't have to worry about damaging your item. It was easy peasy! Just open it up, lay on floor, unroll and almost instantly my topper got to it's 3 inches. I popped my ceiling fan on to speed process although I will odbide by the recommended 48 hrs to sleep on. I hope I can make it that long cause I did lay on it briefly on the floor and was in Heaven. I literally closed my eyes for a moment and thought I was on a puffy encompassing white cloud. I swear I could hear angelic voices and see Pegasus flying around me! l'm super hopeful this will help my lower back and hip pain. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and anyone who knows about that, You know about the wide spread pains we get. Those evil little fibro elves that man each joint and take turns stabbing you with little miniature knives. Ugh! I HATE them! Lol I really appreciate the construction of this topper. The fact that it's infused with charcoal is an added antimicrobial and moisture barrier benefit. It seems awesome but only time will tell. I'm in my 30s and about 118lbs but sleep heavy. My hubby is about 175 ish and tosses every 10 min. He has horrible neck pain and lower back pain. (Too many years of playing Hockey) So, we are both looking forward to some much needed sleep therapy.There is a 3 year warranty on it so that makes me happy. I will update after a full weeks sleep. Only CON I can see this far is I wish there was a bamboo zippered cover for it. May need to purchase deep pocket sheets.This is a COMPLETELY unbiased review, purchased by me. Who genuinely is super excited about using this item. Check back for update! May 24 UPDATE: Man oh man! Did this item truly exceed my expectations. This topper has been heaven sent. It has completely overhauled my joints in a way that they actually feel less tender and sore. That lower back pain has decided to pack up an move. My fibromyalgia episodes seem less due to being more well rested. With joint pain and wide spread pain lessened I have been able to slowly start doing yoga again. I just needed my body to repair a bit first and this topper definitely helped. My kids call it the marshmallow bed and fight over who gets to nap in it lol. It does help wick away moisture. Especially when paired with bamboo sheets. I will replace after warranty is up in 3 yrs to make sure I'm receiving the best from this product. I can't rave enough. I will update again in 6m. Please don't hesitate you found the one. I will say if you are over 300lb try going up to a 4-5 inch topper for added support. Blessing for better sleep to all...

UPDATE(4/24) We still LOVE this topper. It has enhanced our C series sleep number 110%. We loved our new sleep number bed but felt like we needed a little something extra under us and this charcoal foam topper did MUCH better than expected. I used to sleep at a 45 or so but with the topper I am able to bump it up for a solid base under the incredible cushion of the topper. It's dense yet allows a feeling of fluff. It doesn't feel like you're laying on mush, it is nicely supportive. And it amazingly does not sleep hot and keeps us in bed with less tossing and turning through the night like we had been doing previously. We have not noticed any sag. When getting out of bed it fluffs right back up everytime! If I could give it more stars, I would!! And I am not one to sugar coat.....I am usually very skeptical on "miracle products". This charcoal topper takes the gold ribbon! We ♡ love love love this foam mattress AND let me tell you my husband sleeps HOT. He is really loving it. Says he sleeps so much better on our new sleep number bed than before. I feel like I'm in a cloud and it's hard to want to get out of bed!!! A lot of reviews talk about the smell when you first open it up. I was VERY concerned with that since I am a cancer beater...I am very conscience of chemicals and smells. This pad had only a light smell and after laying in our extra bedroom a day, it was gone. Never smell anything as we have had it on our bed. We simply adore the great night's sleep we have been getting! So happy we purchased it! And at a pretty good price compared to many of the other pads we had been looking at. We did put a mattress pad over it to be a barrier between us and the pad.

