definitely worth it if in your budget
i already had the app to connect the headphones to my phone but the set ups really straight forward, as for the actual headphone it comes with a leaflet of what the sensory pads do and the 2 buttons on the side (you get a tutorial on the app aswell) i got this on black friday sale for my birthday for £150 but either way you are definitely getting your moneys worth battery life is insane - i used them for about 5 hours at work and they only went down 10% they also recharge quickly and only take about 10 minutes to fully charge if im remembering right the only minor issue i've had is to use the volume touch sensor on the right headphone you kind of have to spam swiping since it goes up/down little by little, it isnt a huge problem though since it doesnt take much effort to pull your phone out it recognises when you're talking so it automatically mutes while someones speaking to you and plays again when you're done same goes for when you move the headphones off your head it automatically mutes and plays again when you're put them back on, it also has an option to track your daily commute to work etc which i believe is to play recommended songs you've listed to in the past but that may be slightly off? really comfortable, i've used these basically every day for 4+ hours and havent gotten a headphone dent or any pain the touch sensor on the right side to play or pause a song is really sensitive, if its windy and my hair touches the sensor it thinks im pausing it but again not a huge problem since i can just tuck my hair sound quality is really clear, there is some minor bleed out on high volume but you'll get that with any headphones and its only hearable if its quiet pads on the ears are really comfortable and breathable - feel good quality over all the actual colour of the headphones is as advertised and hasnt chipped off theres a lot of other features to these headphones but overall really good value for money and definitely worth it if you're thinking about upgrading since the issues i've found so far are fixable and nothing to write home about hopefully i covered as much as i can & hope you found this helpful

A blissful sound...
These Sony XM5s are constructed beautifully. I am not an audiophile, but I appreciate good sounds, and these deliver strongly. The basses in mid-range are deep and clear, and the treble gives a defined sound that is usually hard to pinpoint in other brands. Battery life is very good, quoted approximately 30 hours. Charge times are also very quick, with a quick charge function where you get around 10 hours for a 15-20 minute charge. The noise cancelling is active, and I took these on board a plane, full of people, long haul, and it cut out at least 70% of the noise. Granted, it doesn't cut out everything, but the drone from the engines and people talking were more or less subdued to a point where it was comfortable enabling peaceful rest and sleep. It's constructed well. The ear muffs give enough space so your ears are breathable, and the headband is comfortable enough so that you can wear it for long sessions without major discomfort. My head is average size, and I can wear these for hours each stretch without issues. The headphones come with a well made carrying case, great for travelling, and it's not too heavy. Pairing is very straightforward. You press the power button, and you keep the button depressed for approximately 5 seconds to be in Bluetooth mode. It connected to my Android phone very easily, and without any hiccups. You download the Sony app, and from there you can tweak the equaliser settings. I usually increase the bass to around plus 5, and I go max on the treble. With that set, the sound is amazing. The clarity is crisp, and the music sounds amazing. All in all, these headphones are superb value compared to others in the market just now. The active noise cancelling is perhaps the best offered by Sony. Do I recommend these headphones? 100% yes. Although I would advise waiting for special deals as these often come down in price, for example during Black Friday. Highly recommended.

My favourite pair of headphones
I’ve had these for a little over a month and they’re one of my favourite things I own. I upgraded from the Sony WH-CH720Ns and every time I put on a song on the xm5s, it genuinely feels like my ears are crying tears of joy. I’ve heard many horror stories about broken hinges so I’m trying my best to not stress them out. I recommend getting the Sound Connect app and playing around with the equaliser until you get a sound that suits your ears. I only lasted around 3 days of listening with clear bass on +10 before it gave me a headache so I’ll be sticking to +7.I chose black, since it goes with everything is does an amazing job of hiding any stains that may show up from daily use. So far, I’ve accidentally dropped them once on hard pavement because I wasn’t holding them tightly enough. The power button was scratched but at least now I’ll be able to tell the difference between the power and ANC toggle button. A win’s a win. I love the ANC and how it phases out the noise from bus engines/background chatter. Transparency is also great for when you want to stay alert. Overall, great pair of headphones for anyone who values sound quality and ANC. I was stuck between these and the ULT Wear but I ended up choosing the xm5s because of the design and amazing sound quality after trying them out in person at a store.

