Opus 3
- Comments: This comes with 36 booster packs, with 12 cards per pack. A total of 432 cards (36*12).This set in particular is helpful for players with a FF Type-0 deck. As there are plenty of cards that support or allow a deviation of the standard Type-0 deck (Lightning/Wind).If that doesn't apply to you, it still might be worth considering. Specifically, if you feel that your deck is lacking in fire-power, then this set is perfect! There are plenty of high-cost cards in this set. From 7-cost cards like Minerva (3-146H), to 7-cost Summons like Zodiark, Keeper of Precepts (3-147L), there are plenty of heavy-hitting cards in this set. I pulled 11 Legend-rarity cards, so I am fairly satisfied.============================================================================================================- Overview: This section will be a "brief" discussion about each element's Forward, Backup, and Summon that I really liked. I'll also include a runner-up when applicable. Keep in mind this is opinionated and based off the cards I pulled from the booster box. Furthermore, I am not a competitive TCG player, either. Also, Lightning is my favorite FF character.- Lightning: Lightning (3-118H) has an EX Burst. If you run plenty of Odin (1-124R/1-123R/3-102R) Summons in your deck, this version of Lightning is worth considering. As she can allow you to recycle/reuse your Odin or even to help clear the field with her ability. I like Queen (3-104C), but Enuo (3-101R) seems very useful. There are plenty of cards that can recycle or activate their effects when they enter the Break Zone. This card can allow you to remove a card from play, which can counter many cards like Golbez (1-135L).Arecia Al-Rashia (3-097R) is an important searcher for Type-0 decks. Odin (3-102R) is useful for that deck, too, since it can outright break a Forward if you control a Class Zero Cadet Forward. Otherwise, it will break a chosen Forward of 7000 power or less.- Ice: Genesis (3-033L) can Dull and Freeze an opponent's Forward when he's brought out. Which can buy you time or sneak in a point of damage. White Tiger L'Cie Qun'mi (3-045R) is great as a deterrent. Your opponent has to pay 3 extra CP if they use a Summon that chooses one or more of your Forwards or else its effect is canceled!Time Mage (3-043C) is situational but has a powerful effect: You choose one of your Forwards and remove it from play. It then comes back onto the field Dull. It can only be used during your turn, but it allows you to reuse certain abilities, as well as save important Forwards. Shelke (3-035R) is interesting depending on what you pair her up with. Her passive ability allows her to Activate when your opponent is dealt damage. When used right, she can generate free CP. I really like Shiva (3-032R). She's a 2-cost Summon and Dulls up to 2 of your opponent's Forwards. Too bad she doesn't have an EX Burst like her other versions. Since Ice is mainly about Dulling and Freezing, it's easy to combo this card with Freeze effects.- Fire: Garland (3-004H) can be a strong defender, as he reduces the damage he receives by 2000 during your turn. Bard (3-007C) is interesting. During your turn, you can pay the cost to increase all your Forwards by 2000 power. Great for a final-push. Phoenix (3-020H) is situational. But this Summon allows you to play a cost 2 or less Forward from your Break Zone, while dealing 2000 damage to all of your opponent's Forwards. Best to combo this with other cards to make use of it.- Earth: Delita (3-088L) is a beast! If he's chosen by your opponent's Character's ability (Forward or Backup), he breaks them. If he's chosen by your opponent's Summon, he deals 1 point of damage to them! Best to use blanket and/or kamikaze-type effects like Cyclops (2-107C) or Ninja (2-114C) against him.Rydia (3-096R) is an extremely useful searcher. When she enters the field, you may search for 1 Summon and add it to your hand. The fact that you can add ANY Summon from your deck to your hand is such a simple and useful ability! Atomos (3-074R) is decent for Earth decks since many of their Forwards tend to be strong. However, Raubahn (2-093H) essentially does the same thing.- Wind: Barbariccia (3-066R) can choose and make your opponent's Forward become 1000 power until the end phase. This makes breaking a powerful Forward much easier, and can also lead to many combat-tricks. Zidane (3-056H), Trey (3-064H), Wind Drake (3-067R), and Dorgann (3-063H) are all useful/situational cards that will greatly benefit Wind-based decks.Oracle (3-070C) is an extremely useful and cheap card. By paying the cost, it Activates all of your Characters. Excellent to bait your opponent into attacking, and/or for putting pressure. Chaos, Walker of the Wheel (3-071H) is an interesting Summon. You can choose and break 1 of your opponent's Forwards. If they're put into the Break Zone, they get to play 1 Forward from their hand onto the field. You'll have to combo this with other cards to make the most value out of it. However, it allows you to get a problematic card out of the way, and set them up for other combat tricks depending on what cards you combo with it.- Water: Ephemeral Summoner (3-125C) is extremely versatile for Water-based decks. She can search for a Water Summon of cost 4 or less and puts it on top of your deck. Since Water has plenty of draw-power, you can easily add it to your hand. You can also leave a Summon like Cuchulainn, the Impure (2-133R) at the top of your deck, and deter/hinder your opponent if they choose to attack you. Overall, a cheap, but versatile card that slightly pushes the odds in your favor. Knight (3-139C) is very useful for a Knight deck. As she is a low-cost card and can become very powerful, very quickly in the mid to late-game.Quacho Queen (3-132R) can increase a Forward's power by 1000 for each Forward you control until the end phase. Meaning, you can make a Forward very powerful on offense or defense. A useful power boost that can change the momentum of the battle. Famfrit, the Darkening Cloud (3-123R) is an interesting Summon. Both players select 1 Forward they control and puts it into the Break Zone. This would be great for getting rid of something you don't need or care about, like a Viking (1-167C/2-132C). At the same time, you could hinder your opponent. This card has a lot of potential.
