Good product that avoids some sores!
Since my wife can't walk much. Always sitting or laying in bed. It helps to avoid some skin sores.

Nothing but the best for dad!
Easy to wash and dry. Doesn’t shrink. Retains softness. I use it for my 94 year old father who’s needs to have his pressure points protect from sores. This is a great product for that purpose.

Synthetic or real sheepskin?
Is this synthetic or real? The product is a gift so I have not inspected it myself. The description is somewhat contradictory: “(1)Long-lasting protection: synthetic fleece sheepskin pad has a plush nature and evenly distributes pressure. Assists in the prevention of skin breakdown and Decubitus (2) Sheepskin Pad: crafted from real sheep wool that provides warmth. Pressure relief pad has a natural color that tends to be ivory in appearance. No bleach or dye is used to preserve softness of the sheepskin.” I wish this could be clarified.

It washed up well. It did take a day and a half to air dry. Glad we purchased it.
Very good quality. Use for comfortable use on my Dad's hoyer sling and to sit on in his wheelchair. Works very nicely.

Looking for the best care for my mom I made some research and that's why I bought this sheepskin. This is what the National Library of Medicine says... The use of genuine sheepskin was compared to the use of synthetic sheepskin in two long term care institutions. Data for the control group of 44 residents placed on synthetic sheepskin were obtained by retrospective chart audit. 64 residents were randomly placed on genuine merino sheepskin (WoolTec USA, Maspeth, NY). The two groups were similar in age, diagnosis, polypharmacy, and risk assessment score. In the control group 41% maintained skin integrity, 38% improved, and 21% deteriorated; in the study group 63% maintained skin integrity, 37% improved, and none deteriorated. The use of genuine sheepskin is recommended to reduce the risk factors of friction and shear.