Good! but NEEDS an EQ
The sound is HORRIBLE out of the box (if you like it I'm worried for you) The sound connect app will thankfully save the EQ to the headphones so it'll sound that way on any device. Battery life is okay, though despite the setting being turned on, they don't turn off automatically to save power, at least when plugged in via the headphone cable. Speaking of being plugged in via the headphone cable, you can use noise cancelling and ambience mode while listening via the cable, but if you turn the headphones off to save battery, there is a very noticeable quality drop, meaning to get the most out of these you must have them turned on at all times. The sound quality is amazing though, I genuinely didn't know Bluetooth could sound good, let alone great. I don't leave my phone when my headphones are on so I'm not sure what the connectivity is like, but if you need them to go further from your device or you want to save the battery then you can change the blutooth connection type from at least 3 different setting (on android at least and not all of the settings are in the app) I bought these for mainly indoor use but the noise cancelling and ambient modes seem great and I haven't tried any other headphones that are as good as these. I'd recommend against getting black headphones as they show tons of smudges and marks, the blue ones seem to fair a bit better but the lighter colours are best at hiding them PS, handle these with care, a lot of people have had issues with the hinges

Fantastic Headphones - Love them
I'm absolutely thrilled with these, having used them for a while now for everything from daily commutes to long work sessions and unwinding, I can confidently say they live up to the hype and more. These are, without a doubt, the best noise-cancelling headphones I've ever owned. Unmatched Noise Cancellation: The moment you put them on, the world just melts away. These headphones create an astonishingly quiet sanctuary - allowing escape from all of the noises. It's not just a reduction in noise; it's a profound sense of calm that allows me to truly focus on my music, podcasts, or just enjoy blissful silence. It's genuinely magical. Superb Audio Quality: But silence is only half the story. The audio quality is equally impressive. Sony has delivered a wonderfully balanced and rich sound signature. Bass is deep and impactful without being boomy, mids are clear and present, and highs are crisp without being harsh. No matter what genre I throw at them, from podcasts to classical to heavy rock, everything sounds incredibly detailed and immersive. The ability to tweak the EQ in the excellent Sony Headphones Connect app is a bonus, though honestly, they sound fantastic straight out of the box. Supreme Comfort & Premium Design: Comfort is paramount for headphones you'll wear for hours, and the XM5s excel here. They are noticeably lighter than previous models, and the redesigned, softer earcups gently hug your ears without any uncomfortable pressure. I've worn them for entire workdays and long flights without a hint of fatigue. The sleek, minimalist design also feels incredibly premium and looks fantastic – a real step up in aesthetic from previous generations. Intelligent Features & Phenomenal Battery Life: The intelligent features elevate the experience further. The Sony Headphones Connect app is intuitive, allowing you to fine-tune EQ, control Ambient Sound, and enable useful features like 'Speak-to-Chat' (which automatically pauses music when you start talking – a game-changer!). Multi-point connection is seamless, letting me switch between my phone and laptop effortlessly. And the battery life? Phenomenal. I get days of heavy use on a single charge, and a quick 3-minute charge provides hours of listening. Overall: In conclusion, the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones are an investment I wholeheartedly recommend. They deliver on every promise: unparalleled noise cancellation, exquisite sound, supreme comfort, and smart, user-friendly features. If you're seeking a premium audio experience that truly elevates your daily life, look no further. Five stars, without a doubt!

Great Noise Canceling but Keeps Disconnecting From My Phone
I really wanted to love the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones. I saw so many reviews about them and watched a lot of youtube videos saying they are the best headphones and the noise canceling is amazing so I decided to buy them. At first they honestly felt amazing. The sound quality is really really good, super clear and the bass is nice too. The noise canceling is also crazy good. When you put them on you almost cant hear anything around you which I loved. They also feel very comfortable and premium so at the beginning I was really happy with the purchase. But there is one problem that keeps happening and its honestly really frustrating. The headphones keep disconnecting from my phone while I am playing games. It just randomly disconnects in the middle of playing and the sound cuts out. Then I have to stop what im doing, go into the phone settings, open bluetooth and reconnect them again. This happens a lot and it completely ruins the experience when you are in the middle of a game. The weird thing is this is the only bluetooth device connected to my phone. I dont have other headphones or speakers connected. Its literally just these headphones. I tried to fix it for hours. I watched many youtube videos about people having similar problems and tried every fix they suggested. I reset the headphones, removed them from bluetooth and paired again, changed settings and tried different things people said might work. Nothing fixed it. Its just really dissapointing because these headphones are not cheap and I expected them to work properly. The sound and noise canceling are amazing but the constant disconnecting makes it really hard to enjoy using them. I was really excited when I bought them and I wanted them to be my favorite headphones but now its just frustrating. Ps. Im using iphone 17 pro max with newest ios other headphones work just fine