I have mixed feelings about this topper. When I first opened the package, the smell was very strong; it reminded me of paint actually. However, after letting it expand and air out with the windows open for a day or so, it was fine. The smell is still there but only noticeable if you put your nose right up to it. So, if you are expecting to sleep on it the first day you get it, I wouldn't recommend this one. But if you have the time to air it out, don't let the smell stop you from getting this one. As far as comfort goes, it's decent. The first night I tried it out was on my medium density mattress, which I already love (I bought this for my dorm bed). It was way too squishy to put on top of a bed that is already pretty soft. I could barely roll over in it. However, now that I have slept on it for a few days on my dorm bed, I think it's pretty good. The mattress underneath is very firm, to the point where I'd have bruises if I slept with no topper at all. This mattress pad does the trick for me; it's not so squishy that I can't roll over, but it creates a comfortable sleeping environment. However, my major complaint is with the durability. I have a huge tear in it after moving it to my dorm room. Just folding it up, very gently as I know how delicate these are, caused it to rip in multiple places. It doesn't affect the comfort obviously, but this thing won't hold up for long. I hope that it will get me through the school year, but beyond that, I doubt it would last. I think the ventilation holes make it more susceptible to ripping. All in all, it is a decent topper. If you're a college student looking to make your mattress tolerable for an affordable price, I would say go for this one but be careful while transporting it if you want it to hold up. If you are looking for a great mattress pad for your existing mattress at home that you want to last for a couple of years, I'd say go for something of higher quality and price (although ideally I would hope $55 should get you something that should hold up a couple years but I digress.) Overall, I give it a "so so."

I just recently bought a new mattress from Ikea (the Haugesund model), got it home and found that it was way too firm for my taste. My shoulder and hip started hurting after having only slept on it for a couple of nights. I tested the floor models at the store and it didn't occur to me at the time that the floor model mattresses would be pretty worn-in from people testing them out all day every day, so I got the "firm" instead of the "medium-firm"... my mistake. Well. This little baby from Lucid has changed my ultra-firm mattress into a dream marshmallow. I got a mattress protector from Ikea that has elastic straps and when combined with the mattress topper it holds everything in place so there's no slippage. It has increased the temp of my bed a tiny bit but definitely not enough to bother me. The quality is good - I will update this review in a few months when I've had it long enough to see if it stands the test of time. Right now though, it's springy and expands back to it's original shape immediately after I move. It barely smelled like anything other than a faint "new synthetic product smell" that dissipated very quickly. when I took it out of the bag. Now, if you have a firm or new spring mattress without a pillow top, this is for you. The 3" thick version paired with a firm spring mattress is just divine. I have literally been so comfortable sitting on it while watching TV that I realized I couldn't feel my legs (in a good way). This is coming from someone who has extremely bad sciatica and has even had spinal surgery to remove a ruptured disk 4 years ago - so that's saying something. When I wake up in the morning now, it's very difficult not to fall back asleep because my body is so comfortable and relaxed. I used to wake up in pain or at the very least, uncomfortable, but this really seems to be helping my back, hip, and shoulders relax and stay in alignment overnight. I hope this thing lasts a long time. I paid full price for this thing and bought it based on consumer research and reviews alone, so there you go.

I received this yesterday, and I spread it on floor as per instruction that it need to kept open for 48hrs before using. When I opened I saw all these torn areas. I am disappointed really. Outside package and inside wrap was good not sure how it damaged inside. Appreciate if seller can look into this issue.

I love my extra firm mattress but lately I’ve started getting joint pain. Bought this memory foam topper and my joint pain is gone! Just had to trim the end of the mattress as it’s California King (my mattress is European King size which is 10cm shorter). Highly recommend this mattress topper!

Extremadamente cómoda. Quería esperar unas semanas para evaluarla luego de su uso y la verdad cumple su función al 100%. Estamos en un Airbnb que tiene un colchón horrible, duro, nada cómodo, decidimos comprar esta colchoneta de memory foam para ver si se parece en algo a nuestros colchones en casa y la verdad si es memory foam, es muy comoda, la verdad si se unde bastante como dicen, pero es lo que ayuda a no tener puntos de presión mientras duermes. 100% recomendada

Quisimos esperar antes de escribir una reseña para probar bien el producto, ya llevamos casi un mes y ha sido increíble, muy cómodo, no se deforma, es fresco, se amolda muy bien a tu cuerpo, han reducido nuestros problemas de espalda y estamos muy felices con esta compra, muy recomendado.
