Velpeau 10Pcs Hand Socks for Splint, Breathable Thin Stockinette Tubing, M

I was given some cheap hand socks by the PT department after surgery and they were loose and not very useful. When I had to find a few more to get me through I decided on these, even though I needed thumb holes. I was easily able to customize these for my own use by cutting them a little shorter, cutting the thumb material off for the holes I needed and, since I was afraid to use too much compression, I made 4 1.5" cuts going from the bottom of my fingers toward the hand (top and palm side). This allowed them to remain tight enough to hold the dressing in place, but not apply compression. btw, when I say "compression" it's nothing like a compression sock or anything, just a smidge too tight when stitches are in and there is bruising on the hand. I would order these again. I did not wash these yet, but they seem durable and fairly thick

I decided to try these after my second hand/thumb surgery. My occupational therapist had given me the sleeve plus a “thumb sock” for me to use in the past. This combo works but often slips and leaves uncovered areas. This is a great alternative! All one piece and just thick enough that it feels protective. A few things to know. Yes, they unravel. This is not a permanent garment. One pack will serve me well for several months of use during my recovery (with hand washing). The out of the package length is long enough in the hand and thumb that it accommodate most hands. The material cuts easily with scissors for you to customize the length you need. Consider how much swelling you’re dealing with when selecting a size. I couldn’t use these immediately after surgery because they were too tight due to swelling. Now that the swelling has gone down I find them to be a great tool. Maybe you need to consider sizing up? I ordered medium and waited until I could use them.

I needed a "gauze glove" to cover a long scratch on my arm/hand. I just needed something to absorb and protect. These worked perfectly! I trimmed the thumb and hand opening back just a bit for a perfect fit. I was even able to run one through the washer (in a delicates bag). These come in a bag of 10. I don't believe they are made to use over and over. However, with gentle use, they hold up very nicely.

The orthopedic doctor supplied me with only one liner when he fitted my brace: a simple knit tube with a hole cut out for my thumb, and a smaller tube for my thumb. I did not like the idea of wearing the same liner 24/7 for a month or more, so I purchased these cotton arm socks. They have been great. They came in a package of 10, so I can change the liner daily and not have to wash them every day. They keep the brace from chafing my skin and are very soft and comfortable. I was a little worried about the seam along the thumb, but I don't notice it at all. So far, I have hand washed them once, and they held up pretty well. That said, the top and bottom edges are raw (unhemmed), and by the second wearing, they are beginning to fray and develop small runs at the bottom edge. ( Possibly the top edge also, but I folded that in because my hands are small, so the top edge is less exposed than the bottom edge near the elbow.) They are clearly not intended to be used over and over, and I would not risk washing them in the washing machine. But if you hand wash them gently and let them hang dry, you should be able to get several wearings out of each arm sock.

Fits right and comfortable

I didn't expect much in the way of quality and finishing touches so I got what I expected. They all have loose strings on the end and start to unravel quickly. The strings get stuck on the velcro of the brace and make it unravel more. I didn't rate lower for that just because that's kind of expected with the price point on these. The seam between the thumb and the hand is very thick, so I can't use these because I wear the braces that wrap around your thumb and the seam is so thick it cuts off circulation trying to wear my brace even at its loosest point. The reason I gave 3 stars is because the compression aspect was perfect. It works well for basic braces like the carpal tunnel ones, so may not be a bad idea if that's all you're wearing. If you have a brace that covers your thumb, then I would suggest avoiding this one.

I had cmc thumb joint replacement on 1/5/2026 and am 1 month post op and still required to wear a custom splint most of the time. This is the second set of hand socks I've ordered on amazon because the price was better. These have a big flaw. the seam that sews the thumb web together is TOO thick if you have a form fitted custom splint and constantly rubs and irritates against the inside of the thumb and the web of the hand, The first set of hand socks I bought had a thin seam and did not do that. Fortunately, I sew so reinforced the seam line and then trimmed away the rest of the seam but it makes it look tacky and shoddy. And I certainly would not have purchased these had I known this would need to be done. The material is extremely soft and comfortable, and it does not leave fabric imprint marks or chafing marks like some cuff liners I've tried. However, if I could, I'd just go back in time and not order these and reorder the more expensive ones I bought the first time. I measured my thumb before ordering and their sizing chart was a bit inaccurate. I ordered medium which should fit better than it does. The thumb is tighter than I would like and I should probably have ordered the large but went by their chart. So, all around not really happy with this purchase. If I had not snagged the first one on my velcro of my splint and damaged it, I would have sent it back for refund. Provided a picture of one with the seam before I trimmed it and right beside it one after I trimmed the seam away but stitched with gray thread to reinforce the main seam line. and also, a picture of my thumb in its splint. The splint is quite tight right where that seam hits. But I know how sergers work. I would think there would be a way to set the needles and or hardware so the seam does not have to be that wide.

I’ve had to wear a cast on each hand since October and it’s now February! I was so grateful to find this product! Was quite shocked they didn’t sell them at the doctors office because they really are very necessary. Today’s cast are made more like splints they’re held together with Velcro. They rub and can be very uncomfortable. It allowed me to wear these underneath my cast and made an HUGE difference! One of my wrist must be smaller than the other but for some reason it just hurts more to wear, and I even wear two of these under that cast and it’s made the pain go away completely. I appreciated this was sold in packs of 10 because they do get dirty and they’re very easy to wash, these were game changers and are helping me be more compliant keeping my cast on. I have no use of my thumbs, palms or wrist and I’m only supposed to be out of each cast 30 minutes a day. I was cheating before I found these. I would sit still without my cast, but these have made the cast so much more comfortable. I can be Mobile and comfortable! My only recommendation would be to make them in black, so they blended in and the Dirt didn’t show as much.
