I lost the power cord to charge my bell& howell light model # 1436fegls.can i have it replaced ? willing to pay a reasonable fee.

I purchased and tried 2 new power adapters and still it will not fully charge. It shows on red, charging for days and will never get green (full).

Can i leave it plugged in and use it only for sos mode forever?

I bought a pair of these about 3 years ago. They got lost in the shuffle in my house for all that time and I just found one. I was in a pitch black room and needed some light and I didn't think this thing would still light up, but what the heck, I went ahead and switched it to "on." To my amazement, it lit up and I could find my way around the room! Now I just need to find a replacement power cord. I've never see anything hold a charge for 3 years before! This didn't answer your question about being plugged in because mine wasn't plugged in. Very impressive.

what kind of rechargeable battery does it use? Lithium Ion or Lead Acid?

I did not buy this at Amazon, but I do own this (from local super market) -- Unfortunately, the batteries -ARE- lead acid. Took it apart to see what kind it runs and found two, very small lead acid batteries. Converting to Li-ion wouldn't be that hard, as it's two batteries in parallel at ~4v. I haven't done too much testing with it yet (and not a full 25 hour charge yet. Lead acid is why they recommend a 25 hour initial charge!) but it uses ~2.9 volts on low and 3.4-3.7 volts on high. So it seems all the LEDs are wired in parallel. I'll do current testing later.

Does the red charging light go out after the 25 charge?

The light does not change color or go out to indicate full charge. It is a power indicator light, letting you know it is getting power via the cord.
