Excellent sound quality, almost the perfect wireless earbud.
They have excellent sound quality, great bass, no clipping, just 10/10 on that front. I don't have much need for noise cancellation but they seem to do a pretty good job, just know I've dropped my earbuds a few times over the last few months on concrete/tile and the ANC on my right bud has gotten pretty fuzzy/warbley so I had to disable it, but otherwise they're still 100% functional. I've had a lot of annoyances with other wireless earbuds that are too flimsy or had touch buttons on awkward places that could be activated when out of your ear, which made them extremely annoying to handle. So I love that these are bigger and have a lot more space to hold onto, never had any accidental button presses. They have a sensor to detect when they're in ear, and sends a pause/unpause to your media when you take them out and put them back in. I really like this feature but some may find it annoying, I'm not sure if it can be disabled in the app. I have encountered ZERO syncing issues; I've had wireless earbuds that stop connecting with each other, that try to connect individually with my device, that refuse to connect entirely. I've never had any of those problems with these earbuds. They have an 8-9 hour full charge plus like 3 full charges in the case. If I remember to put them back in my case when I step away from my desk I never run out of battery. Something people don't tell you about wireless earbuds is that they're not really ideal for voice calls and listening to media at the same time, because the headset driver uses half of the Bluetooth bandwidth for its microphone, this makes all of the sound they output very low quality. This is a problem with Bluetooth 5.0 and not the devices, however, it will only use the headset driver and not output any sound to the main stereo output when connected to a call on windows. So even if you have an external microphone, you're still reduced to halved audio quality when using these for a call.

Absolutely a 5 star product
These are able to compete with the FIIO fw5 buds sound wise certainly, although they aren't really audiophile buds... I'll explain. No LDAC or high end codec on the Beyerdynamic Free Byrds unless you consider aptx adaptive high end. Here's the kicker, IT DOESN'T MATTER. I use AAC on these Free Byrds with my Google 6 Pro phone and the sound is absolutely amazing. The air around the instruments is amazing, the sound is colored, so not audiophile, to bring you deep bass with thick mids, the sound is warm for sure but without too much bass and without drowning out the highs which are readily audible but not sharp at all. I can hear every note from every instrument presented easily. Also to be noted is the fantastic soundstage with pin-perfect imaging. It's uncanny how good these sound as sound comes from exactly where the artist meant them to come from, literally all over the place... above your eye, check, outside the width of your ear, check, deeper in the back of your head, check. The entire codec war is going to be null and void with these buds. CLEAN sound, loud and clear on the spot and they can play loud if that's what you're in to. Use the hearing test to personalize the sound to your hearing abilities and it only gets better. I have a ton of money in audio and qualify as one of those strange audiophile people and I'll tell you quickly these things are absolutely awesome sounding, for the price its absolutely a no brainer. I also have Beyerdynamic DT990 Pros and the Beyerdynamic Amiron Homes both of which are no slouch in the audio dept and these buds just make me shake my head. Its comparison to the 770 closed backs is spot on but the buds sound wider. No way was this a rushed product thrown together just to get on the market, these are WELL thought out and executed even for picky listeners who want to hear the mids also. This was Beyerdynamics warning to the others, "We are here now, and we're not playing games." Buy with confidence...

Handle With Care
These earbuds have rich, punchy sound with luscious (but not boomy) bass and good mids and highs, and the sound can be tailored even further to your liking with audio testing and preset EQs in the companion app. This set also comes with a wide assortment of OEM eartips, including Small to Extra Large in silicone and Small to Large in memory foam, so you can more easily find a size that will stay in your ears. Battery life is also wonderfully lengthy. That being said, I wish the companion app had a completely customizable EQ slider, and the buds themselves are a tad on the chunky side. The ambient noise mode is also kind of just adequate, though noise canceling does the job well. The durability of these buds' plastics is also questionable, as cracks have started to develop in my left earbud, so make sure to take a little extra care of them. Still, for a sound-first pair of earbuds, and for Beyerdynamic's first foray into the true wireless arena, they do what they set out to do very well. EDIT: Unfortunately, I had to knock a star off of my review because the cracks finally did my left earbud in. They still sounded fantastic right up to the end, but these earbuds' build quality must be called into question.

My favorite out of all the High End IEMS out there
These have a great sound. Wish it had a standard parametric eq so sound could really be customized, but figuring out how to match the ear profile along with the provided parametrics (v-shape) can pretty much accomplish something you'll like. Oddly enough the foam earbuds with these reduce bass, the softgels actually increase the bass. Could be how the tips fit in my ear issue For a wireless earbud the bass, mid range, and sound are 10/10. Excellent power and dynamics. Really superb sound. Definitely in/above the class of the sony wxmf1000s depending on what you like. The fit of them does leave a good amount to be desired. Feels a bit loose I wish they were tighter or had a fin to keep them in place. Earbuds are a personal thing. Everyone likes a different sound signature, so no reason not to try them all out and see what you like. I personally like to have many diff pairs so my ears don't get bored of the music if that makes sense. My fav earbuds for reference: 1. Jaybird Vista (great sound, excellent mids, comfort 10/10, terrible voice mic, not even useable, great for workouts) 2. Audio technics eahz 60 - (great all around sound, comfort 9/10, excellent mic, great all around headphones) 3.Beyerdynamics - superb sound stage 10/10, comfort 7/10, excellent mic, my favorite listening experience 4. Sony wxmf1000's - great all around, great noise cancelling, mid range is pretty cool, albeit slightly muddy, comfort 8/10 These are all great headphones imo.

