The Cost

I'll keep this short and sweet. I love the album. If you're one of those people who requires a few listens let it sink it you might be surprised that a listen or two is all it takes.My favorite songs on this album are: Song for Someone, Falling Slowly, People Get Ready, Rise, and True.Not to say I don't like the other songs. I do except for possibly Sad Songs which for some reason I just can't get into.Understanding that music is subjective I think you'll like this album if you like artists like Radiohead.

I am a recent convert to The Frames, somehow i missed out on them for the last 10 years or so. I saw the movie "Once" earlier this week, and tonight saw their live performance at the Bumbershoot music festival in Seattle. They are amazing, the entire band (i love an electric violin...), but for me it's Glen Hansard's voice makes the band amazing. I cried during the movie, and if I wasn't so happy to be there i would have cried during the performance. This is an amazing album, it's worth "the cost".

Glen Hansard definitely knows how to write good lyrics. Musically the album was more monotonous than I expected it to be. But the album has a very well carved tone that does not change from start to finish. Even the songs previously featured in Hansard-Irglova's "The Swell Season" are re-arranged to fit the album well. My favorite song is probably is "Sad Songs", a very simple and beautiful song that moves you, but does it quietly. This is my first Frames album, so cannot compare it to the rest, but I am pleased with my purchase :)

Totally false advertising. I'm annoyed.The record itself is great, I've heard it before.

I am just getting into the Frames, and this album I feel was a great place to start. It obviously has 2 tracks from the Once movie.(Which I thought was so well done) The rest of the album has such touching vocal sentiments as well as incredible musicianship throughout. I highly reccomend this to anyone who is looking for something a little different, yet a little familiar at the same time.

I love them. I want more, more, more. Of all the incarnations of Glen Hansard, The Frames are my fave. Time for a new album I think.

I enjoy this music... They were here in Albuquerque awhile back & I missed them. Maybe they will come again. I really like the soundtrack for the movie Once as well.

great songs but I had to return the first because of ships - the second one skips though one song - don't have the time to do the return thing again.

'Discovered' Glen Hansard by accident when I saw 'Once' and now I am a big fan. I usually don't go back to buy old albums, but thought I'd try this one. Mensch, Edo, und Du meinst Glen Hansard hat was mit neuerem Folk-Soul zu tun, so die sanfte Version - na, das erklär mir mal! Der ist so nah am Soul wie Coldplay an den Temptations. To whom it my concern - für mich jedenfalls ungenießbar. Ich platzier völlig unobjektive "Gefällt mir nicht"-Sterne.

Es ist wie bei allen Dingen- Geschmacksache.Mir gefällt diese Musik sehr gut, geht ins Herz, wunderbar rührseelig.Klare Kaufweiteremfehlung.

Das aktuelle Album von The Frames ist eine Meisterleistung des Songwritertums. Schwebende, leidenschaftliche Lieder, die mit der Kraft der schieren Emotion überzeugen. Indie trifft hier auf ganz großen Pop.Wer den Film "Once" mit Glen Hansard gesehen hat, wird auf diesem Album einige Songs wiederfinden. Besonders die Single "Falling slowly", ebenfalls im Film zu hören, steht stellvertretend für die Größe dieses Meisterwerks. Coldplay würden für einen ähnlichen Song wohl einiges tun und U2 müssten sich sehr ins Zeug legen, um etwas derart Magisches zu erschaffen.Aber auch alle anderen 9 Songs strotzen nur so vor Kraft und Ideenreichtum, gewürzt mit einer Bittersüße, die Ihresgleichen sucht.Wenn die Stimme Hansards sich in Verbindung mit der Violine erhebt, bleibt kein Herz unberührt.Diese knappe Dreiviertelstunde ist ein Feuerwerk der Leidenschaft geworden.

All the songs on this CD are worth to be listen. I recommend it greatly. Since I bought it, I listen it everyday in my car while going to work, a 40 minutes ride.

The Frames und vor allem Glen Hansard sind einfach das Beste was die Insel zu bieten hat. Besser gehts einfach nicht!

極力シンプルなのに力強い、ずっと聴いているけど飽きません。The Framesは時代の流行関係なく突き進んでいる。ただ本当に心地よくて、本気で心に突き刺さるメロディー。魂を揺さぶる声。For the birdっていうアルバムが個人的に1番好きになってきたけど、どのアルバムも珠玉の一言。このアルバムの4曲目の"Rise"が特に好きです!静かに始まる前半からの後半部分のバイオリンパートの盛り上げ方には毎回鳥肌が立つくらい興奮します!歌詞もベタに好きです。最高です。

Mal wieder ein gutes Stück handgemachte Musik mit Texten, die tief gehen. Die Frames, respektive Glen Hansard, bescheren wieder echte Emotionen durch den Gehörgang direkt ins Herz. So muss Musik.

Wunderschöne melancholische Musik...... als Fan von irischen Bands war dieser Kauf ein " Muss" ..... alles andere als kommerzielle Musik ..... geht mitten ins Herz

This Irish band deserve to be better known. An excellent album of heartfelt music led by the amazing vocals of Glen Hansard.
