Little Giant CV-10 Check Valve for the following Little Giant Series Condensate Pumps - VCC, VCMA, VCL-14 and VCL-24, 1/4-inch MNPT x 3/8-inch Barbed, Black, 599065

A little pricy for what it is, but it gets the job done. The check ball in my old valve had swollen with age and the pump had to work long and hard to push the condensate past the swollen ball. I thought about saving a few dollars by just removing the ball from the old valve and then installing an inline check valve in the discharge tube but, as they say, "time is money" and additionally, an inline check valve would also mean 2 more connections (potential leaks) in the discharge tube. This was definitely the better way to go.

Works fine and delivered on time

The check valve broke off on our AC condensate pump, causing the condensate water to be pumped into the garage and not outside to the drain. This was a perfect fit for the pump branded "Little Giant"Note as mentioned elsewhere, you get the black piece. not the clear right angle part. This _IS_ a check valve, there is a small plastic ball that is inside the part that is pushed down by the weight of water on the tubing side of the valve, so it seals closed when the pump is off. I noticed this on the old broken part since that ball fell out.The thread / tubing sizes mentioned on the label are 1/4" MNPT (standard pipe taper) for the lower threaded part (in this image it's threaded into the clear plastic part), and 3/8" ID (Inner Diameter) tubing for the other end.What we did while waiting for this part (which only took 2 days to arrive) is to use a non-check valve 1/4" MNPT to 3/8" ID tubing adapter from our local HW store and run a temporary length of tubing out the garage onto the driveway such that the tube never got higher than the pump (so the check valve would not be needed to prevent backflow), so we could use the AC.

I only gave it four stars because everybody automatically assumes fives stars are fake? Anyway, I have zero complaints with this little guy. It keeps the water inside of it on both sides, and it keeps water from going backwards. I no longer have to go out and empty my dehumidifier twice a day, and that alone makes this thing worth the money.

Little Giant condensate pumps last forever and this check valve is much cheaper than getting a new condensate pump. Do an Internet search for "Diagnose and Fix your Condensate Pump" for an excellent YouTube tutorial on the diagnose and repair process. When diagnosing, make sure that the pump does not squirt you in the face. This is also a good time to clean all the crud out of the pump which will take a whole lot longer to do than the few minutes needed to replace the valve.

Without a check valve, drain water can sometimes run backward in the line or hose (from where it came) and in so doing, create overflows and floods of dirty, bacterial-laden water into the floor. Condensate and sump pumps are often simple devices with sumps or holding tanks that are gravity-fed and are not sealed...basically a pool of water in an container with open entry points for inbound drains lines. Back flows are essentially refilling the container that was just pumped out. 'Inefficient and can cause the container to overflow on to the floor.Since water leaks and seepage NEVER get better and over time, before you know it there can be lots of damage. Leaks are typically silent and unless you inspect drain lines routinely, they can sneak up on you...then it's an oh sh-t moment.We installed this check valve on to the Little Giant Condensate Pump and back flows and overflows are a thing of the past. Don't be cheap and try to do without this simple valve. Peace of mind and your floor are worth way more than the small cost of this valve.Over time, this valve will require gentle cleaning but having a spare on-hand is simpler and more reliable than trying to clean it as it is small and has NO removable parts. A little vinegar added to the sump/container will help to keep the sump container and the valve clean and trouble free. Put yourself a monthly or quarterly reminder on your calendar to save yourself some headaches by adding some vinegar on a routine schedule. That's better than discovering a water problem as you head out the door on vacation!

This was a perfect replacement for the check valve that went bad. Two minutes to take out the old, install the new and the pump is working like a dream again!
