Recess Mood Magnesium Powder Sampler, 15 Packets

I bought this as part of building a better evening routine and cutting way back on alcohol. The Recess drinks have already helped me a lot, so I wanted to try the powder version too. I like adding it to sparkling water, shaking it up, and then leaving the cap on for about 10 minutes to let it calm down before drinking it. That gives me something that feels more like an intentional evening drink instead of just another supplement mixed into plain water. The sampler pack is convenient, mixes well, and gives me a good option when I want something calming without opening a canned drink. I like that it includes magnesium L-threonate, passion flower, L-theanine, and electrolytes instead of just being another flavored powder with marketing attached to it. For me, products like this help give me something better to reach for at night. Since switching away from alcohol and using options like this, my sleep has been better, my mood has been better, and I generally feel better overall. The flavors are good, the packets are easy to keep at home or throw in a bag, and the sampler format is useful for figuring out what you like. It is not magic, but it has been a solid part of a healthier routine, and I will keep using it.

I’ve only tried the citrus/lemon flavor —it is good and I have noticed a relaxed feel with drinking it. I mixed it in seltzer water —not 100% of the powder dissolved but it probably would do better in a warmer drink.

This stuff did absolutely nothing to change or alter my mood in any way whatsoever. As mentioned in other reviews, the powder doesn't dissolve well (or at all). Whatever you do, don't try pouring a powder pack into a can of flavored La Croix sparkling water (as I did). The drink completely overflowed with fizz and bubbles and would not stop! OMG what a mess! It's not even close to a replacement for alcohol, so don't buy it thinking it's going to solve that problem. Watch out for other items making similar claims, too. It's absurd. Just another ineffective item that did zero for me.

I have enjoyed all the Recess products - but this one wasn't as great. I tried in regular water and adding to seltzer water. It doesn't taste the same and feels less effective. I'm probably just crazy - but I'll stick to buying the Recess Mood in a can instead.

I purchased the sample pack, and I wanted to try quite a few before writing a thoughtful review. I noticed the reviews were very mixed, this product is expensive for what it is, and it is non returnable. I hope this helps you make an informed decision. (Do yourself a favor and make a slushy with ice, coconut milk, an orange creamsicle, the lemon citrus powder, and a touch of sweetener. Very yummy and easy!) Flavor/mouthfeel: this is not a drink powder that feels sparkly or tingly in your mouth- it’s flat like water. Be careful not to swallow down the wrong tube though, for it is very scratchy and uncomfortable. It is sweetened with monk-fruit extract, but it is definitely not a sweet beverage at all. If you have a high sugar tolerance like me, you might be a bit dissatisfied. My personal preference is the mixed berry flavor. I usually dislike citrus flavored things, but I do enjoy this powder. Effect: The calming effect is noticeable- when it does kick in. Sometimes nothing happens. Sometimes I feel so relaxed I get the giggles. It seems like drinking multiple drinks in a row does not increase the effect, so don't waste a packet! I get best results when I drink it fast, as in 5-7 minutes. This is not like alcohol where you can (and should) just sip. Price: I was really disappointed that for what I paid, I did not receive the pretty box packaging. The powders came in a plastic bag that could not be resealed. I think that is tacky and dishonest. I should not have to go out and buy a container when there is a disposable one pictured. Overall, I would certainly recommend this as a relaxation beverage. I cannot imagine drinking this at a party as an alcohol replacement as the effect is much too mild. Have one at bedtime or on your patio this summer!

This stuff is pretty nice. It sorta feels like you drank a small glass of wine. I get a nice relaxing feeling. Tastes ok and seems to dissolve in whatever drink you put it in. I did notice the price went up almost $10 since I purchased. Not sure if I wanna spend $30 next time though.