Absolute must have but build quality is a bit questionable
The Sony WH-1000XM5 are the latest wireless headphones since the debut of the MDR100X in 2017. The flagship product of the Japanese corporation has changed over the years and each generation has been recommended by satisfied users. The fifth generation continues this trend, offering great noise reduction and high sound quality enclosed in a comfortable design. The design is the first of the noticeable changes, which also changed the case. The rest of the fixes make the latest model perform better than its predecessor. Cost? Higher compared to the XM4, so keep that in mind. The WH-1000XM5s are different from the previous model in the series and may look down-to-earth at first. Over time, I began to appreciate their minimalist design. They may not stand out from the crowd, but in my opinion they look very good. Adjusting the size is trivial and everything happens quickly. The whole is perfectly combined with each other and looks like a one-piece construction. Controlling the headphones is limited to a minimum, on the left side there is a power/pairing button, ANC/contact mode button and a standard headphone jack. The outer surface of the right earcup allows you to use gestures. Their operation is a mish-mash, once they come in from the arrow, and sometimes you have to repeat them, especially double-click to start or pause playback. The minimalist design is designed to improve the ANC, hence the dramatic change in appearance. The ear cups don't look impressive, but when you put the headphones on, they fit great and have good passive noise reduction. Sony headphones are not the lightest (they weigh 250g), but they are so comfortable that you can listen to music for hours. The biggest problem caused by the new appearance is the thought in the back of my mind that the adjustment system will break. It often crossed my mind, even when removing the headphones from the case. Sony packed all the features known from the previous generation, so when you change to a newer model you will feel at home. Speak to Chat pauses when it detects user speech. Thanks to this, you can carry on a conversation, and then return to listening to your favorite piece. There was also a sensor responsible for detecting the headphones, it was placed inside the left earcup. It works very well and pauses the music as soon as you remove the headphones, and resumes it shortly after putting them on. Spotify Tap can be useful if you use this app to listen to music. When you double or triple tap on the right earcup, the app will launch and start playing. Sony's active noise cancellation is one of the best. This time there was a slight change, because ANC works automatically based on the location of the headphone user. Most outside sounds are muffled, but you can still hear cars driving past the pavement, people, unless you're listening to music at the moment. Contact mode is also top shelf, has a 20-point scale and can be changed manually. The maximum level makes you hear everything as if you didn't have headphones. The sound coming from the outside is natural and does not undergo digital corrections. Fans from all over the world turn their noses up at the implementation of active noise cancellation, because it is automatic and you cannot set it yourself. It works based on the user's location and activity. You can even add additional places where noise reduction will be activated. The WH-1000XM5 never once had a problem recognizing my location and activity. If I went for a walk, it was visible in the dedicated application. ANC is the highest shelf, so in the case of listening it should be similar, and it is. All thanks to the new 30 mm drivers capable of creating a wider soundstage and extracting more details from each piece. The music genre doesn't matter much, because pieces with strong bass "play" great. The low tones are emphasized and each of the instruments used is easy to recognize. The vocals have also improved, they are cleaner and you can hear them well, even when the background music is louder than them. The default EQ settings are enough for most, but you can change them at any time after installing the dedicated application. The Sony WH-1000XM5 aren't reinventing the wheel, but they're great headphones. Improved a lot compared to the previous version, these fit great, they fit well in the ears, the ANC and sound quality have also been improved. The changes are not dramatic, but you can see that the bar is set high. I really like the new design and I don't feel like it lags behind because it doesn't fold like the XM4. I didn't have the previous model and I don't see a problem with it, although there will be complainers. The price is not the lowest, but you have to pay the same or more for competing models.

