An interesting case with a few quirks
Interesting case. can support either 6 or 7 GPUs (potentially more if run with passive heatsinks) with decent airflow possibilities from a mid-plane mounted chassis fan bank. (note: they're 92mm fan cutouts). minimal amount of hardware with the case so, you may have to be creative. A couple of things that would be useful for future revisions: the front "unlockable" panel needs a 3 x 140mm Fan kit (or cutout blanks for the largest size fans possible). this would make passive GPU cooling possible, increase the density of the solution, and, in the case of ACTIVE GPU cards, would actually allow the front to evict hot air quicker in a "blow through" model. It appears to be flexible enough to actually reverse the GPUs (exhausting through the midplane) which would allow a draft effect esp. for AFO/AFI configurations. The other change I'd like to see is a better PSU configuration. Not everyone wants to run a monolithic 1600w PSU. in fact, I'm combining a 300w SFX PSU with an HP PSU + breakout board because it is wildly more efficient and cheaper to implement. So, now, I've got to re-cut some metal banks to ensure the integrity of the case isn't compromised. options for that PSU space would be incredible. Finally, a rack case without a rack kit seems...inane. Please include one next time. Overall a good case with good possibilities but you'll have your work cut out for you.

Junk
This product was as good as trash, if it wasn't urgent I would have sent it back. It's unbelievable what people are willing to sell you at x price.

An excellent 4U mining chassis that could be almost perfect with by addressing a few key issues
This isn't my first trip around the block with Rosewill so I pretty much knew what to expect. I previously used the RSV-L4500 for Burstcoin mining and this chassis is essentially the same thing in a different configuration, as are most in the Rosewill 4U lineup. There is a lot of good with this chassis but also quite a few shortcomings that actually make using it for its intended purpose rather challenging. First, it's rock solid... These things are heavy since they're made almost entirely of steel, but that's also what makes them so durable. The layout is mostly the same in all versions, which means the motherboard and power supply are always in the same place, and there's usually a fan bracket positioned near the middle of the chassis that runs the full width and supports three 120mm fans (RSV-L4500) or five 80mm fans (RSV-L4000B).This brings up it's first shortcoming though. In a case that's designed to house 6-8 graphics cards running at full speed continuously, the 80mm fans are not going to cut it. There's simply not enough air moving to keep things cool and limited space between cards doesn't help that. Sure, you could run with some Delta fans that move a lot of air, but you will pay for it in terms of cost, noise and additional power consumption, the latter of which is already an issue when the chassis is packed full of cards. On top of that, the fan bracket supports up to six 3-pin fans but likely won't be able to handle the power draw of five Deltas. Bottom line here... This bracket needs to be replaced with one similar to the RSV-L4500 so 120mm fans can be used.On the topic of fans, unlike its counterpart, the RSV-L4000C, this version does not come with the front fan bracket for three 120mm fans. Considering this is meant as a chassis for GPU mining, the lack of that bracket is simply unacceptable. This makes it very difficult to pull air out of the chassis and will most certainly require you to run it with the cover off. However, the RSV-L4000C doesn't include a center fan bracket so this seems to be a trade off. Honestly, both models should have both brackets if there's any chance of putting the cover on and keeping thermals in check.Cooling aside, the absence of a second mounting spot for an additional power supply will also give you grief. Your choices are limited to a single ATX power supply with enough output for all your cards. This can get rather expensive quickly. The Rosewill pictures show their 1600W power supply installed but I highly doubt this would be practical. There's limited room between the power supply and fan bracket for the amount of cables you'll be running which means you'll likely have to give up the bracket. Solving this could be challenging since there's already little room to work with, but providing a way to mount server PSUs may be a good place to start.Cooling and power are really the two big issues you need to consider. There's some other nitpicky stuff, but it isn't anything that should sway you away from purchasing. It's overall an excellent chassis, just as the RSV-L4500 was. And even though most parts are interchangeable between all of the 4Us, with some exceptions, the lack of parts means you'll need to do some fabricating if you want to fix the issues. I reached out to them but was unable to get the front fan bracket unless it was a warranty claim. All in all, it's a great chassis, but it's going to be challenging to use it for it's intended purpose and keep it closed up. Customer service was also very helpful but just unable to sell me what I needed, and that was rather disappointing. GPU mining isn't going anywhere, at least not for a while, so this chassis is still a good option if you like the 4U format, and can mitigate the power and cooling issues. However, at least until the cooling issues are solved, the RSV-L4000C would be the better option if you're running cards that get hot. At least that version gives you the ability to pull the hot air out the front.I really wanted to give this chassis at least 4 stars because it's actually great in many ways, even more so if you have a different version of it laying around to pick parts from. However, keeping this thing cool as it comes is a serious problem and that's the only reason I dropped it to 3 stars.

Good case
Easy to set up and look neat

it refits into a NAS OK
I got this cheap so am building a NAS in it. It seems to be going OK buy there is some strangeness to the assembly as this is not designed to hold a lot of drives.

Great with a Few Short Comings
I love the idea and I love the build quality. That being said there are some improvements to be made. I fills all 7 80mm fan slots plus I made 3 120mm fan slots and it still makes my system run hot. That leads to my next point, there are no native 120mm fan slots. I had to 3D print a bracket. Otherwise, great.

Good case, but no font mounts for fans?
This case has absolutely no mounts to put 120mm fans at the front. I have multiple Rosewill RSV-L4000C's, and you can put three 120mm fans in the front. This version does NOT support any fans.... why? What's the point then.I'm going to have to make some makeshift mount now to attach 3 delta fans... do not buy this case, just get the other version.
