Vornado Duo Small Room Tower Air Circulator Fan, Black, 14 In.

Update: its been a couple years now and still love this fan. It's attractive, quiet at lower speeds. If you are on phone often but still want effective and quiet, this is it. It also fits well under most monitors if placed horizontal. It has proved to be long lasting and reliable. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Original review: Bought this fan after watching some reviews. I use this fan at work and very impressed with it. Some Plus’s: 4 fan speeds, the lowest speed is very quiet, merely a hum, easy to forget the fan is on except you can feel the cold air, It is perfect if you are on the phone often and want the fan closeby. I have owned a few desk fans before and this is the best one so far. Constantly amazed at the super cold air it puts out Even on the lowest speed. I know this sounds crazy but it is almost as if it’s a mini ac. I know there are a few cheaper options for 19.99 or 29.99 but this one is definitely worth the price. I’ve bought desk fans from other manufacturers in the past and they are okay at first but they started squeaking or making noise from vibrations. I will update this review after a few months of use. I would definitely recommend this Vornado desk fan as of right now.

Works standing or flat. Simple one button control. No remote to lose. No oscillating to fail. I had both of these problems on the regular tower fan so now it work just like this Vornado unit ( On/off and level change only) Air is very focused and not lossy across distance . It's direct line powered so does not go through a power brick or require another power source like a USB one. A bit more power hungry than the Sharper Image USB powered fan which only uses 1.5W to 2.5 W to run. This one uses 21W at the lowest setting, then 30, 38, and 52W on the highest setting. It move tons of air so no complaints there. It's about 55 dB noise level at full blast down to 40 dB at lowest setting. Not entirely noise free but not unpleasant at low settings. Love squirrel cage fans for how well they work at moving directed air. This is a great example of one to own.

Now I’m mindful that people have reported some serious problems with this fan. So I’m holding my breath. But really, I have liked the first one so well I have just ordered a second. Maybe it will turn out to be a bad decision. But right now I am hopeful. At high speed it lifts my window curtains from 10 feet away — and they are substantial, blackout curtains. And it does make at noise at high speed but it’s not like being next to a vacuum cleaner or an aging bathroom exhaust fan. It’s barely noticeable and is inoffensive. It does not get in the way of conversations or, for me at least, sleep. I have it in the upright position and it is quite stable. But I have no problem believing those who report otherwise. There is little concern for quality control in factories these days. I bet a lot of lemons make it into boxes. I also wonder if some of the “unstable” units suffer from vibration which might be tamped down with the application of self adhesive felt , protectors. Probably worth a try. I particularly appreciate that this fan is effective when the windows are open as well as when the air conditioning is on. We have non-zoned central air conditioning and using this fan in our tv room allows us to keep our a/c warmer and still be cool in the room we’re sitting in. And of course when it’s a windows open day this fan creates a cooling breeze. The size of this fan makes it an unobtrusive presence in the room. It doesn’t take up much space and because it can be used either in the vertical or horizontal position it is easy to find a space for it.. I’m looking forward to putting one in those kitchen to assist in those summer days when I simply can’t get out of turning in the oven!

* UPDATE * So about after a year, it started grinding/squealing and then just stopped working. I opted to take it a part to try to clean it out and see if it would help, knowing it'd void my warranty. It ended up working for a little while, then started again. I opted to email them, clearly indicating what I had done and that I knew I voided my warranty and that I wasn't asking for them to honor it. I was just looking for some advice on something I might be able to do, to get it working longer than I had succeeded to do. I promptly got a response back from them, giving me instructions on what to do and they would send me out another unit. NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING! I thought for sure I was going to get a response back staying I voided my warranty and they would not honor it and blah blah blah. At the very most I was hoping to get a response back stating maybe spraying it with WD-40 or something would fix it. I was in no way expecting them to volunteer to still honor the warranty, after I blatantly admitted I voided it and was not looking for them to. That to me shows GREAT custom service and is a company I'll continue to do business with! Also should note, this new one isn't as loud as my original one was neither. So I believe it may have been a dud from the get go. I mean, don't get me wrong. It is still a noisy little machine, but not as noisy as my original one was. * ORIGINAL REVIEW - 3 STARS * Right now I'm on the fence for this. Not sure if I just got a bad one or something, but it's really not what I expected. I bought a larger, 184 model which encouraged me to get this. This thing on it's top 2 settings is louder than the 184 on it's highest setting, which is 4-5x larger than this. While speaking about it's size, it's a little larger than I thought it'd be (and yes, that's even with viewing pictures and reviews), which in some ways is a good thing and in others, not so much. Does seem to put out quite a bit of air, almost comparable to the much larger 184, at least IMO. Just definitely louder than I had thought and hoped it'd be. Also kinda wish it had a remote. Sure I'll be updating this in the future..

