Easy to use and very sturdy
I needed to replace the pillars on my deck and this unit fit my needs. I am very pleased with how well it worked. My deck, which overhangs my walkout basement, is 20 feet by 40 feet and has six pillars holding up the deck. Several of these 6x6 cedar pillars showed signs of rot from getting too wet for 30 years so I needed a jack to hold up the support beam while I replaced the pillars. This item worked perfectly. I'm thinking of buying a second one.

Worked great, excellent value
Bought two to support a bunch of 18ft 4x12 beams that need to be removed. All the parts were present (they were in a sealed bag inside one of the tubes), and had no real issue with the included turning bar. One thing I didnt notice in the pictures was that in addition to the 4 large holes on each mounting plate, the top plate also had two smaller holes that we used to secure to the beam with #9 structural screws. It was perfect for keeping the beams on the posts after they were cut through. I'll probably never have another use for these things, but they did what they were supposed to do, and I cant imagine anything better in this price range. The only issue with the purchase was due to the size and weight of these posts, the end of one of the boxes seemed to have given way during shipping. This wasnt really a problem thought because they stored the parts inside the tubes and everything was still there.

A great basement floor support! But the small parts are NOT shipped inside the tube as described.
This is a very sturdy basement floor support jack. It is thick, heavy and substantial. Exactly what you want! The only negative, and it is minor, is that in multiple places they claim that the loose parts will be placed inside the tube for shipment so they don't get lost. Well, mine were not. They were on the outside of the tube in a plastic bag, which had been loosely shrink wrapped to the outside of the tube. Now I didn't lose my parts, which is great! But I certainly could have as the cardboard shipping box for these jacks is WAY too flimsy and lightweight for such a heavy item. Both ends of the box popped open during shipment and had been hastily re-taped by the UPS guy. Had the pins been floating around in the box, they would have been long gone.

Excellent Product
As the other reviewers said, this item does all it should in ease of installation, quality and price.( More about price) I needed to replace a support column that a previous homeowner had removed to acommodate a pool table. Never mind that it supported two floors, a roof and a dormer! This was much easier then jacking out the footing where the old column was set and humping a concrete filled lally into place. The load was safely within the capacity of the jack. The comparable item at the large orange home center was usefull for a child's playhouse,- maybe. One question I have is why the price I paid on sunday had jumped up over 40% by friday, or is that just on my computer? I have seen this happen on other unrelated items I've bought from Amazon. Would have purchased another, but now I might as well shop locally. Still if you can get it at the lower price, do so.

Awesome
We are using this pole jack in the basement under a 1st floor front load washer to stop it from bouncing and vibrating. It's off book use, but it's working perfectly. The washer is running quieter and smoother, it's not bouncing into the dryer every time I use it and you can barely feel vibration in the floor next to the washer when it's going full speed. Plus it helps the floor support the heavy weight of the washer. Wish I thought of this years ago.

Very Impressive
I'm impressed. We had a tricky situation where a wall we added to an old house was sagging just enough to make a bathroom door stick. But right under where it needed added support there is an old hole, about five feet deep, that used to be used as a cellar. This product was perfect. We put a bad in the bottom of the hole and jacked the beam up just enough. Compared to other products, this one was heavy steel. Plus, and very important for what we did, the top plate is able to rotate to stay in place on the beam as you screw it up. Clever pins to set the height, too. No nuts to lose. They use steel pins, machined down just in from each in so that the weight of the pipe holds them in the holes. And they give you two of them. I know they say they are not for permanent use or for lifting, but a lot of people use them for it, and I think that's largely a liability thing to avoid blame when people use them for things they can't do properly. But they are capable of lifting and of being left in place. It's hard to imaging them failing in any reasonable use. I solved our problem, and so much cheaper than a foundation company.

Worth the extra bucks.
I had a job where we needed to support the roof load to remove 32lf of exterior wall. I was leaning to another brand when I read reviews about how it just sits together and seemed unstable. I opted for the Vestil brand after reading that the plate is welded on. I was impressed when I un-packaged them (ordered 4) at their size and seeming very heavy duty. That carried over to their use on the job today. We supported a living room and bedroom with these and they worked terrific as intended. I will be using them in a couple weeks to support some beams for an elevated deck and cover. Will purchase again if needed.

Needed to modify to make it work right
What I like is that it's a simple, strong mechanism that was able to lift my ceiling enough to replace some posts supporting the second floor. It's fairly simple to operate although a third hand is definitely helpful. What I did is get it in place, make sure it's plumb, find the highest place to insert the pins, and spin it up until I had contact with the beam I was lifting. Then I put in a couple of decent sized lag screws to keep the thing from spinning as I continued to crank up the screw. That worked pretty well. It's definitely able to generate the needed lifting force. What I don't like so much: (1)The base plate at the screw end (which I kept at the floor) is not supposed to come off but it did. Now I have to keep up with it or the whole thing is worthless. (2) the (3/8?) turning rod supplied is WAY too weak. When there is a substantial load, it just bends. I tried getting a longer rod but it just bent, too. The hole is too small to get a 1/2 inch in. So back to the store to spend another $25 for a 1/2 inch drill bit designed for hard metal and drilled out the hole (use plenty of oil and go slow). then used a 1/2 inch rod. Once I did this, the thing worked beautifully. more lift with less effort since I also got some additional length on the rod. Bottom line: It works just fine now but it was a PITA to figure out how best to use it and the narrow lift rod is just poor engineering.

Good product
As previous reviewers have said, the threads are a little rough, solved with some grease. The swivel top my come off, solved by peening the top of the screw. There should be a stop on the bottom of the screw to prevent it from coming all the way out.Other than that the jacks work great and are very sturdy.

Worth the extra money. Higher quality than the cheaper ones I've found.
I was originally going to order a cheaper one from home depot but their delivery was expensive. This one was more expensive for the item but free shipping meant I saved a few dollars compared to their total cost. I'm glad I bought it because the quality was worth the extra money. I really liked how easy it was to raise the screw with the bar, unlike the cheaper ones.

No QC at all, but decent when they work (and are not in a rush to get them)
Ordered two. They arrived separately, one in decent time and one took a very long time to arrive. The first one was fine, it seems very strong, the threads on mine work fine and it installed quickly and easily. Very happy with that one. Then I had to wait, and wait, and wait for the second one. It arrived, but I couldn't install it because I had to go away for five weeks or so for a personal matter. I come back and go install the second one and it is utterly unusable. There is a third pipe stuck inside the second pipe. There are only supposed to be two. I can't get it out and it doesn't work this way. Just went to the Amazon website to exchange it, but the return period has not ended, so I just spent a good chunk of money on a massive paper weight. Very disappointing. If you order it, make sure you check its function right away so you can return it if need be! But again, the one that works is fine and does exactly what I need it to do.
