Did not fix the defrost problem. Wire is not even made of copper. Bought and installed original G.E. brand part and now my freezer works great.

After 2 weeks of operation this thermostat is working well. So far having no issues.

Defective right out of the package!
The item looked good, sealed in a package, but to be on the safe side (having heard of these being defective from others) I decided to test it with a multimeter to check for continuity/no continuity to see if it would cycle when frozen and then thawed as it is supposed to. Good thing I did because when removed from the freezer and left to warm up it was stuck in the closed contacts position. Even further heating with a hair dryer did not cause it to return to its normally open when warm position. It should only cycle to closed when about 30 deg F. Thus it was a dudd but at least I did not go through the whole take out the old, put in the new, find that it doesn't work frustration. Really disappointed as I waited about 2 weeks for this thing!