I bought a "Vornado 573 Compact Flat Panel Air Circulator Fan, 3 Speeds, Moves Air 60 Feet" and love it. It has great power. > Initial disappointment with this was my fault. I thought it oscilated, but it doesnt. I think their marketing department is why I dont like marketing. They arent client facing so they feel like they can say whatever they want. This doesnt oscilate it is multi-directional.... which means you can stand it up or lay it down or reposition it manually as you choose. OK.. I can get over that. No biggie. >Says it's quit and pushes air up to 50ft. My other says 60 feet and that throws a lot of air. This one with max fan @20' I could feel it, but barely. Its not on the same level as the other. I have this positioned on the window ledge just beyond my laptop. I'm 2' away. On level 1 it is quite and I can feel a gentle breeze. level 2 - Throws noticably better air and is noticably nosier. level 3 - Throws more air than level 2, but noise level is relatively higher than the level of increased airflow. Level 4 is noisy. >Directionally, the graphics for this fan show equal air coming out across the length of the blades. That isnt my experience. The bottom 2" most of the air flow seems to come from the middle of the blade area and seems exactly like my old tower fan. I got my old tower fan 3 years ago at Costco in a 2-pack for either $19 or $29 for a 2 pack. I paid $40 for this ONLY because it is a Vornado and i'm extremely happy with my other Vornado. Would I buy it again knowing what I know. Nope. Will I return it - Probably not. it has been blazing hot this past week and the pain in the ass of looking for another fan isnt worth it. I liked the old fan better. It was also a similar sized tower fan. It was 3 speeds with a timer and ocilation. I think it moved as much air. This feels expensive for what it is. The old one lasted 3 years. I hope this one lasts.

I love Vornado fans and have several of them. They're the only fans that truly cool down a west facing condo and circulate the air. Although this one isn't a full room fan, I'm impressed by how much cool air it puts out to an area of the room. I have it about 12 feet from my desk and does the trick. I enjoy the spacesaving footprint. Bought on sale knowing it won't cool an entire room, but enjoying that my desk area - while working remotely - feels comfortable with this on. It doesn't need to sit on the desk and blow things around to get a concentrated stream of cool to cold air. Would also work well on a nightstand for sleep, but a bit noisy on high for that. I enjoy the white noise though.

Size is great but the build quality and motor are BAD. Moves air in a focused way that's actually perfect for a little desk fan, problem is on settings 2-4 there's a loud motor hum. It sounds almost exactly like really bad coil whine. Anyone that has had a computer with a low grade power supply or any modern large video card would know and hate this sound. If you have any sort of sound sensitivity or just hate coil whine stay far away. And! the plastic is bad, with poor tolerances that gives it a little wobble sound at setting 1. speed 2 is about the only setting that sounded ok/meh, but at that speed it doesn't move enough air for me. Sound Details: On speed 4(max) its at 175hz F3 note at a very annoying level 62db using a phone app, so grain of salt, but can say its far too loud to be on my desk or even across the room, and speed 3 its about 136 C#3, app was saying around 55db for that, Still not at all tolerable for me but I could see some people being ok with it. For reference the top E on a guitar is 82hz or E2 and the bottom E string(the higher sounding one) is at 330hz, E4 and still too loud for me with the fan about15 feet away across the room. The noise appears to be coming from the motor and sounds like bad electrical hum. Its not a pleasant white noise sound at all you expect from a fan, just grating.

It's really good at cooling down a room. The air flow is consistent unlike regular fans. Would buy again.

Me ha gustado esta mini torre por la potencia que alcanza en la 4ta velocidad. Al ser pequeño encaja bien casi en cualquier espacio y mueve bastante aire como para refrescar una habitación de 4X4m en menos de 5 minutos. Pros: * Diseño elegante y funcional * Potencia y gran volumen de ventilación * Versatilidad de posiciones Contras: * Hace mucho ruido en la máxima potencia * Tiene un fusible en la clavija, lo cual augura posible falla a futuro * El pulsador podría tener mejor calidad, a veces hay que pulsar varias veces antes de activarse
