So gas very impressed.
So far so good. Quite light weight, takes an hour to assemble, but impressed with how much moss etc it’s removed. Great for our small garden, we’ll see how long it lasts as the plastic handle seems a bit light.

Small basket
Arrived promptly and well packed. Asembley was straightforward and, although quite lightweight, it seems pretty solid. Went to use it (using the raker not the scarifer) - It was simple to use and it certainly raked up the tatch in the grass very well indeed. The firsdt bit I tried I'd already raked by hand, but nevertheless it got out double the amount I'd managed by hand. I used that collection basket, which worked well, however it's very small . For the next section which I had not touched, I used it without the basket becuase otherise you'd have been stopping every 6-10 feet to empty it. It did a great job through this thicker stuff and the loose material was easy to rake up. In short I'm very pleased with this and pleased I did not go for a cheaper but lower powered machine. It's worth 5* but as I have not yet tried the scarifer (will the power be enough?) nor have I used it enough to see that the motor holds up over the long term, I've given it 4*. However it's off to a very good start!

Easy to use. Light compact. Lawn looks great
This is AMAZING. It is so simple to put together. You do need to check out the instructions. They look complicated until you read them properly. It is small compact and so easy to push around. My grass was very thick and full of moss. This lifted it All up. The scarifier works really well, it also has a grass lifter which you attach afterwards and it also is excellent. Great value for money. I really like this product.

Absolutely brilliant
I bought this after watching a YouTube video called “Mr Garden Story”. Our lawn was doing my head in. Kept cutting and cutting and it just looked more and more sad for itself. Rest of our garden is lovely (maintained by green fingered other half) and I was letting the side down with the lawns. Had watched a lot about the benefits of Scarifying and the guy used this Van Hausen machine. Arrived in a couple of days and after waiting a week or so until the weather was right I assembled it. Now I’m far from being practical minded but it was simplicity. The machine is well put together but I worried it seemed a little bit plasticy compared to my petrol lawn mower. Shouldn’t have worried. When it turned it on was apparent that the motor was plenty able to do the job as it propelled me forward at a rate of knots. You will be astonished at how much dead grass and thatch this brIngs up. 2 cuts completely filled our large garden waste bin. I was amazed. Need to rake it all up after and I realised after taking the lazy mans way of using the mower to try and lift the stuff that it didn’t get everything up. The raking also helps the soil below in prep for seeding. I’ve gone on to aerate, seed and dress the lawn and after watering am now crossing fingers (while sitting our 7 hours a day to deter starlings from eating seed) to see the results. The lawn looks and feels better under foot straight away. Was really springy before but can now feel the Earth below. In conclusion I can completely recommend this item. It’s sturdy, powerful and the results will surprise you. Hope it helps for anyone thinking of buying.

Such a good little machine
Really impressed with this. We had a severely moss infested lawn that needed serious attention. I first used the rake on the ‘4 Transport’ setting and got loads of moss out even at that level. I went over 3 times with the rake in total, lowering a level each time and you wouldn’t believe how effective this is. Did a final going over with the scarifying blades to loosen the soil for sowing and that brought even more moss and thatch out. It’s light and easy to use, though I gave up on the collection box that comes with it. I think it was just because of the sheer volume of moss coming out of the lawn but it just backed up at the back of the machine with very little actually going in the box. However, I am sure if you look after your lawn regularly, so have less coming out then this wouldn’t be a problem. Easy just to use without and either rake up by hand, or I just used the lawnmower to pick everything up. Not sure about comments saying this ruined their lawn - if you want to clear your lawn of moss and thatch then this does the job - but to do that it does seem destructive, with a lot of vegetation getting pulled out and the scarifyer will dig into the soil - it is meant to - both to get thatch out and to break it up for aeration and preparation for overseeding. If you do it right your lawn will look a little wrecked, but then you reseed and get a (hopefully) thicker and greener lawn in a few weeks. I was going to call in a professional - or even returf, it was that bad - this great machine has saved me a lot of money - the price is great too.
