LiquaCel Liquid Protein, Unflavored, 32 oz Bottle

My dietitian recommended that I start using this to get enough protein. I am type two diabetic. It’s a little sweet to me so I’m going to try to mix it in something else.

Bought for my sister who is recovering from a huge wound. She lost her appetite in the hospital, and seriously needs extra protein to heal. She says it doesnt taste bad. If you put too much into a beverage than it changes the consistency. So its better to do less is more. However she likes it just in a bottle of water or juice and make sure u shake it between sips because it settles!

This item is advertised as unflavored. It most assuredly is not. When it arrived, I quickly added it to my morning coffee. And between the smell and the taste I nearly vomitted. It has an odd odor that is hard to describe so I will say antiseptic in nature. It destroyed the taste of the drink I added it to. It changed not only the taste but also the sweetness level. The flavor of the drinks I added it to were changed to the point that the only reason I know what they were is because I mixed them. This “unflavored” protein completely changes the taste of the drink. If this item is going to be used in a feeding tube, I’m sure it’s great. But for those of us who need protein and don’t have a feeding tube, it is absolutely vile. And it can’t be returned so be sure you want to commit before spending the $30+.

Staying healthy one day at a time. This stuff is great in the morning in a cup of coffee.

Unflavored is VILE, but fixable. The flavor of the unflavored is “extremely sweet nastiness.” I mixed 1 oz in 20 oz of water and could not stomach it. Then I mixed it with equal parts of unsweetened cocoa powder and it was good. Makes a thick chocolate sauce. Ate it right off the spoon. Going to dip a banana or strawberries in it. I called the company to ask about baking with it. They said the protein dies at 140°. So if you try it in coffee or hot cocoa, check the temp! That should be on the package.

Definitely NOT unflavored. Maybe I'm just expecting too much but when it says "unflavored" I really expected it to have little to no flavor - like water. This is not that. I purchased this to add some protein to my daughter's food (smoothies, oatmeal, etc) because she hates the gritty nature of protein powder and the flavor of most pre-mixed protein drinks. This product has the consistency of maple syrup or honey. The color looks like honey and it tastes like cirtusy honey. It was too over powering to add to something like oatmeal. I'm hoping it will hide better in a smoothie. So buyer beware - if you're expecting unflavored that is not what you're getting. The protein profile is good but if you're planning to use this as an additive to other foods, you might need to do a little extra work/planning to make it palatable.

This protein supplement is working well. It has a great taste mixed with many things like yogurt, smoothies and shakes and doesn’t have a bad aftertaste at all. It is surprisingly intensely sweet so be prepared for that, but not in a bad way at all for our taste.

My dad said this was oky.

At first I thought I could handle the sweet taste. Yes, TASTE. I can’t describe it but if I have gulp down another mouthful, I will surely gag.