Good but not great
Bluetooth is a fairly compromised format so you can’t expect exceptional sound. These Free Byrd wireless earbuds sound good especially after using the Miy app to correct for my hearing deficiencies but can’t compete with very good wired iems or headphones. They are however a good wireless choice, offer extended battery life and good clarity. Good job Beyerdynamic.

Doesn't work and poor customer Service
Ordered these to get away from wires. They arrived and I charged them up, surprise, surprise, the left one doesn't charge. So I call Beyerdynamic today for a replacement or tech support, the very rude woman (Sherese) Who answered the phone basically told me its not their problem and to just return it where I got it. No warranty offer, no solutions, no offer for tech support, nothing whatsoever to show they care about their products or customers. So I will never be buying another Beyerdynamic product ever again and I will recommend people against them too.

Umm don’t wait.
Simply the best earbuds I’ve ever owned. Went and bought almost all these earbuds on the market today and Beyerdynamic is so underrated. The price and sound compared to competitors these blows them out of the water. Looking for sport buds pass. However a daily commute, office, airplane, mowing grass get them. If you want to jump around in a workout session Beyerdynamic will need to come out with some tips that have little winglets to hug the ear to keep them from falling out. I will say they don’t fall out that easy but I go hard in my gym sessions. That being said. Sound quality is above and beyond Sony, Bose. These give Sennheiser, momentum, B&O beoplay, B&W Px7 a dang good run for their money. Trust me. Yea some features Beyerdynamic doesn’t have but in the sound department. Whoo buddy watch out sound stage and transparency. Need bass that’s not muddy? You got it. Need clarity that you can hear the high hats and cymbals you got it. Want smooth midrange to hear the artist voice. You got it. These will be my now daily earbuds except for the gym. That I will give to the Bose unfortunately. However the Bose is the most comfortable in the gym to my funky ear shape.

I expected so much more
I ordered these as a huge fan of Beyerdynamic headphones, I've had a set of DT770s for ages and they are my favorite headphones by far. I have been looking for portable headphones with a similar sound profile ever since. When I heard that these were coming out and were being reviewed well, I had to splurge on them. To say I was disappointed with what I got is an understatement. Headphones are very subjective, so what is gold for one person can be garbage for another, and I understand that. These just did not meet my expectations on any level. The only way I could get them to seal properly on both ears was to use one silicone earpiece and one foam, which is horrible since they sound uneven with different seals. So my sound experience was compromised from the start. The app won't let you customize the EQ, there are only presets, but even with EQ adjustment on my music app, these sounded anemic. The sound was clear, very clear, but it was top end heavy no matter what I did, and it lacked the fullness I look for in a decent set of buds. The nice thing about the DT770s is that they sound great no matter how you like your music to sound, flat, bass heavy, pumped mids, it doesn't matter, it all sounds good when you adjust the EQ to your liking. These fall far short. There are wireless buds that cost less than half of what these do, that sound fuller and have more options for customization. If you are looking to spend this much, there are much better options out there. I returned these for a refund ✌️

Better Sound than Apple AirPods Pro but less User-Friendly & bulkier.
My older pair of Apple AirPods Pro died so I was trying to decide between buying another pair of the same or this one. I already own the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro headphones which are professional grade, which I use for professional purposes. So I was eager to try these Bluetooth earphones by the same manufacturer. I’m a bit of a sound snob, so I actually rate these Beyerdynamic earphones better than the Apple AirPods in terms of their frequency response & overall detailing of sound you can hear. If you download the Beyerdynamic MIY app, it even allows you to personalise the frequency response as per your hearing ability. It beats the Apple AirPods Pro hands down in terms of overall sound quality and accuracy. That said, it does lack the seamless functionality of its Apple competitor, such as switching between devices, and of course the ability to locate them if misplaced or lost. As a sound snob, I’m willing to sacrifice a little user-ease for the superior sound quality. The battery life has been quite decent so far. It remains to see how great the overall life of the battery itself holds up.

Sehr gut verarbeitete InEars. Hatte ich von Beyerdynamic etwas anderes erwartet? Nein. Perfekt. Ein erstaunlich kleines Case (Vergleich Sony, Grell Audio) welches sich sogar per NFC laden lässt. Perfekt. Passt. Fazit? Was hat mich beeindruckt? Ganz klar der Sound. Der ist einfach extraklasse. Ich kann stundenlang begeistert zuhören. Kann ich die Free BYRDs empfehlen? Ja. Uneingeschränkt.