Excellent sound, noise-cancelling and comfort
I read and watched a lot of reviews about ANC headphones and the Sony XM5s kept coming up as one of the top picks. Even though I was tempted by cheaper, but still highly rated headphones this seemed to be the best. Now that I have used it for a couple of weeks I can say I am really happy with my choice. COMFORT ***** This is one I can wear all day - the soft headphone cups are very comfortable and I do not feel the strap at all and I have very short hair. The headset is adjustable and it even comes with a tutorial in the app that shows you how to set it. If you don't follow this I can see how some people could squeeze it on and feel it's too tight or sore on the headband but just following in the instructions there is nearly no weight on the headphone strap and it is padded well enough. SOUND ***** The sound quality is excellent. Out of the box it sounds good but with the app provided fine tuning the EQ it is exceptional. For music you really can hear the detail in songs. The base is super clean with no distortion and plenty of depth and mids are clear and full, not the hollow scooped out sound you get from some other headphones. The highs are crystal clear without being tinny. Movies are great to listen to. Even without APTX low latency it has no problems with delays or lip sync on anything I have tested on Phone (Android) or desktop (Windows). Movies with great sound design like A quiet place 2 are incredible. Note I am using the Alternative A2DP Driver from bluetooth goodies on Windows so that I can use LDAC codec for higher bandwidth and quality and Tidal for high quality music but it works very well with spotify and standard windows bluetooth connection. Gaming - if you really look for it you can notice a slight delay but nothing that affects gameplay for me. Explosions, atmospheric music, dialogue all sound fantastic from Single player story driven games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake to competitive multiplayer like Naraka Bladepoint or Apex legends. Connectivity **** With support for Bluetooth 5 and LDAC connection should be solid. Never had cutouts or distortion when within the advertised range even through walls. It support multi device which allows you to connect to your tablet or PC while still controlling EQ, ANC and switch between devices from your phone which works well. Sadly if you use multidevice it prevents using LDAC so I leave this feature turned off as it is still really quick and easy to switch between devices - as soon as you hit connect on a paired device it takes over the connection, you get the ding and it's ready to go. It also remembers which of the devices it was last connected to when you turn it on. ANC ***** The Active Noise cancelling is S tier - it really does work well. Cancelling out much more background noise than expected making it a dream to use in a noisy office or café. The way they have implemented pass through is really good so you can just hold you hand to the right ear to lower the volume of your music and have the 8 mics pass the outside sound to you and amplify it so you can quickly talk to someone. I don't use the automatic pass through when you start talking feature but I could see it being useful for some people. It also has good noise cancelling for the mic so making a voice/video call in a noisy area still sounds great for both you and the person you are calling. Negatives Of course there are some negatives but thankfully they are relatively minor. Firstly, they do not fold down as compact as other headphones. You're not going to fit this into your pocket or even want to throw it into a bag but it does come with a nice case and so constatly wearing it or take a big enough bag for it in the case. The other is that although the soft touch material on the cups feels way better than plastic or metal and transfers a lot less sound if something rubs against it like a hood or your hand it does leave unsightly greasy marks. I am experimenting with skins for it from xtreme skins as you can see in one of the photos which solves the problem but I didn't find the skins a good fit for the curved sides but your mileage may vary. I probably will put up with the greasy look to avoid the extra weight and faff of the stickers. The battery life would fall into this category as while very good it is not as long as some cheaper models offer. I can still run it all day with no issues of comfort or battery but I do find I am topping it up every other day instead of once a week as I have done with previous headsets. It's understandable with the relatively light weight and constantly on HQ ANC or pass through (I never use ANC off completely). Not really a negative as I didn't expect this from it but this is not a headset to wear while working out, jogging or in the rain. It has no water resistance. For those purposes I prefer to use earbuds anyway and find the Pixel Buds do the job just fine but of course the sound quality and lack of ANC mean it does not compare when you have the option of the Sony XM5s. Overall an excellent headset if you can appreciate great sound quality even if not an audiophile, with top notch noise cancelling and comfort.

Sony WH-1000XM5: Noise-Canceling Bliss (Almost)
These headphones are seriously amazing when it comes to blocking out the world. I can barely hear a thing when I have them on, which is perfect for my commute or when I need to focus at work. The sound quality is top-notch too – music sounds rich and balanced, with just the right amount of bass. I also love how clear phone calls are. People on the other end say I sound great. My only gripe? They don't quite stay put when I'm working out. If Sony could improve the grip a bit, these would be the absolute perfect headphones. Overall: 4.8 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended (unless you're a marathon runner)!

Also: mit Bedacht einsetzen. 2.

Queste invece no, ma a me non dispiace affatto.
